Grab your little ones and enjoy a beautiful spring morning at the City of Chandler’s annual Family Easter Celebration, being held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 15 at Snedigar Sportsplex. The event, now in its 37th year, features arts and crafts, interactive amusement, information booths and displays, food vendors, an Easter egg scramble and, of course, pictures with the Easter Bunny. Family-friendly entertainment Geared toward children 9 and younger, the Family Easter Celebration is estimated to draw approximately 3,000 people. Admission is free. “There is an assortment of activities such as carnival games and bouncers,” said Hermelinda Llamas, special events coordinator for the City of Chandler. “We also have arts and crafts such as picture frame decorating that children can take home.” Kicking off the event is a coloring contest. Submissions are being accepted until April 5 and can be dropped off or mailed to Chandler City Hall. Winners in four categories will be

Pictures with the Easter Bunny cost $3. “The money raised will go back to support local students who are members of the Mayor’s Youth Commission and their community service projects,” Llamas said. Those in attendance can enter to win a family Easter basket, filled with plenty of spring activities and goodies. The lucky winner will be drawn at 11:30 a.m. and must be present to win. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Guests can bring in bottled water. “This event is rain or shine,” Llamas said. “We encourage parents to come prepared and plan to have a good time.”

Easter egg scramble Kids will love hunting for 12,000 plastic eggs, spread across four fields and divided into four age groups: 2 and under; 3 to 4; 5 to 6; and 7 to 9. Each child should bring a basket to collect eggs. One of the most popular attractions, the Easter egg scramble, begins promptly at 10:30 a.m., and there is no cost to participate. All eggs are filled with a piece of candy or a small toy. One egg in each field will also contain a golden ticket, eligible for a special prize. “We want all children to walk away with something,” Llamas said. “It’s also a great opportunity for parents to take photos of their little ones hunting for eggs, which may be their very first time.” Learn more at ChandlerAZ.gov.
