Home development coming to West Anthem BY ALLISON BROWN Foothills Focus Staff Writer

K

. Hovnanian Homes is planning a 182-unit townhome development on 16 acres in West Anthem. The development’s potential location is approximately 300 feet south of the southeast corner of 43rd Avenue and Old West Trail. Burch & Cracchiolo law firm held a neighborhood meeting on behalf of K. Hovnanian Homes to discuss the development on Aug. 4 via Zoom. The details provided were for conceptual purposes only, as the official site plan has not been approved. The goal was simply to educate the community and answer any questions or concerns they may have. “We’re holding this neighborhood

meeting to let the neighborhood know what’s being proposed. This meeting is not required, which is why I don’t think you always see these PHO cases and might not be familiar with them,” said Brian Greathouse, an attorney representing Burch & Cracchiolo. “This is something K. Hovnanian wanted to do to get out the message in the community to let people know that they’re proposing approximately 182 two-story townhomes in a nice community.” Burch & Cracchiolo also described its request for a few modifications to the original agreement for the project. Stipulation one was in regard to the site plan and building elevations. Stipulations two, three, four, five and seven only had technical corrections, such as

fixing grammatical errors and changing “Development Services” to “Planning and Development Department,” because the department name changed. These changes will be approved or denied during an Aug. 18 public officer hearing. The housing development would have up to 185 two-story for-sale townhomes. According to its website, K. Hovnanian’s homes have “stunning interiors, great amenities and options for every budget.” During the meeting, a photo rendering of what the potential development would look like was provided, showing three to five attached units, each with a garage, as well as a play structure, covered ramatas, benches and gathering areas.
