Chicken N Pickle eatery expands to Glendale BY GLENDALE STAR STAFF Chicken N Pickle is set to open in Glendale’s Westgate Entertainment District. The eatery is an indoor/outdoor entertainment complex that includes a casual, chef-driven restaurant and sports bar. The “pickle” comes in here: There are pickleball courts and a variety of yard games. “Our mission is to provide an atmosphere that fosters fun, friendship and community, and we are excited to bring that to Glendale,” said Dave Johnson, founder of Chicken N Pickle. “We believe that bringing people together over a delicious, wood-fired rotisserie chicken, a cold beverage and some friendly competition can create unifying bonds that ripple throughout the community and beyond.” Founded in Kansas City in 2016, Chicken N Pickle’s original location has become a popular destination for families, young adults and corporate gatherings. The company’s first move outside of Kansas City was to Wichita in 2019, then San Antonio in 2020. In 2021, Chicken N Pickle opened in Oklahoma City, Overland Park, Kansas and Grand Prairie, Texas. Two more locations are expected to open in late 2022, including St. Louis and Grapevine, Texas. With this new addition to Glendale, it’s estimated that Chicken N Pickle will generate more than 700,000 visitors annually and create over 150 jobs in the community. “Glendale’s sports and entertainment district continues to be the epicenter for

premiere experiential entertainment in the Valley,” Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers said. “We are thrilled to add Chicken N Pickle to the already robust lineup of experiences. Thanks to their investment and Yam Properties’ commitment to the area, the economic impact of the added jobs and visitors will maintain Glendale as a worldwide destination.” The main dining area is spacious

Chicken N Pickle’s cultural imperative to the community is to give back, with many philanthropic events and service-oriented endeavors to strengthen its neighborhood and beyond. In 2021, through its four locations, Chicken N Pickle supported more than 1,000 charitable organizations and donated over $70,000 to local nonprofits through its green cup campaign. “One of our key tenets is to give back to the communities we serve,” said Kelli Alldredge, vice president of engagement at Chicken N Pickle. “We say ‘our hearts are local’ because we support our communities through philanthropy and through our business practices. We are thrilled to become a part of the Glendale community and begin supporting the neighborhoods around us.” The Chicken N Pickle Foundation was formed in 2020 and works in partnership with local health, wellness and relationship-building charitable organizations to build long-lasting solutions to address the needs of the community. In the last year, the foundation has provided each store with $6,000 for the employees to identify and support nonprofit organizations in their area.
