Salad and Go opens first Glendale location BY GLENDALE STAR STAFF Salad and Go has officially opened its first Glendale restaurant, serving hearty salads and wraps, breakfast burritos, soup, lemonades, organic teas and cold brew. Located at 18573 N. 59th Avenue, Salad and Go offers all salads and wraps for $5.74 and includes chicken or organic tofu at no additional cost. Each salad fills a 48-ounce bowl with fresh, all-natural ingredients — some organically sourced — and a balance of veggies, proteins and healthy fats. Core items like the cobb and Caesar are complemented by customer favorites like the barbecue ranch and seasonal chef creations offering up variety and fresh new flavors. Dressings are house-made and preservative free, with no artificial flavors or ingredients. Salad and Go also offers breakfast featuring $1 organic cold brew and five breakfast burritos made with whole eggs and an all-natural tortilla and served with house-made salsa for $2.99. All 24-ounce drinks are also $1, including organic iced teas, housemade lemonades and frozen strawberry lemonade. In Arizona, additional ingredients
are purchased directly from farmers and suppliers, specifically to make 4,000 salads each week for those in need. These ingredients are sourced direct to ensure that salads donated meet the same quality and nutritional standards as salads served to guests
from stores. Glendale guests can pre-order on the Salad and Go app (available for both iOS and Android) or website. It is open from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
BY GLENDALE STAR STAFF Glendale Arts Council will host the 58th annual Juried Fine Arts Show on Saturday, Jan. 8; Sunday, Jan. 9; Tuesday, Jan. 11; and Sunday, Jan. 30, at Sahuaro Ranch Park, in the Historic Fruit Packing House, 9802 N. 59th Avenue, Glendale. This year’s annual Glendale Arts Council Show will feature fine art from Arizona artists in a wide range of mediums displayed in the charming house. Entries will be original
artworks, which include 2D framed drawings, pastels, and paintings like oils and watercolors, and will include 3D art, such as sculptures. All of the statewide entries will be displayed and for sale Jan. 8 and Jan. 9. Art will be selected by internationally recognized and award-winning artist Barbara Dahlstedt for the juried portion of the show, which will be displayed Jan. 11 to Jan. 30. The exhibition is free and open to the public 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. In addi-
tion to the show, there is a fundraising event, the preview party from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7. Jessica Koory, longtime Glendale Arts Council board member, said the show has grown from its first 1961 art show in the park, sponsored by the Glendale Woman’s Club and a group of interested artists, to a yearly tradition. “As the number of participating artists in the show increased,” said Koory, a Glendale resident and art enthusiast,

Glendale Arts Council hosting fine arts show “it was necessary to form a group to focus on the production of the yearly event.” GAC was formed in 1972 with the focus on giving artists a venue for presenting their artwork and exposing the general community to various talented artists.
