Why We Support Notre Dame Joe and Christine Carlini parents of Gabrielle ’15 and Victoria ’17 “When Joe and I moved to the Philadelphia area we had no preconceived ideas about our independent school choices,” recalls Christine Carlini. “We were in a great school district, but we are strong advocates for Catholic education and wanted that important moral formation for our children. We also felt strongly about the importance of a single-sex education.” “Of all the schools we visited, our eldest daughter, Gabrielle, chose Notre Dame and we are so happy she did. At Notre Dame, the students are given the freedom to make their own way and to be responsible for their own successes. The curriculum is personalized for the strengths of every student,” said Christine. Gabrielle, a National Merit Scholarship Winner, graduated from Notre Dame in 2015 and has just completed her first year as an engineering major at Vanderbilt University. “Engineering is still a male-dominated field,” said Christine. “Gabrielle feels competitive academically and she never feels intimidated in class. Notre Dame gave her the confidence that she can do anything.” “Our daughter Victoria is a senior at Notre Dame. Both girls are different in many ways, but Notre Dame’s approach to personalizing education and bringing out the best in every student has made the school a perfect fit for both of them.” “We support Notre Dame, not only because of the excellent education our daughters received, but because Notre Dame shares our commitment to providing a morally sound foundation for their students. We know that in order for a school to provide both a strong education and the guidance to make good and moral decisions in college and in their careers, it takes support from parents, alumnae, and the community.”

“Joe and I feel very strongly about students having both a quality education and a moral foundation that supports their Catholic identity. Contributing to the Annual Fund can help ensure that Notre Dame will continue this commitment, and who knows, some day our daughters may have daughters who will attend Notre Dame.” “There is a sisterhood at Notre Dame that is very unique,” said Christine. “Not only is there support and encouragement from the faculty, who are true professionals in their field, but from the girls who support each other. This is an uplifting, collaborative learning environment.” “We have seen firsthand how Notre Dame inspires students to reach their full potential. Participating in the Annual Fund is just one way for us to show our support for this very special school.”
