Heinz J. Heinemann It is with deep gratitude that this year’s donor appreciation book is dedicated to Heinz lived at Pennswood from 1999 until he passed in February 2022. Having achieved a degree with the aid of a scholarship, he was interested in higher education all his life and was a devoted donor to Pennswood’s Employee Scholarship Fund throughout his time here and posthumously through a legacy gift. Though we miss Heinz, it’s heartwarming to know that his legacy lives on through the lives he touched with his generosity.

PENNSWOOD VILLAGE FOUNDATION FISCAL YEAR 2022
While I write this letter of appreciation, we remain in the clutches of Covid and its many variations. Therefore, it is with enormous gratitude that we honor the generosity of so many donors to Pennswood Village and its diverse, important Funds. This book celebrates and acknowledges those wonderful donors. It is heartwarming to read through this enumeration of the many residents, families, employees, friends, and business associates who have chosen to dedicate financial resources to continue the spirit of generosity which has permeated this Community from its inception through over forty years of love and kindnesses for each other. We are a caring community indeed. This year is the third full year of operation of the Pennswood Village Foundation, the vehicle for an integrated fundraising program at Pennswood. The Foundation pulls together the corporate village, its residents’ association and its hospice care under one umbrella so that ways to give, tracking, and acknowledgement of donors’ gifts are simplified and accountable. From April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, the Foundation processed over 2,400 donations for a total of $967,664. This 2022 Donor Appreciation Book shows that there are many ways to express one’s wishes to ensure the future of our unique community, among them legacy giving. The generosity of past residents through legacy giving continues to be an important part of Pennswood’s future. We highlight the legacy donors of The Founders Society on the next two pages. The Pennswood community benefits enormously from all gifts, and extends a genuine thank you to everyone who made these commitments.
Sincerely, Bruce B. Woodger Chair, Pennswood Village Foundation Board
Dear generous supporters of Pennswood

Founders Society Members
The Founders Society was established in 2005 to gratefully acknowledge those who have left a legacy gift to Pennswood Village. As a member of the Founders Society, you have made a planned gift that speaks to the future of this Community – a legacy for those who will follow us. It is for them that we are planting trees, both literally and figuratively, just as we enjoy the trees planted by the Founders of Pennswood.
The following lists include current and past members since the establishment of Pennswood Village in 1980. For more information about leaving a legacy at Pennswood through an estate gift, contact the Executive Director of the Pennswood Village Foundation, 267-759-1068.

From the donor’s perspective, legacy giving isn’t primarily about financial planning or tax laws (although these considerations may be significant). It’s basically about the donor’s heart and soul, about making a lifetime gesture on behalf of something they deeply care about. It’s about the very meaning of one’s life and the mark they will leave on the world when they’re gone. That quest for a certain type of immortality is what ultimately inspires one to create a legacy gift as it did for me, for Pennswood Village.~John B. Means

The Pennswood Village Fellowship Fund provides reassurance that residents will have a home for life. Out of respect for the dignity of each resident and to fulfill our charitable mission, the Fellowship Fund ensures that no resident will be asked to leave the Pennswood Village community if he or she has outlived their financial assets. We are grateful to the individuals who made these gifts to the Fellowship fund between April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2022.
