Interbau-Blink is a historic German company based in the small town of Ransbach-Baumbach in the Westerwald region, famous for the high quality of its clay quarries. The company’s location guarantees not only access to the best ceramic raw materials but also economic sustainability of supplies due to the short transportation routes. The company’s main business is the production of extruded ceramic floor and wall tiles with a wide range of accessories aimed at both residential and architecture segments, including collections for swimming pools and special projects. In early 2014, the company’s management began to evaluate a possible expansion of its production range by entering a totally new and innovative segment, i.e. large ceramic panels manufactured using the latest revolutionary pressing technologies. The final decision was made in September 2016, when Interbau-Blink and System Ceramics signed the contract for the supply of a complete plant for the production of panels in sizes up to 1600 x 3200 mm. We met Michael Dickopf, CEO of Interbau-Blink, who explained the characteristics and objectives of the new industrial project. CWR: Could you give us a short overview of the history of

Interbau-Blink è una storica azienda tedesca che opera nella piccola città di Ransbach-Baumbach, nella regione del Westerwald, famosa per la qualità delle sue cave di argilla. La posizione geografica garantisce non solo l’accesso alle migliori materie prime ceramiche, ma anche la sostenibilità economica delle forniture data la breve distanza dai siti estrattivi. La produzione si concentra su piastrelle da pavimento e rivestimento fabbricate con processo di estrusione. La gamma, completata da una vasta serie di accessori e collezioni per piscine e progetti speciali, trova applicazione sia nel segmento residenziale che in architettura. All’inizio del 2014, la direzione dell’azienda iniziò a valutare la
possibile espansione della gamma produttiva con l’ingresso in un segmento totalmente nuovo e altrettanto innovativo, vale a dire le grandi lastre ceramiche prodotte con le più recenti e rivoluzionarie tecnologie di pressatura. La decisione finale è stata presa lo scorso settembre 2016, suggellata dalla firma dell’accordo tra l’azienda tedesca e System Ceramics per la fornitura di un impianto completo che fabbricherà lastre di formato fino a 1600 x 3200 mm.
