Buhari's Federal Appointments, State by State, as Released by the Presidency Ogun, Imo, Kano, Edo have highest slots Ebonyi, Abia, Kebbi least favoured Omololu Ogunmade in Abuja In a move designed to put an end to insinuations that a majority of President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointments was largely from the north, the presidency last night released documents showing state and geographical spread of appointments made by the President. In a graphical presentation of appointments ac-
cording to states, the southern state of Ogun top the list with 21 slots, followed by Imo and Kano with 15 slots each. They were closely trailed by Edo and the president’s home state, Katsina, with 14 appointments each. The graph tagged ‘agency appointments by state’, which was attached to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media, Mr. Femi Adesina, showed that the top
five beneficiaries of agency appointments by the President were three southern and two northern states. On the lower rung of the graph are Ebonyi (2), Abia (2), Kebbi (3), Zamfara (4), Sokoto (4) and Oyo (4), while the federal Capital Territory, Abuja, is yet to secure any agency appointment. Other states follow in this order: Anambra (13), Kogi (13), Kwara (13), Kaduna (12),
Adamawa (11), Bauchi (11), Borno (10), Lagos (10), Benue (9), Delta (9), Niger (9), Osun (9), Gombe (8), Jigawa (8), Rivers (7), Bayelsa (6), Ondo (6), Cross River (5), Nasarawa (5), Plateau (5), Taraba (5), Yobe (5), Akwa Ibom (4), Ekiti (4) and Enugu (4). In all there were 299 agency appointments shared among the states, according to the graph. Though another tag on the graph indicated that these
were ‘appointed CEOs’, neither the list of CEOs nor their agencies were released. A second document provided last night by the presidency contained a table of 157 agency and board appointments, including presidential aides, on geopolitical distribution basis. Though the tabulated list of appointments may not be exhaustive, the zonal distribution of the listed beneficia-
ries showed that South-west had the largest share. Of the 157 appointments in the table, South-west got 40. It was followed by the Northwest which got 30 slots. The North-east secured 24, while the North Central had 21. The table also showed that the South-east got 22 while the South-south got 20. The release of the list of Continued on page 9
