Terme di Saturnia Natural Destination

- TERME DI SATURNIA -

THDP returns to Tuscany to design the 1919 Restaurant, a new winter garden, and a relaxation area overlooking the spring pool

Terme di Saturnia Natural Destination, a temple of longevity in the heart of Tuscany’s Maremma region where wellness has revolved around its powerful thermal water for over 3000 years, reopens the doors of its Resort, Golf, and Club after a major renovation. The updates include a refreshed 1919 Restaurant, a new winter garden, and a relaxation area that overlooks the spring pool. The project also involves the revitalization of La Stellata Trattoria, a countrystyle restaurant overlooking the golf course.

This project puts the guest at the center of the experience: every innovation is the result of careful listening to their desires and, at times, even their

direct suggestions—particularly those of the many loyal guests who return regularly to Terme di Saturnia.

The concept for the winter garden with a relaxation area by the spring pool and the 1919 Restaurant, designed by THDP, stems from the desire to highlight the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, fulfilling guests’ wish to dine or enjoy breakfast while admiring the spring water. To achieve this, both areas feature an outdoor-inspired look and feel.

Finishes were harmonized between interior and exterior using saturated tones in line with the wall finishes. In the winter garden, walls remain neutral as very little surface is exposed. The backdrop of the veranda features a vinyl wall covering named Pini Marittimi, designed by Marta Cortese. This wallpaper by Jannelli & Volpi extends the view from the springs to the hills of Saturnia, creating the illusion of a continuous natural landscape.

Inside the 1919 Restaurant, THDP chose another Jannelli & Volpi wallpaper with a classical floral motif, extending the rustic theme seen throughout the project. Leaf patterns evoking the gardens of Saturnia, with olive green and terracotta hues, complete the ambiance. Interior walls are finished

with a terracotta effect, and the ceilings are painted a dusty blue to evoke a serene water-like atmosphere.

Most furnishings are by Talenti Outdoor, including armchairs accented with leaf-patterned decorative cushions, matching the custom-designed dishware for these spaces. Tables feature glazed Zellige terracotta tiles by Marazzi in tones that echo the spring.

Indoors, Livoni’s cozy armchairs surround round tables. Decorative lighting by Toscot, a Tuscan

company specializing in handmade terracotta, is used in both the restaurant and the winter garden. In the latter, point-suspension lights evoke string lighting, giving the appearance of a large lantern reflected on the water—visible even from the outside at night.

THDP also created a new indoor relaxation lounge next to the Roman bath, expanding the guest experience with loungers facing the spring. A sliding door connects this lounge with the restaurant, creating a flexible space for events.

The relaxation lounge features a central firepit surrounded by welcoming poufs, ideal for unwinding. Two Talenti swings, positioned toward the spring, complete the room. Furnishing colors are natural tones of rope and sand. Along the walls, Talenti loungers with cushions and light curtains offer privacy.

Key brands involved in the project include Talenti, Citielle, Delius, Abitex, Toscot, Livoni, Fluxo, Marazzi, Anellari, Jannelli & Volpi for wallpapers, and Keracoll for water-based acrylic paints.

The project was designed and managed by THDP for interior design, with architectural support by Silvia Statella.

Terme di saturnia natural destination

120 hectares of wellness powered by an ancient spring whose unique, powerful waters emerge at the foot of a medieval village.

At the heart of this paradise stands the Terme di Saturnia Natural Destination Resort, whose magic lies in its Source—water that resurfaces naturally after a 40-year journey through the earth, emerging at a constant 37.5°C. This water has benefited everyone from popes and farmers to generals and kings for over 3000 years, thanks to its antioxidant,

anti-inflammatory, and dermatological properties, earning it a place among the global elite in wellness destinations.

Today, Terme di Saturnia Natural Destination is a one-of-a-kind sanctuary in Tuscany’s Maremma, a temple of natural longevity and an icon of luxury hospitality and well-being. It’s a Historic Brand offering over a century of excellence, service, and a unique connection with nature. The 5-star resort is affiliated with The Leading Hotels of the World and Starhotels Collezione.

Its refined gastronomic offerings include the 1919 Restaurant—the oldest in the Maremma—and the authentic La Stellata Trattoria. The resort also features a full-service SPA with thermal and aesthetic treatments, medical consultations, and innovative massages inspired by nature’s gifts.

The Active Beauty line of thermal cosmetics is made with Bio-Plancton, a spontaneously maturing alga from the Source rich in minerals and beneficial nitrogenous substances. The Thermal Park is among Europe’s largest, blending water and nature, while the Club caters to members and external guests seeking access to the Source and resort facilities. The championship-level, Geo-Certified 18-hole Golf course spans 70 rolling hectares, designed by renowned American architect Ronald Fream.

Terme di Saturnia is a wellness pioneer, thanks to the Terme di Saturnia Method, which integrates five key elements for psycho-physical wellness: specialist medicine, nutrition, SPA and thermal treatments, movement, and energy rebalancing through naturopathy.

A stage for world-class events, the 5-star resort and Thermal Park are global icons of hospitality and well-being. The hotel was ranked among the world’s top 5 SPA Resorts by Travel + Leisure for the second consecutive year in 2023.

But numbers alone can’t capture the emotion and loyalty of guests who choose Saturnia year after year as their ideal wellness destination.

Terme di Saturnia Natural Destination is part of Terme & SPA Italia, a group founded in Rome in 2021, which brings together Italy’s most iconic thermal and SPA locations, including Terme di Chianciano and Monticello SPA. With the acquisition of Terme di Saturnia, the group aims to meet the growing demand for health and wellness with innovative services and experiences complementing traditional offerings.

The Lanesborough London

The

No 1 Bespoke Furniture Contractor

- HELLO OF MAYFAIR INTERIORS -

Commanding a prestigious position at Hyde Park Corner, The Lanesborough stands as a paragon of London’s luxury hospitality. Widely regarded as one of the capital’s most iconic five-star establishments, the hotel is distinguished by its effortless blend of Regency-era splendour and modern refinement.

Described as possessing a distinctive “Regency spirit,” The Lanesborough’s interiors pay elegant tribute to a bygone age, brought to life through impeccable design and masterful craftsmanship. Every element within its walls contributes to an atmosphere of cultivated grace — and none more so than the hotel’s newest centrepiece: a bespoke concierge desk.

Tasked with reimagining the principal concierge desk, Hello of Mayfair Interiors approached the commission with reverence for the hotel’s illustrious architectural heritage and a commitment to innovation. The objective was to design a piece that would sit in harmonious dialogue with the building’s 19th-century character, while seamlessly integrating the functionality demanded by today’s discerning guests.

With over 20 years of experience in the creation of fine bespoke furniture, our studio’s artisans crafted a stunning reinterpretation of a classic antique design. The result is a concierge desk that speaks fluently in the language of timeless design, elevated with discreet, state-of-the-art technology to enhance both form and function.

From the grandeur of public rooms to the subtle luxury of the suites, The Lanesborough’s interiors rely on curated pieces that define the guest journey. This latest addition — a stately fusion of mahogany and rosewood — serves as the guest’s first tactile encounter with the hotel’s narrative of elegance.

Designed with meticulous attention to both detail and practicality, the desk features twin 16inch touchscreen monitors with motorised tilt functionality (15–30 degrees), allowing for remote or manual adjustment. Drawers are carefully conceived with integrated locking systems and built-in mobile and tablet charging stations. A suite of 14 concealed power points, including USB-A and USB-C ports, ensures effortless connectivity. Sophisticated LED

lighting, with customisable colour settings, subtly enhances the ambiance and visual harmony of the space.

At Hello of Mayfair Interiors, our signature lies in the pursuit of traditional craftsmanship, preserved through generations of artisanal skill. Every joint, curve, and surface of this concierge desk is the product of time-honoured woodworking techniques, realised with the precision required by luxury hospitality.

The final creation is both evocative of The Lanesborough’s rich past and perfectly attuned to its present — a masterstroke of design that conveys prestige, permanence, and a warm welcome.

More than a point of service, this concierge desk is a symbol of identity and style — a curated statement of The Lanesborough’s commitment to excellence, sophistication, and the art of first impressions.

Curated by the hotel’s sommelier, this elegant space hosts guided wine tastings, indulgent wine-and-cheese evenings, and exclusive experiences for devoted wine lovers. Each gathering is complemented by artisan Welsh cheeses and locally sourced charcuterie, enjoyed within the intimate glow of the cellar’s atmospheric stone walls.

& Art Studio

The hotel’s Fine Art & Antiques Studio now houses the Pottery Studio, where ceramicist-in-residence Jo-Anna Duncalf leads small, mindful workshops. Guests can work at the wheel or by hand to shape, decorate and glaze their own pieces, with colour palettes inspired by the surrounding gardens. The tranquil setting offers creative inspiration at every turn, and each session concludes with a seasonal lunch prepared by the hotel’s chefs.

Clay Pigeon Shooting

In keeping with the traditions of a country estate, Palé Hall now offers guided clay pigeon shooting sessions within its scenic grounds, with views stretching over the surrounding hills and woodland. For the first time in its history, Palé Hall will introduce a luxury Fitness Studio and Treatment Rooms to enhance its wellness offering. The new gym will feature state-of-the-art NOHRD equipment and host a variety of energising and restorative classes. In the serene treatment rooms, guests can enjoy an indulgent menu of massages and wellness therapies delivered by expert therapists. Illuminating Montcalm Mayfair

- DERNIER & HAMLYN -

In the heart of Mayfair, the newly reimagined Montcalm Mayfair stands as a celebration of refined British luxury. Tasked with creating bespoke lighting for the hotel’s public spaces, Dernier & Hamlyn brought over a century of craftsmanship to one of London’s most anticipated hospitality openings.

Working in close collaboration with Louise East of Studio Est, the team designed and manufactured a suite of entirely new, one-off pieces for the hotel’s lobby, bar, restaurant and meeting rooms. Each fixture was meticulously engineered to reflect the design narrative – a balance of contemporary elegance and timeless sophistication – while meeting the demanding technical and aesthetic standards of a five-star property.

A defining feature of the project is the restaurant’s striking centrepiece installation. Spanning the ceiling with a sweeping, sculptural form, the piece is composed of hundreds of individually crafted elements, assembled with precision to achieve both visual drama and perfect illumination. The result is a focal point that enhances the space by day and transforms it after dark.

Every piece presented its own challenge. From complex metalwork and custom finishes to specialist glass components, the manufacturing process

combined traditional hand skills with modern production techniques to deliver fixtures that are as robust as they are beautiful.

For Dernier & Hamlyn – established in 1888 and still designing and making in Britain – the Montcalm Mayfair was an opportunity to once again demonstrate how bespoke lighting can shape atmosphere, elevate interiors and express a brand’s identity. The result is a series of unique installations that not only illuminate, but also define, the hotel’s character – ensuring that Montcalm Mayfair’s guests experience a sense of place that is as memorable as it is luxurious.

Wrought Iron and Brass Bed Co. – Supporting Interior Designers, Boutique Hotels & B&Bs

In an industry where detail, durability, and distinctiveness matter, Wrought Iron and Brass Bed Co. is setting a new standard for hospitality interiors. Based in rural Norfolk and proudly family-owned, the company has spent over 20 years handcrafting beds and mattresses that deliver not only on quality and style but also on substance and sustainability.

Serving an ever-growing network of interior designers, boutique hotels, and B&Bs, Wrought Iron and Brass Bed Co. partners with trade clients to create bespoke, made-to-order pieces that enhance guest experience and reflect a property’s unique identity.

A Bed Built to Last

At the heart of the company’s offering is its celebrated range of handmade metal beds. Each frame is individually crafted in their Norfolk Workshop using time-honoured blacksmithing techniques and solid British steel. Real brass and nickel details are available, alongside an extensive palette of standard and custom colour finishes.

Unlike mass-produced alternatives, these beds are made to order, allowing for flexibility in size, finish, and even design. Whether working to a period brief or creating a bold contemporary feature, Wrought Iron and Brass Bed Co. can produce a centrepiece that is both beautiful and built to last — a crucial consideration in busy hospitality environments where longevity matters as much as design.

Recent collaborations with boutique hotels, countryside inns, and luxury farm stays demonstrate the appeal of a bed that offers timeless visual appeal with commercial-grade durability. Many clients choose to customise finishes or request exclusive designs, supported by the company’s small, skilled team who are deeply committed to quality and service.

Natural Comfort, Ethically Made

Alongside their bed frames, Wrought Iron and Brass Bed Co. also produces a collection of natural, handcrafted mattresses designed specifically for comfort-conscious and sustainability-minded properties.

Made in the UK using 100% traceable British wool and other natural fillings, the mattresses are free from synthetics and chemical treatments. The Art of Luxury

- THE SHEPHERD HOTEL -

Shepherd & creates interior design for The Shepherd Mayfair, Hotel – a new Mayfair landmark redefining luxury hospitality

Due to open in late 2025, The Shepherd Mayfair, Hotel is a bold new presence in the heart of Mayfair, an 82-key hotel that reinterprets British luxury through a modern lens. From Timothy Shepherd’s previous role as Managing Director at Buckley Gray Yeoman ID, Shepherd& has continued their client relationship with Bain Capital and Orka Investments for The Shepherd Mayfair, Hotel. The design team at Shepherd& was responsible for creating a narrative through intelligent design and the collective work of the design teams at all the practices involved through the architecture, interior design, the visual arts and into the brand creation, working closely with the Hotel Operators on every element to create a personal experience for the guests visiting the hotel and its bars, cafe and restaurant.

Bordering Park Lane and the iconic Shepherd Market, this new hotel pays homage to Mayfair’s layered and cultural history whilst also evolving it for the modern guest, forming a personality entirely of its own. This 18th Century marketplace is considered by many to be a ‘hidden gem’, with the hotel’s original building dating back to the 1970s.

With over thirty years of global design leadership and connections, Timothy Shepherd, Founder and Managing Director of Shepherd&, took the lead on the project alongside architecture & interior design practice Buckley Gray Yeoman, shaping every element of the guest experience with high attention to detail. Supporting Timothy were previous BGY employees and fellow Shepherd& founders, Marko Gligorov, Sara Rosellini & Freda Shepherd, working with the client team to ensure the continuity of vision and delivery.

“We created and continually developed the narrative of The Shepherd Mayfair, with attention paid to a carefully combined architectural and design approach. We have taken this thought process into specific areas, from the guest experience, culinary offering, to the cocktail bar.” states Timothy Shepherd.

From the moment guests enter the covered walkway that leads from Stanhope Row, they are introduced to a true interpretation of hospitality. Shepherd& has used exceptional storytelling through design to create an elegant aesthetic that is rooted in British design tradition and reflective of the building’s history.

Every element of the interior design, including the curated materials and textures, has been carefully considered and selected. Colour palettes shift from deep, warm tones in shared spaces to refined cooler shades in the guest rooms. Custom details, such as a reimagined banker’s lamp, chess tables and silver trays all add layers of personality and opulence.

Beyond the rooms and suites, The Shepherd Mayfair, Hotel is also home to ‘Teddy’s’, an intimate cocktail bar tucked beneath the hotel. Designed to draw in the

late-night crowd, it offers elegant sophistication and features Liberty archive fabrics paired with handpicked photography from George McLeod portfolio. ‘Fayre’, the ground floor brasserie, introduces a new culinary space to the neighbourhood with a focus on seasonally inspired dishes, and carefully curated wallcoverings from Adam Ellis Studio, while the lobby café/bar softens the guest arrival experience with lounge-like comfort, encouraging pause but also work and, much needed these days, conversation. Once again, the artwork selection plays a key role— bringing the space to life with a curated mix of images, including pieces from Jack English’s archive, bespoke illustrations by John Broadley, and ad-hoc photography created specifically for the Hotel.

Part of the larger development is 36-37 Hertford Street residential apartments that add an extra slice of splendour, privacy, and intrigue to the project. Neighbouring The Shepherd Mayfair hotel, the apartments are within two restored Georgian townhouses designed by 17th-century visionaries Robert Adam and Henry Holland. Buckley Gray Yeoman acted as the base build architect, while the interior design was led by Timothy, the team at Shepherd&, building on the initial concepts by Albion Nord. Comprising one, two and three bedroom apartments, each one embodies a sense of considered luxury and opulence. Residents will also benefit from privileged access to bespoke services provided by The Shepherd Mayfair, ensuring a lifestyle of effortless luxury.

More than a design studio, Shepherd& works as an atelier - drawing upon a trusted network of artisans, makers, photographers, and longstanding collaborators to bring each project to life. A key partner within this project is Apparatus, whose sculptural lighting and material sensibility added a layer of considered drama and refinement. Another key creative partner, as hinted above, is photographer Jack English, celebrated for his work across film, music, and fashion. His photography collection, selected by Timothy for The Shepherd, is a true reflection of their longstanding creative relationships and George McLeod, fine art photographer of the year, who’s series of recreated classical portraiture brings a modern interpretation to the guest rooms and arrival.

Shepherd& is delivering a hotel that blends design with cultural insight within hospitality, that is both personal and elevated - a hallmark of their design philosophy.

SCult x Batch LDN: Where Design Meets Modern Retail

- CULT FURNITURE -

Cult Furniture has transformed contemporary menswear brand Batch LDN, to reimagine what a retail space can be blending boutique hospitality with bold, functional design. The result? A confident, lifestyle-driven store experience that looks as sharp as the suits on display.

Retail today is about more than products; it’s about creating immersive environments that reflect a brand’s identity and connect with customers on a deeper level. This ethos is at the heart of the collaboration between Cult Furniture and contemporary menswear label Batch LDN, known for redefining the modern suit.

Tasked with furnishing Batch LDN’s central London space, Cult set out to create an interior that feels as confident and considered as the garments themselves. The result is a design-led, hospitalityinspired environment that invites guests to stay, connect, and engage, not just shop.

Key pieces were selected to enhance both form and function:

Lounge Seating: Soft, sculptural chairs and pouffes invite visitors to relax, encouraging dwell time and supporting a more immersive shopping experience.

Bar Seating: Sleek stools bring structure to Batch LDN’s in-store coffee and bar area, adding a social, laid-back edge to the retail space.

Workspaces: Communal tables encourage creativity and connection, bridging the gap between lifestyle and retail.

As more brands prioritise curated, experience-first spaces, the Cult x Batch LDN partnership offers a blueprint for the future of retail. This is design with intent — where every material, silhouette, and layout choice helps elevate the customer journey.

This collaboration reflects a shared belief in modern, purposeful design. It shows how thoughtful interiors don’t just complement a brand, they amplify it, transforming everyday retail into something far more meaningful.

DESIDERIO IS NOT JUST A BRAND.

We are not just a choice; we are statement of quality, innovation, sustainability, and art.

Design with Soul: Anthony Rudolph on Craft, Storytelling, and the Beauty of Timeworn Pieces

- NICOLAS JAMES STUDIO -

In a world of fast trends and mass production, interior design at its best tells a deeper story—one of craftsmanship, character, and a genuine sense of place. In this exclusive Q&A, we speak with Anthony Rudolph at Nicolas James Group whose work captures the quiet beauty of layered design: vintage finds, natural textures, and interiors that feel collected rather than curated. With a strong eye for detail and a love of storytelling through space, their approach is rooted in authenticity and emotion.

A key part of this process is thoughtful sourcing, and few places offer more inspiration than Lots Road Auctions. Established in 1979 and now based in Fulham’s iconic Piper Building, Lots Road is a longstanding favourite among designers for its weekly auctions of antiques, vintage pieces, and decorative objects. It’s a place where unexpected treasures are found, and where craftsmanship and history take centre stage—an ideal match for a design philosophy that values soul over style.

NJG is a boutique construction company known for delivering high-end residential and commercial spaces with exceptional attention to detail. Collaborating closely with architects, designers, and clients, NJG brings vision to life with integrity, craftsmanship, and care—building environments that stand the test of time.

1. What inspires your work?

I’m inspired by so many things - it could be the colours and textures of a market in Morocco, the texture of weathered timber in a Cornish harbour, or the way sunlight falls across an old brick wall on my own street. I’m constantly observing - shapes, materials, proportions, shadows - and storing them away in my mind. I love to explore the local environment of each project and pick up on the natural design language, colours, and textures of the land or cityscape. The tones of the coastline, the rhythm of a historic street, or even the craftsmanship of a local artisan can influence a palette or a layout. Using vintage and auction pieces fits beautifully into this - they anchor a design in time, making it feel layered and as though it has grown naturally, rather than being installed all at once.

2. Why do you use vintage pieces?

Vintage brings a different quality of luxury - a “quiet luxury” that isn’t showy but feels deeply considered. These pieces carry their own stories; the slight wear on a leather armchair, the softening of a rug’s colours over decades, the way a hand-carved detail catches the light. In commercial projects like hotels, where

there’s often pressure to source in bulk, vintage offers individuality and depth. It ensures no two rooms are identical, and it creates the same kind of emotional connection you might have in your own home, where every piece has been collected over time.

3. How does sustainability fit into your approach?

Sustainability for me is about progress, not perfection. I’m learning more with each project, always finding ways to improve my approach. Reusing and repurposing items with history is one of the most meaningful ways I can design more responsibly - it avoids unnecessary manufacturing and waste, while preserving craftsmanship that might otherwise be lost. Many of my projects also involve breathing new

life into existing buildings, which is inherently more sustainable than starting from scratch. It’s about working in harmony with what already exists, rather than replacing it without thought.

4. How do you define luxury in your projects?

Luxury, to me, isn’t always about the price tag - it’s about the emotional response. It’s the comfort of a chair that fits you perfectly, the richness of a handwoven textile, the way light moves across a space at different times of day. Vintage and antique pieces bring a rarefied quality because they can’t just be ordered from a supplier catalogue -they’ve lived lives before they reach you. That’s a form of luxury you can’t mass-produce.

5. What role does craftsmanship play in your design philosophy?

Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything I value in design. I love pieces where you can see the maker’s hand - a dovetail joint, hand-stitched leather, carved timber. In an era where AI and automation are becoming part of every corner of life, those human touches are more precious than ever. I also believe authenticity will be one of the most important forms of value in the future. A first edition book, a piece of 1960s pottery, a handwoven rug - these are the kinds of things people will increasingly choose to invest their time and money into, because they carry permanence, history, and soul that technology can’t replicate. Preserving that is important to me, and incorporating it into spaces gives them a richness that lasts.

6. How do you approach sourcing?

Sourcing for me is part detective work, part instinct, and part serendipity. I have my favourite places - auctions, vintage markets, and Lots Road which is close to home and has been a constant source of inspiration. The way pieces are arranged there is often delightfully unplanned; a marble lamp beside a brass mirror, a velvet chair tucked under a rustic table. Those accidental combinations spark ideas you’d never get from looking at a supplier’s website.

7. How do you balance old and new?

I see old and new as partners rather than opposites. A modern sofa can be grounded by an antique rug; a contemporary light can bring freshness to a traditional room. The aim is to make spaces feel as if they could have existed for years, with layers of additions over time, rather than pinned to a single style or era.

8. What makes your work different?

I think it’s the sense of time I try to create. My interiors rarely look like they were “done” in one go - they feel as though they’ve grown into themselves over years, with every piece considered and connected. That layering of history, texture, and personality gives them warmth and authenticity.

9. How does place influence your interiors?

Place is everything. I design with the idea that a space should feel like it belongs exactly where it is. For a coastal property, that might mean picking up on the textures and colours of the shoreline; for a city project, it could be about echoing the geometry of surrounding architecture. I want the interiors to feel like a continuation of their setting, so that they’re both distinctive and deeply connected to their location.

10. What do you hope people feel when they experience your work?

I want my spaces to feel uplifting and joyful - places where people instinctively relax and feel at ease. And, as cliché as it sounds, I want them to feel like home, even if it’s just for the time they’re there. I hope guests notice the little details, the layers of story, and the care that’s gone into creating them, so they leave feeling both inspired and comfortable.

Why Front-of-House Teams Are Ditching Spray Bottles for Ready-to-Use Wipes

- PDI -

In today’s hospitality landscape, first impressions count. Guests expect visible cleanliness, quick turnarounds, and seamless service. For front-ofhouse teams, traditional spray-and-cloth methods just can’t keep up. That’s why many are switching to ready-to-use sanitising wipes, and not looking back.

Reusable cloths, even when laundered regularly, can harbour bacteria and spread germs. During busy service, it’s easy to lose track of what’s been sanitised. Ready-to-use wipes remove that uncertainty. Each one is fresh, pre-dosed with the right amount of solution, and disposed of after use, minimising crosscontamination and boosting hygiene confidence.

They also save time. Whether you’re resetting tables, wiping menus, or cleaning card machines, wipes are faster and more convenient. No need to juggle bottles and cloths, just grab, wipe, and go. It’s efficient, consistent, and ideal for high-pressure environments.

Introducing Sani Professional – The No.1 Foodservice Wipe Brand And when it comes to sustainability, there’s no need to compromise. Innovations like Protect 360°

biodegradable sanitising wipes are 100% plastic-free, plant-based, and packaged in recyclable materials, helping venues stay green while staying clean.

“These wipes are thicker, more effective, and even gentle on my skin. No smears, no irritation, and perfect for quick cleans during events when time’s tight,” says Debbi Scobell, Hospitality & Events Coordinator at Forest Green Rovers, the greenest football club in the world.

In a sector where hygiene and perception go hand in hand, ready-to-use wipes help teams deliver visible, effective cleaning, quickly and responsibly.

Hypnos Brings the Comfort to the Lake Como Vibes of Langdale Chase Hotel

- HYPNOS -

Woolsleeper contract mattresses from Hypnos have been chosen by Thwaites for the recently refurbished Langdale Chase Hotel.

Standing on the shores of Lake Windermere, Langdale Chase Hotel offers a rare blend of historic charm, peaceful views, and thoughtful luxury. Owned by Thwaites, a family-run hospitality company with a collection of hotels and inns across England, this lakeside sanctuary is rooted in laidback luxury, craftsmanship and character. In 2024 it was named as one the UK’s top three places to stay by The Times and Sunday Times, as well as being named the North Hotel of the Year and Countryside Hotel of the Year.

In 2023, Thwaites underwent a careful restoration of this iconic lakeside property that dates back to 1890. Putting stewardship at the heart of every design

decision has seen the hotel become one of the best in the country, bringing together Victorian elegance and modern comforts, all while honouring the natural beauty that surrounds it. In a collaboration that brings together two family-run British businesses, Thwaites chose handcrafted Hypnos mattresses not only because of exceptional comfort and support, but also because of a shared eye for detail and a love of heritage.

Mike Vincent, general manager, said, “We wanted our guests to feel completely at ease, wrapped in calm and comfort. Hypnos was a natural choice because its values around sustainability and craftmanship mirror everything we stand for at Langdale Chase.”

Thwaites selected the Woolsleeper mattress from the Hypnos Signature Hotel Collection. Each mattress is expertly handcrafted in the UK using 100% British wool that can be traced right back to the farm. The wool is certified Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) and sees British farmers paid a fair price for the wool they supply through The Woolkeepers scheme. With eOlus layers to add luxury and covered in sustainably sourced, unbleached cotton and viscose to provide a luxurious, breathable sleeping surface; the mattress is handcrafted by Hypnos in Princes Risborough.

David Baldry, group managing director, Hypnos, said, “Working with Thwaites and the team at Langdale Chase has been a real pleasure. We’re aligned in our dedication to British heritage, quality, and creating memorable experiences through thoughtful design. Our Signature Hotel Collection mattresses bring all of this together, offering luxurious comfort that’s responsibly made to last.”

The hotel’s 30 bedrooms celebrate original period features while offering modern luxuries, including minibars and locally made Cumbrian toiletries from Bath House. For something even more private, guests can book the standalone Boathouse Suite, complete with a rooftop terrace and wraparound

balcony. From luxurious beds to experiences aboard the hotel’s beautifully restored 1928 wooden motor boat, Langdale Chase invites guests to slow down and reconnect with nature in a setting The Times has likened to ‘Lake Como vibes in the Lake District’.

Discover more about the philosophy behind Langdale Chase in the latest edition of the Hotel Hypnos conversation series, where Alys Bryan, moderator and speaker, sits down with Mike Vincent, general manager for the hotel: www.hypnoscontractbeds. com/uk/hotel-hypnos.

Sofa bed Rufus

- MILANO BEDDING -

The sofa bed Rufus, with minimal, harmonious lines and generous proportions, stands out for its low frame, almost touching the floor, an innovative feature for convertible sofas.

Even with this particularity, the sofa, thanks to careful research and development work conducted by the company together with the designer, easily transforms into a spacious bed, with a practical and silent mechanism that allows you to extract a thin but highly comfortable mattress, 200 cm long.

Sober and elegant, the sofa is also defined by a deep seat with a single welcoming cushion that invites you to relax.

Rufus therefore combines elegance and comfort without sacrificing functionality, a common thread of all the proposals by Milano Bedding.

The model is available in a linear sofa or with a chaise longue and can be covered with numerous fabrics and leathers.

Rufus has a completely removable cover and is also available without the bed mechanism.

Independent Hotel Show 2025 to explore a theme of Redefining Luxury

- INDEPENDENT HOTEL SHOW -

Registration is now open for Independent Hotel Show 2025, in partnership with James Hallam Insurance Brokers, which returns to Olympia London on 6–7 October.

As the UK’s only trade event dedicated to the boutique, independent and luxury hotel sector, the show brings together thousands of hoteliers, designers and hospitality leaders for two days of networking, discussion and high-quality product sourcing.

The 2025 edition will centre on the theme Redefining Luxury, exploring how the concept is shifting to meet evolving guest expectations. Across three stages more than 80 industry leaders will address the increasing importance of personalisation, sustainable choices, timeless design and emotional connection, providing hoteliers with practical ideas to adapt and grow in a changing market. Speakers from across the sector will share perspectives on how these elements are influencing operations, investment decisions and guest experience.

Discussing the theme of Redefining Luxury for this year’s event, Independent Hotel Show Event Manager Glenn Wallace comments: “For today’s travellers, polished sameness no longer holds appeal. Guests are looking for experiences that are meaningful and emotionally resonant, and they are willing to pay for authenticity over opulence. For hoteliers, personalisation is paramount. It’s a word that comes up time and time again when we discuss luxury: creating once-in-a-lifetime moments that remain with guests long after departure.

“Beyond exceptional service, sustainability and inclusivity must be built into every stage of the guest journey. Modern travellers want to feel they are making a positive impact and are truly included, and hotels that embrace this ethos will create connections that last well beyond a single stay.”

The show’s seminar programme will not only address evolving definitions of luxury in the hotel space, but will bring in speakers such as Roger Saul, Founder of

Mulberry, and Jacques-Henri Brive, Head of Luxury at Chivas Brothers, to discuss what hospitality can learn from luxury brands outside of the sector.

On the Hotel Business Stage, in partnership with eviivo, sessions will range from ‘Tech-Enabled Hospitality: Five Forces Redefining Guest Experience’ to ‘From Cost Centre to Profit Driver: Rethinking Hotel Food & Beverage’.

Jessica Gillingham, Founder and CEO of Abode Worldwide, will address the role of technology in strengthening guest relationships, noting: “The hotels that will lead hospitality’s next era are those that embrace technology as a way to enhance, rather than replace, human connection.”

Scot Turner, Founder and Managing Director of Auden Hospitality, will outline strategies for elevating hotel F&B performance and exclusively unveil the results of wide-ranging research by HotStats into hotel F&B. He comments: “Rethinking how food and beverage is delivered can turn it into a defining part of the guest experience and a genuine revenue driver.”

The Hotel Innovation Stage, designed by Design Command, will present topics including ‘Smart Savings: Innovative Cost-Cutting Without Compromise, Wellness as a Commercial Strategy’, and ‘The Future of Revenue Management’.

Claudia Abt, Chief Design Officer at citizenM, says: “Creative approaches can deliver operational savings without undermining quality, which is essential for hotels seeking to maintain a sense of luxury in challenging market conditions.”

Design will also be examined through sessions such as ‘New Rules, New Roles: How Hotel Designers Must Evolve’, where Steven Thorpe, Associate at Conran and Partners, will discuss the expanding responsibilities of hotel designers. “Hotels are no longer just places to stay — they are cultural touchpoints, and design needs to reflect that,” he comments.

Find suppliers to elevate your guest experience

In addition to the seminar programme, the show will feature a curated selection of more than 200 exhibitors offering products and services for independent and boutique properties, spanning technology, interiors, linens, amenities, wellness, inroom F&B, furniture and more. Among the companies making their debut at the show are Belltrees Forge, with bespoke handforged lighting and furniture made in Scotland, and Hunter Amenities, presenting sustainable, customisable guest amenities to the UK market for the first time.

Each year, the Independent Hotel Show collaborates with leading design studios to transform the event into an immersive, design-led environment, reflecting the beautifully designed spaces that characterise boutique and luxury hotels. For 2025, partners include DV8 Designs for the Hotel Business Stage, Black Ivy for The Members Suite, Design Command for the Hotel Innovation Stage, Ches & Co for the Social Business Space, Amit Dixit Design for The Dining Room, SASI Studio for The Lobby Entrance, and studio ATARA for the Sales Lounge.

The Independent Hotel Show Awards, in partnership with Preferred Hotels & Resorts, will return to celebrate excellence across categories including Independent Hotel of the Year, Hotel Design of the Year, Hotel Rising Star and the Outstanding Contribution award. The winners will be announced during the event, on the afternoon of 6 October.

The Independent Hotel Show returns to Olympia on 6-7 October. To find out more about everything happening as part of this year’s event, and to register for your trade ticket, visit independenthotelshow.co.uk. www.independenthotelshow.co.uk

Nature, Symbolism and Art in the Interior: How We Reimagined Chinese Aesthetics

- AR TU DESIGN STUDIO -

For over two decades, in the very heart of Almaty among city bustle, there has been a unique, historic location — the Chinese restaurant “Hanshaim”. Our studio team completed a full renovation of the restaurant’s ground floor in just 3,5 months from the design concept to the final decorative touches and landscaping.

The main goal was to create a unique atmosphere — Chinese in spirit, but with an author’s interpretation.

• The central art object became the elegant basrelief composition “Princess.” Gilded and handinlaid with rhinestones, lace, pearls, and semiprecious stones.

• One of the most challenging stages of the project was the “Columns” — differing in size, placement, and containing a complex internal system of

utilities. However, we turned this into an advantage by integrating them into the overall artistic basrelief composition, with delicate leaves appearing on the columns, setting rhythm and mood.

• Another key detail was the “Screen,” handcrafted by our team. It was decorated with gold and copper leaf, then patinated to give the petals a noble texture and the effect of embossed copper. The lotus — a symbol of purity and peace — became the accent connecting all elements of the interior with the culture of the Celestial Empire.

The love of nature and plants goes back centuries of Chinese culture. We were inspired by this philosophy and decided to fill the interior with floral images organically woven into architecture and decor.

• One of the client’s requests was to design a “Bar under the stairs.” This gave rise to the idea of shaping the upper part of the bar like a cliff. This artistic element not only created a striking zoning of the space but also blended harmoniously into the natural concept of the interior. No space today is complete without greenery. For this project, we developed a series of green compositions — most notably the “Welcoming Tree” in the lobby, spanning 7 meters. It emphasized not only the Asian style but also added freshness, coziness, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere to the space.

• One of the art objects we are especially proud of is the “Island” installation. Inspired by images from Chinese painting, we adapted the idea to the restaurant’s style, creating a composition reminiscent of mountainous landscapes — as if painted in ink.

This project is not just about renovation. It is a story of thoughtful renewal, of traditions interwoven with modernity, of love for beauty in all its forms.

Sorrells x Row on 5: Wine, Design, and British Heritage on Savile Row

- SORRELLS -

Row on 5 is the new flagship restaurant by chef Jason Atherton, created in partnership with Executive Chef Spencer Metzger, and located on London’s iconic Savile Row. It is the first fine dining restaurant to open on this 290-year-old street, celebrated worldwide for its bespoke tailoring and British heritage. Within just three months of opening, Row on 5 was awarded a Michelin star, a reflection of the precision and care behind every detail.

When Atherton took on the former Kilgour tailoring house, the space was a blank canvas. The goal was to transform it into an intimate restaurant that paid tribute to its address while delivering an entirely different type of craftsmanship: fine cuisine supported by one of the capital’s most ambitious wine programmes.

Atherton set out to create a restaurant that reflected the values of Savile Row - heritage, excellence, and refinement. He committed to using British produce and working with local makers from the start. Choosing Sorrells for the wine storage was a key part of that vision.

A British, family-run company with a background in heritage work, Sorrells manufactures all elements in-house, from handcrafted joinery to bespoke metalwork. This approach aligned closely with Atherton’s values, and the partnership began at the earliest design stage, while the space was still in its raw state.

Creating Storage Around the Wine List

Sorrells worked with the sommelier team to design specific storage areas for key parts of the list, not simply filling space, but tailoring each unit to its purpose. The outcome, seven wine storage areas throughout the space, each with a distinct role. Positioned across the restaurant, they were designed to be functional for staff while contributing to the visual identity of the venue. Guests seated in the lounge encounter the first displays within moments of arriving, making wine a part of the environment from the very beginning.

Two of the seven zones are temperature-controlled: one for vintage Champagnes, set at a ready-toserve temperature, and another solely dedicated to

Domaine Romanée-Conti, held at cellar temperature for long-term preservation. The remaining zones are ambient but optimised for accessibility and display, supporting service flow without compromising the guest experience.

Interior Collaborations Alongside Inhouse Design & Manufacturing

Sorrells worked closely with Rosendale Design and Smallbone to ensure the wine storage harmonised with the broader interior concept. This collaborative process allowed for seamless integration of materials, finishes, and architectural detailing, resulting in a unified aesthetic throughout the restaurant. As Executive Chef Spencer Metzger notes, “Sorrells’ expertise and craftsmanship were evident at every stage of the project. Their attention to detail and understanding of the space resulted in one of the finest wine cellars I’ve seen.”

All joinery and metalwork were produced in-house by Sorrells’ team, using materials chosen to complement the interior palette, oak, mahogany, steel, and brass accents throughout. The clean design reflects both function and elegance, fitting naturally into the wider space designed by Rosendale.

The Domaine Romanée-Conti cabinet is one of the most distinctive features: each bottle is supported by sculptural hands, cast in silver and modelled on Jason Atherton’s own. Developed through Sorrells’ R&D, the detail is both personal and practical, designed to cradle high-value bottles with complete security. Elsewhere, angled and scallop racking allow labels to remain visible, even in tighter areas, ensuring that practicality and presentation go hand in hand.

Spencer Metzger’s approach to the menu, rooted in the best British ingredients, is mirrored by the commitment to skilled local makers like Sorrells, ensuring the restaurant’s environment is as refined as its cuisine.

The Restaurant Today Today, Row on 5 operates as a 28-cover fine dining restaurant where the wine experience is fully integrated into the guest journey. From the moment guests step through the door, wine becomes part of the theatre: visible, accessible, and seamlessly incorporated into service.

“What I loved about this project was how considered every detail was. Working with Sorrells, the wine cellar at Row on 5 wasn’t just an afterthought, it marked the beginning of the whole experience. It’s become a true centrepiece, and a big reason why we’re now being recognised for the best wine list around the UK this year.”- Jason Atherton

The result is a restaurant where craftsmanship, both culinary and architectural, works in unison. The transformation from tailor’s shell to Michelin-starred dining room is complete and Sorrells’ contribution ensures that the wine collection is not only preserved and served but celebrated.

Cook, the Gourmet Institution of the 17th Arrondissement, is getting a fresh new look with the Mersi agency
- MERSI -

Leading the transformation of a legendary Parisian location, Meryl Motyka and Simon Mimoun — the creative duo behind Mersi — have signed off on a complete renovation, blending respect for the soul of the place with a bold contemporary vision. In just six months of work, Cook has been has found a strong, coherent, and inviting visual identity.

The project went far beyond architecture: Mersi also developed an entirely new brand identity, designed following the interior atmosphere. The client, who placed full trust in the agency, had a clear goal — to retain the loyal lunchtime clientele, attract a new evening crowd, and elevate Cook to the level of its reputation.

A Mediterranean restaurant known for its hearty cuisine, Cook needed to reflect that warmth in its atmosphere. With their crreativity and signature, Mersi managed to add this sense of conviviality into every detail. «We wanted a style that was simple and

distinctive,» explains Meryl. «We played with shapes, materials, and warm tones. The lighting, carefully designed, brings different moods throughout the day. The bar, inspired by traditional Parisian bistros, interacts with a jute canvas wall mural and mirrored accents that expand the space.»

The agency succeeded in reinventing the space without betraying its original spirit, especially through a thoughtful redesign of circulation within the restaurant. The layout was redesigned to be more fluid, more intuitive, and, above all, more functional for the staff. « Above all, we listen to the client. The human aspect is essential for us » Simon adds « Understanding the client’s needs and the realities on the ground is key. Only after that immersion do the layout and decorative details begin to make sense. »

True to its architectural approach, Mersi designed a series of custom elements that establish the re’taurant unique identity: the bar’s countertop, a suspended bottle display, stunning banquettes upholstered with fabrics from Elitis and JAB, mirror frames matched to Aromas del Campo wall sconces, custom cutlery trolleys, and tabletop designs. The panoramic wall covering from Elitis, in warm, slightly retro tones, adds a touch of elegance and creates a welcoming atmosphere. And finally, an unexpected twist: the restrooms, deliberately playful, offer a fun interlude with their bold and vibrant colors.

With this project, Mersi once again reflects their unique expertise behind its unified approach, combining architecture, art direction, branding, and construction management. A fully realized transformation, carefully executed from start to finish, that marks the rebirth of an iconic parisian spot — and which perfectly embodies the MERSI signature: elegant, empathetic, and meticulously crafted.

founder of MERSI) explains: «For each of our projects we combine the disicipline of architecture with the creativity of design. We offer a sublimated transformation of the space, often involving destrution in order to rebuild better.».

Inspired by great architects such as Tadao Ando, Oscar Niemeyer, Frank Lloyd Wright, and John Pawson, and interior designers like Christophe Delcourt, Liaigre, and the Yodezeen duo, Meryl and Simon aim for a perfect control of their projects, which they always want to be unique, and especially thought through withevery detail especially defined. Meryl, (co-founder) adds: «Our projects are elegant and sophisticated thanks to refined finishes and rarely seen assemblies. The complexity of our proposals isn’t immediately obvious, but linked together, they create a refined and timeless atmosphere. We work with a palette of natural materials and colors which we enhance with a bold touch that runs as a consistent thread throughout the entire project.”

Luxury Lake District hotel and spa selects contemporary DRU gas fire for bar and restaurant

- DRU FIRES -

DRU, established in the Netherlands in 1754, is one of Europe’s largest fireplace manufacturers, with a huge portfolio of gas, electric, wood burning and bioethanol fires and stoves.

Specialist fireplace dealers Firehouse of Kendal installed a DRU Metro 130XT contemporary balanced flue gas fire in the bar and restaurant of the Lodore Falls hotel and spa near Keswick in Cumbria, UK. It is one of six luxury hotels in the Lake District Hotels group, located close to Derwentwater and overlooking Lodore Falls, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Cumbria.

From lazy lakeside strolls to adventurous excursions and romantic weekends away, you can experience it all during your stay at the Lodore Falls. Dine on delicious menus, enjoy blissfully comfy bedrooms and experience the invigorating range of spa treatments.

Firehouse director Donovan du Plessis takes up the story:

“During a major renovation, the hotel’s main contractor was let down by another supplier. Firehouse was tasked with collaborating, designing, and installing a gas fire and feature fireplace in the bar and restaurant within very tight time scales.

“The team at DRU produced the fire and delivered it on a very short timeline. The combined skill sets of Firehouse and Bluestone allowed us to achieve a high-quality finish and deliver the project on time.

“The 1.3-metre-wide fire was installed into a specially designed hearth, using a combination of stone and timber to match the interior design of the restaurant.

“Mains gas was not available at this location, but DRU is one of the few manufacturers to produce many of its gas fires in LPG/Propane versions, delivering the same impressive flame picture in an energy efficient way.”

Niall Deiraniya, general manager of DRU Fires UK added:

“The DRU Metro 130XT is an ideal solution for hotels, restaurants, wellness centres and other hospitality settings.

“The balanced flue system enables the fire to be installed with or without a standard chimney. The air for combustion is extracted from outside the building, with waste gases expelled outside through the concentric flue. This results in high, realistic flames with high efficiency and low emissions.

“The fire is controlled either by a convenient remote control or by using the DRU app for smartphones and tablets. This enables the hotel staff to regulate the heat output and flame picture for the comfort of the guests. In addition, the Ceraglass interior creates a 3D effect that further enhances the impressive flame picture.”

The Lodore Falls Hotel project is one of several installations carried out by DRU and Firehouse on behalf of Lake District Hotels.

After an invigorating day out in the sea air, your guests can retire to their comfortable hotel room, with its lovely sea view, and bask in the glowing inspiration of a contemporary electric fire.

The DRU Virtuo Evolve looks and sounds just like a real log fire, but has no chimney, flue or harmful emissions. There is a selection of sizes and it is easy to install, only needing a standard domestic electricity supply.

WeWantMore Redesigns Public Spaces for DoubleTree

- DOUBLETREE HILTON -

DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Central Station has unveiled a full redesign of its ground floor—ushering in a bold, locally inspired interior concept by design studio WeWantMore, in collaboration with Hilton. From lobby to bar to a new restaurant concept, the refreshed design offers a vibrant and layered guest experience, rooted in the visual language of Amsterdam.

From Transit Space to Cultural Statement

Originally opened in 2011, the hotel sits just steps from Amsterdam Centraal Station. With foot traffic from global travelers and locals alike, the public spaces needed to be functional, expressive, and unmistakably connected to Amsterdam. Hilton’s brief was clear: create interiors that reflect the city’s personality while offering flexibility and flow throughout the day. WeWantMore responded with a materials-driven concept rich in tactility, colour, and cultural cues.

The Shift: From Generic to Grounded

The new design story begins in the lobby, where a 3D-printed ceiling feature references Amsterdam’s well-known triple-X symbol. This sets the stage for the visual theme carried throughout the space. A warm mix of terracotta, forest green, and soft wood tones defines the material palette, balanced by rich textures like red travertine, sheer fabrics, and plush upholstery to create a calm and welcoming atmosphere.

The bar follows the same design language but with a more intimate feel. Built for smooth transitions from day to night, it features layered lighting, varied seating, and small design touches that echo the triple-X.

Introducing: We Are EDN

A highlight of the renovation is the launch of We Are EDN, a new restaurant concept developed by Hilton’s internal agency StiR Creative Collective. It’s the first of its kind in the EMEAA region, built around seasonal ingredients and a low-waste approach.

The interior reflects this philosophy with natural materials, green accents, and a brighter, more energetic colour palette. Floral patterns, woven panels, neon details, and plants bring a sense of playfulness while still fitting into the broader hotel design.

Art as a Connector

Curated with Veitenheimer Art Consultancy, the art collection adds another layer of narrative. Works by Jordy van den Nieuwendijk, Simone Poste, Evan Powell, Simon Moore, and Raquel Rodrigo are integrated throughout the hotel, chosen to reflect Amsterdam’s creative energy and to visually thread the spaces together.

A Coastal Revival: Transit Studio Transforms Le Méridien Ra with New Signature Cocktail Bar and Restaurant

- TRANSIT STUDIO -

Transit Studio, the London-based design practice known for its sensitive and context-rich approach, has completed two transformative new hospitality projects at Le Méridien Ra Beach Hotel & Spa, set along the Catalan coast south of Barcelona.

Bar Tempus - From the earth to the sea

Transit Studio were invited by the hotel initially to work with them to create a destination cocktail bar within the hotel. The hotel is situated in a former Sanatorium that was used to help recovering TB patients from Barcelona, and was converted and opened as a hotel in 2003. They worked through a variety of options to bring a new experience internally as a way of helping to extend their opening season and the potential of the site. The initial arrival at the hotel is based on a strong linear axis from the earth and gardens, through the former chapel (where the new bar is located) out to the sea. They wanted their design to embody this journey.

Taking cues from experiences of the local area and geology, they have rooted the design for the bar and lounge in the local landscape, bringing a warm and palette of earth tones to the design – using rich marble and custom, locally-sourced terrazzo colours to create a new feature cocktail bar, along with pigmented natural plaster. The fabrics are textured and tactile, with two of the patterns chosen as a subtle nod to the local vineyards seen from the air.

The new bar offers a sense of elevated luxury, building on the hotel’s expertise in creating an environment of relaxation, renewal, and revival. These new spaces are perfect for relaxing in front of the fire in the middle of winter, as well as a cool respite from the sun in the middle of summer. They help the transition from day to night within the hotel, and provide a focal and natural meeting point for guests.

La Terrassa del Mar - All Day Restaurant, Wine Room & Buffet: From the land to the sea

After completing the design work for the bar, Transit Studio was asked to look at creating an internal version of the hotel’s all-day restaurant, La Terrassa del Mar. Again, this would help extend the hotel season and provide internal areas for dining outside of the heat in the summer season. They looked at repurposing a long, linear, flexible events space that is perpendicular to the entrance axis to the hotel, sitting between the courtyard garden and the seaside terrace.

Inspired by the local landscape and the beauty of the sea in front of the restaurant, they wanted to bring the colours of the sea and the lush greens of the hotel gardens deep into the heart of the restaurant. They have used a palette from the land to sea with deep blues and greens of the garden, blending into the aquamarine tones of the sea.

Transit Studio opened up the visibility of the space with new arches in the wall, and a fluid and plantfilled space for the feature wine room experience to draw guests into the restaurant. They have broken down the long linear space with a series of terracotta arches, and used a dramatic azure tiled ceiling to bring in the sense of dappled reflections from the sea

across the dining room. Sea green tables in custom terrazzo and internal planting complete the journey between sea and landscape.

The all-day restaurant and buffet offer the very best from the local sourced produce and provenance, complementing the space with an exceptional culinary journey, and the new wine room experience will be perfect to get to know a range of regional Spanish wines highlighting the local terroirs.

Both projects draw on the existing architecture of the hotel, adding a new layer to the rich history in a unique site specific response to the design briefs.

“We have been really excited to work on two complementary projects for Le Méridien Ra, already a stunning property, with a fascinating history,” states Zoe Masterton-Smith, Founder, Transit Studio. “We loved weaving in our experience of the local area into both design approaches that will add further to the unique guest journey at the property.”

“This project is about more than just design — it’s about transforming how our guests feel within these walls,” adds Conor Cushnahan, General Manager of Le Méridien Ra. “Transit Studio has brought an extraordinary level of thought and creativity, helping us craft a new experience that is relaxed yet refined, and entirely of this place.”

Transit Studio worked with Ed Francis Consulting and Dapple Studio on the brand and service elements. The Spa experience has been completely redesigned and refurbished by Core Essence. All projects have been made possible working with the fantastic on-site team and the Marriott Global team. These projects were led Orka Investments and managed by Okami Hospitality Group. Growland Arquitectura acted as project manager, and Bosch Pascual were the appointed contractors.

This project marks another sophisticated chapter in Transit Studio’s portfolio, which spans hospitality, cultural, and residential projects — all united by a considered, narrative-led approach that balances material richness with spatial restraint.

Where Japan Meets Sweden in Red

A Spatial Encounter Between Japan and Sweden, Maja Bernvill Designs the New Misshumasshu Restaurant in Stockholm. The transformation of the historic Birger Jarl Passage brings it into a new era. As Misshumasshu reopens in its new, large-scale incarnation, it does so in a setting where architecture and gastronomy engage with the weight of the site’s history. Architect Maja Bernvill is behind the new design of the restaurant.

Spanning 800 square meters with six-meter-high ceilings and a daylight roof as a central feature, Misshumasshu is now famed in red. Through this powerful color and sculptural gestures, the restaurant is anchored in the historic arcade, while Bernvill infuses it with a contemporary sensibility. “It’s a generous setting, one that welcomes return visits, in any season, at any hour. We embrace deep red tones as a unifying link between Japanese and Swedish culture. I think of Japanese lacquerware and Dala horses, Falu red and Japanese temples,” says Maja Bernvill.

At the heart of the project are the custom-designed dining tables. Bernvill’s design is inspired by the soft drape of a tablecloth, while also referencing both the grand scale of the space and the Japanese tradition of treating wood by charring its surface with fire. The chosen material, heat-treated solid ash, reflects the atmosphere of the room: authentic and monumental.

The newly opened restaurant seats around 150 guests, with a centrally placed bar acting as the focal point of the passage. A series of intimate rooms has been interwoven around the arcade, creating a continuous flow, as much a restaurant as a social meeting place.

Misshumasshu is the latest in a long line of collaborations with chef duo Adam & Albin, continuing the close exchange between architectural and culinary creativity. It follows Solen, the catalyst for establishing the Stockholm meatpacking district as a gastronomic destination. Solen was awarded, among others, Residence magazine’s Grand Design Prize, the international iF Design Awards, and was one of four nominated projects for Guldstolen, The Golden Chair Award, presented by the Swedish Association of Architects.

Cissy — a muse of modern comfort

There are armchairs you sit in — and then there’s Cissy, Ton’s new sculptural lounge piece, designed by French master Patrick Norguet. The design itself is inspired by the brand’s rich history of bentwood craftsmanship — its curves, proportions and honest materials echo more than 160 years of tradition. The name, however, comes from something more poetic: a delicate sketch of the actress Cissy Loftus by Toulouse-Lautrec. From this quiet portrait came a muse — graceful, composed and timeless.

With its fluid silhouette, generous upholstery and soft bentwood frame, Cissy balances heritage and innovation. Available in both high and low backs, it offers two expressions of comfort — one more enveloping, the other effortlessly open. A distinctive feature is the elegantly curved armrest, steam-bent from a single piece of solid wood. This uninterrupted line not only defines the chair’s sculptural character, but also speaks to the precision and depth of Ton’s craftsmanship. It’s the kind of detail you feel as much as you see. Paired with a matching footstool, the experience deepens: legs up, tension down,

and the space around you shifts into stillness. In any configuration, Cissy becomes the soul of the room — quietly commanding attention without ever raising its voice.

Each Cissy is handmade in the historic factory in Bystřice pod Hostýnem — a place where steam and wood have worked in harmony since 1861. Nestled in the Czech countryside, this is the oldest workshop of its kind in the world, where generations of craftsmen have perfected the delicate balance between technique and intuition. Every sweeping line, every seamless joint is a tribute to this legacy — not just of craftsmanship, but of confidence. Because when something is made in a place that has been making furniture for over 160 years, you don’t just see the quality. You feel it.

“First you see the comfort. Then you feel it,” says Norguet. And indeed, Cissy’s embrace is immediate. The armchair’s generous proportions, finely tuned angles and cloud-like softness wrap the body in a cocoon of calm — inviting you not just to sit, but to melt in. Whether in a hotel

lounge, an elegant suite or a private reading corner, Cissy transforms the space into a sanctuary.

The story is completed by the exclusive seasonal mix: three Cleo fabrics — Peach, Water and Gold — curated by Norguet, together with soft Elmosoft leather in Green. These are some of the finest materials available, chosen not only for their aesthetic richness but also for their exceptional durability, comfort and feel. Each fabric has been hand-selected to enhance the sculptural form of the design and reflect Norguet’s refined sensitivity to colour, texture and materiality. The result is a harmonious blend of sensuality and elegance — luxurious to the eye, irresistible to the touch.

Just be a-muse-d by Cissy. A confident muse that combines craftsmanship and character, ready to become an icon in interiors that value presence over pretence.

Lounge Outdoor Space and Bar with Mid-Century Design

- MEZZO COLLECTION -

Mezzo Collection has a new project for you. A Lounge Space in the outdoors with a mid-century modern design. An amazing space with a beautiful combination of furniture and design, turning this ambiance into the favorite space to relax and enjoy a drink.

Beginning with the lounge space, we offer two distinct armchair designs. The first is the Handy Armchair, featuring a white and blue fabric with polished brass accents. Thought to be the ideal complement to any mid-century ambiance, the brass details give this armchair a stylish and luxurious look.

The second option is the Eileen Armchair, a 2025 novelty, in beige fabric and polished brass. Its curved silhouette and plush upholstery create an inviting embrace, while the channel-tufted detailing adorned with metallic accents enhances its refined character.

This piece seamlessly merges vintage charm with contemporary sophistication while resting on a sleek, rotating brass base. Designed to be both a statement and a sanctuary, this armchair is perfect for those who appreciate timeless design and unparalleled comfort.

To complement the space and serve as a support table, we also have in this project two different designs of coffee tables. The first, close to the Handy Armchair, is the Foster Coffee Table, stunningly produced in solid walnut wood and lacquered wood. The strong contrast in the leg between these two materials makes this coffee table the perfect choice for your mid-century design project.

Next, the table supporting the Eileen Armchair is the Craig Coffee Table. It is a seductive piece that brings all the charm of a vintage era where cocktails and parties were timeless. The solid walnut and lacquered wood foot gently merge with brass details that make this table overflow with elegance in any ambiance, being the perfect choice for any mid-century project.

Moving now to the bar area, we have the two versions of the Otis model, the Otis I Bar Chair and the Otis II Bar Chair. This bar chair insinuates the Hollywood glamour of the golden years. The elegant and distinctive shape will steal the attention in the room and, at the same time, let you comfortably enjoy the drink and a good conversation.

Finally, to give the space a low light and create an ambiance, the Stella Table Lamp was chosen. Its unusual shape promises to be the center of attention on any side table. Combining the use of the best materials with creative design, this table lamp guarantees to take anyone back to the 50s with this one-of-a-kind piece.

Tom Browns Restaurant, Nottinghamshire – A Luxury Redesign

- CONTRACT FURNITURE -

Contract Furniture Group was proud to play a key role in the dramatic transformation of Tom Browns, a long-established riverside restaurant in Gunthorpe, Nottinghamshire. Since opening in 1986, it has been a fixture of the local dining scene. In 2022, the venue was acquired by the Reddington Pub Company, known for its strong portfolio of hospitality venues, including the neighbouring Anchor pub. Unlike the family-friendly Anchor, the vision for Tom Browns was to create an adult-only, high-end restaurant serving premium seafood and steak alongside live music.

Following a £1 million investment, we were invited back, having worked with Reddington before, to help realise its luxury concept. Our task was to design, manufacture, and install bespoke fixed seating that would define the space. With a central live music stage, the booth layout was carefully planned to give every guest a clear view while maintaining an intimate, lounge-like feel.

We began with precise site measurements and produced 2D and 3D renderings to visualise the banquette seating. The design embraced a moody, luxe 1970s style, with booths upholstered in rich chocolate brown velvet, framed by baroque oak panelling and finished with a gold kickboard for a touch of glamour. Integrated back-panel lighting enhanced the atmosphere in the low-lit space, perfect for evening dining and entertainment.

The fixed seating, in a mix of corner booths, curved runs, and straight styles, dominated the layout, optimising space and creating defined zones. Only a few standalone tables and chairs were added for flexibility.

To complete the look, we supplied black quartz tabletops paired with table bases from our Titan, Atlas, and Zeus collections, all featuring interchangeable sleeves for customised detailing. Custom glass mirrors behind two elevated curved booths added depth and echoed the retro-glam aesthetic.

The result is a complete reinvention of the former pub into a sophisticated, child-free restaurant that feels both luxurious and welcoming. The combination of bespoke seating, premium finishes, and clever spatial planning has boosted both style and functionality.

Now reopened, Tom Browns has quickly reclaimed its place as a local favourite, proof of how tailored furniture solutions can redefine a venue and elevate the guest experience.

Contract Furniture Group manufacture, supply and install stock and bespoke furniture, fixtures & fittings, specifically designed for the hospitality, leisure, retail & student accomodation sectors.

Crafted for comfort and character: VIYAR FURNITURE projects in Amsterdam and Kraków

When it comes to hospitality, comfort is key, but the space’s character is what leaves a lasting impression. At VIYAR FURNITURE, we believe in merging thoughtful design with technical precision to create interiors that speak to both style and function.

Two of our recent projects – a luxury apartment in Amsterdam and the historic Hotel Monika in Kraków – perfectly illustrate our commitment to excellence in hospitality furnishing.

Amsterdam apartment: refined living for urban buyers

Located in one of Europe’s most vibrant cities, this project involved furnishing a single high-end apartment in Amsterdam designed for sale. The creative vision was developed by renowned designer Evi Om, who sought a seamless blend of modern aesthetics and timeless quality. The space was

thoughtfully outfitted to balance elegant design with practical materials, enhancing its market appeal and long-term livability.

To achieve this, we assembled a carefully considered palette of materials that marry visual sophistication with exceptional durability – a priority for future homeowners. FENIX MDF delivers a sleek, ultra-matte finish that resists fingerprints, ensuring a consistently pristine look. Inalco MDi countertops and wall panels bring exceptional strength and refined textures, while the NEOLITH sintered stone countertop offers unmatched resistance to scratches and temperature changes. To add warmth and a natural feel, we incorporated Wood Contour veneered combined fronts, and complemented them with Glass fronts by ViyarFronts, introducing elegance, depth, and a subtle play of reflections.

This project exemplified how intelligent material selection and thoughtful layout planning can elevate a standard apartment into a truly desirable living space. Every detail was installed with precision, ensuring the apartment was not only beautiful but move-in ready.

Hotel Monika: breathing new life into a Kraków landmark

In the heart of Kraków, Poland, the legendary Hotel Monika has long held a place in the city’s cultural memory. This project, realized for INTEX GROUP SPZ OO, involved restoring and furnishing five floors of the hotel with 30 fully equipped apartments, transforming it into a modern hospitality haven while respecting its legacy.

Each apartment features a kitchen, bedroom, and dedicated storage areas. The overarching goal was to offer guests a sense of home-away-from-home comfort, infused with Polish design sensibility and modern functionality.

Natural color palettes, ergonomic layouts, and warm lighting create a calm, welcoming atmosphere, while every material was chosen for its ability to withstand the demands of high-traffic hospitality environments – ensuring both beauty and resilience.

At the heart of each kitchen, the RICCI FB45 Italian Stone countertop commands attention with its refined texture and enduring durability. Ferro Fiori GOLA vertical and horizontal profiles with integrated LED grooves introduce a sleek, modern edge, providing both visual interest and soft, ambient lighting. For core surfaces, the Kronospan K096 SU Clay Gray chipboard delivers a smooth matte base, complemented by Egger U727 ST9 Gray Stone chipboard fronts, whose subtle stone texture harmonizes effortlessly with the overall scheme.

Client: Evi Om

Location: Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Designer: Evi Om

Client: INTEX GROUP SPZ OO

Location: Hotel Monika, Kraków, Poland

This renovation was more than just a refurbishment; it was a reimagining. Today, Hotel Monika offers a fresh take on Kraków’s hospitality, blending the building’s historic charm with contemporary conveniences.

Setting the Scene: Christmas Styling Trends for Hospitality in 2025

- ALLIANCE ONLINE -

As the festive season draws near, the hospitality industry is already planning for one of its busiest and most atmospheric times of the year. In 2025, Christmas styling is all about blending tradition with fresh, modern elements that surprise and delight guests while creating warm, memorable spaces. From bold colour themes to refined, understated elegance, Alliance Online name the top trends to watch out for this year.

1. Navy Noel – A Deep Dive into Dark Blue Hues

This year, navy is stealing the spotlight as a sophisticated alternative to classic Christmas reds and greens. Whether used in crackers, napkins, or bauble sets, this deep, rich tone instantly adds depth and elegance to a festive setting. Navy pairs beautifully with metallic accents like gold and silver, making it versatile for both contemporary and traditional interiors. For hospitality venues, this palette is perfect for creating a dramatic statement without overpowering the overall décor. Think navy napkins with gold flatware, or navy crackers offset by crisp white linens for a high impact yet timeless look.

2. Soft Elegance – The Subtle Side of Christmas

For venues seeking a more muted, refined atmosphere, the Soft Elegance trend is the perfect choice. This palette leans into soft pinks, gentle greens, and pastel accents, designed to complement rather than compete with existing crockery and tablescapes. By choosing décor that harmonises with your tableware, you can create a sense of calm sophistication while still embracing the festive spirit. Delicate wooden ornaments, muted garlands, and understated centrepieces work beautifully for intimate dining settings or afternoon teas. Soft Elegance is proof that festive styling doesn’t have to be loud to be memorable: sometimes, less is most definitely more.

3. The Art of Tablescaping – Festive Centrepieces Done Right

In 2025, tablescaping has evolved from a design extra to an essential element of the hospitality experience. Guests notice the finer details, and nothing makes a bigger impression than a thoughtfully styled table. This year’s must-haves include decorative wooden baubles arranged either as standalone features or incorporated into larger festive displays with mini trees and garlands. Nutcrackers, another timeless

favourite, are making a strong return, lending a whimsical, nostalgic touch to dining spaces. Miniature Christmas trees are especially versatile, working equally well in formal dining rooms, relaxed lounges, or bar areas.

4. Tree Decorations for Every Space

In 2025, Christmas tree decorations are doing more than just filling branches, they’re telling the story of your venue’s festive identity. From classic coloured baubles to beautifully arranged flower decoration and miniature statement pieces such as bows, the right mix can elevate your tree from background décor to a memorable talking point. For those embracing Navy Noel, navy baubles and ribbons paired with metallic accents create an elegant, dramatic effect. The Soft Elegance look shines through with delicate pastel baubles, twinkling lights, and delicate flower pieces that tie in beautifully with refined tablescapes. If you’re going bold with tablescaping, coordinate your tree with matching decorative elements. With our wide variety of tree decorations in every colour palette and style, it’s easy to create a cohesive festive theme that flows from table to tree.

Final Thoughts

Hospitality is about more than just great food and drink; it’s about creating an atmosphere guests will remember long after their visit. This Christmas, whether you embrace the bold sophistication of a Navy Noel, the quiet charm of Soft Elegance, or the creativity of feature tablescaping, Alliance Online’s Christmas collection has all the right decorations you need to transform your venue into a festive destination in its own right.

- AD ANDE -

Great equipment proves itself in every environment. Adande refrigerated drawers have proven themselves across every corner of the hospitality world, from twoMichelin-starred establishments to bustling chains, demonstrating that quality equipment delivers the real value.

At Ynyshir Restaurant & Rooms, Gareth Ward’s twoMichelin-starred kitchen relies on the hold-the-cold technology in his Adande drawers to maintain the precision required for his extraordinary culinary artistry. Meanwhile, Whitbread chose Adande undercounter drawers to create a speedier team workflow, all while reducing energy costs. The variety of benefits truly cater to all.

That’s up to vol 86L: 4 x GN (1/1) 100 mm depth per drawer! Whether it’s an intimate open kitchen or a large expansive facility, space efficiency remains paramount.

The space saving benefits perfectly compliment the drawers’ flexibility. Say goodbye to needing several

Husky Intelligent Fridges: Redefining Unmanned Retail

- HUSKY -

The hospitality and retail industries are evolving at pace, driven by a need for efficiency, customer convenience, and smarter operations. Husky Intelligent Fridges are at the forefront of this change, offering a genuinely innovative approach to unmanned retail that blends technology, sustainability, and practicality.

Unlike traditional vending machines, Husky Intelligent Fridges deliver a seamless customer experience. Guests or consumers can unlock the fridge using a payment card, mobile wallet, or even a hotel room key card. Once the door is opened, RFID sensors automatically register which items are taken and process payment instantly. The result is frictionless, staff-free sales available twenty-four hours a day.

For hotels, the integration possibilities are particularly powerful. By linking with property management systems, items taken from the fridge can be automatically charged to the guest’s room, reducing administration and enhancing the overall experience. For cafés, gyms, co-working spaces, universities, and transport hubs, the fridges provide new opportunities for offering fresh, healthy food and drinks without the costs and complexities of additional staff. They are equally effective in corporate environments, supporting employee wellbeing by making nutritious snacks and drinks accessible around the clock.

Behind the scenes, Husky Intelligent Fridges provide operators with a robust management platform. Realtime dashboards track sales, stock levels, and expiry dates across multiple locations, while low-stock alerts help to optimise restocking schedules. This intelligence not only saves time but also reduces waste and improves profitability. For multi-site operators, centralised control allows them to view and manage an entire fleet of fridges from one system, ensuring consistency and efficiency at scale.

Sustainability is also at the core of Husky’s design. Precision-engineered refrigeration technology ensures reduced energy consumption while maximising product visibility. Combined with the unmanned retail model, operators can lower both costs and carbon footprint while still delivering highquality customer service.

Whether for hotels seeking to modernise minibar services, cafés aiming to grow round-the-clock sales, or retailers expanding into unmanned formats, Husky Intelligent Fridges provide a flexible, future-ready solution.

Patent Approved for Karta’s HyperRealistic Flooring Technology

- KARTA -

Karta Floors, a pioneer in innovative flooring solutions, is thrilled to announce the official approval of its patent for a revolutionary ‘method of creating virtual texture’ by the Intellectual Property Office, a landmark achievement unveiled at this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week. This significant milestone underscores Karta’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and material possibilities.

The announcement coincided with Karta’s highly successful display of its Recycled Leather Series at Clerkenwell Green. The collection garnered widespread acclaim, with visitors commending Karta’s exceptional sustainability credentials, remarkable durability, and effortless installation. Overwhelmingly, designers and architects highlighted how authentically the floors “look like real wood” – a naturalistic quality that is a direct result of Karta’s newly patented process.

This proprietary method allows Karta to create an unparalleled illusion of depth and realism on two-dimensional substrates. By meticulously manipulating light and shadow captured from precisely crafted master surfaces, where natural timber characteristics are carefully augmented to enhance their visual impact, Karta replicates the nuanced characteristics of natural timber, including subtle grain variations and ‘perfect imperfections’, ensuring a level of authenticity

previously unattainable in engineered surfaces. Unlike conventional LVT products often marred by discernible repeating patterns and textures – a common giveaway – Karta’s method delivers an unparalleled naturalistic variation.

Water-resistant, easy to clean and maintain, and highly effective against scratches, scuffs, dents, and general wear and tear, Karta is ideal for the daily demands of the hospitality sector. Its water-resistant, non-porous top layer in particular is a significant boon in areas prone to spillages. Easy clean-up dramatically minimises the risk of warping, swelling, and mold and bacterial growth.

Robert Walsh, Founder of Karta, commented, “The new patent is a shining example of our commitment to Research and Development, and to generating a creative space where technological innovation, a deep understanding of woodworking traditions and a profound appreciation of nature can combine.”

Karta Floors continues to redefine the possibilities for sustainable, high-performance flooring that meets the aesthetic demands of contemporary interior design and architecture.

Instant pattern, effortless impact New Designers’ Choice floors from Amtico

- AMTIC O -

British luxury vinyl tile flooring manufacturer Amtico has added nine new floor designs to Designers’ Choice, its ready-to-specify LVT collection specially created by its in-house design team. The new combinations of precision-cut laying patterns and LVT products translate three macro trends – Restorative Spaces, Soft Utilitarian and Nostalgic Reset – into design-led, high-performance floors for commercial projects including hotels, bars and restaurants.

Designers’ Choice is curated by Amtico’s designers, they have combined precision-cut laying patterns with Woods, Stones, Colours and Abstracts from the Signature collection, carefully chosen and influenced by the team’s research into colour, material mix and spatial trends. As Design Manager Sarah Escott

explains, the collection “distils months of research into palettes and combinations that are balanced, beautiful and instantly usable,” with this year’s additions also blending Woods, Stones and Burnished Metals for impactful floors in an easy, off-the-rack solution.

Trends translated for hospitality

Nostalgic Reset channels retro styling with confident geometry and classic material cues, from sculptural semi-circles and oversized checks to black-and-white marble. Restorative Spaces delivers a pared-back calm through quiet stone and oak combinations that support guest wellbeing. Soft Utilitarian introduces tougher, mixed-material statements – including Burnished Metal – that are ideal for zoning social spaces and multifunctional hospitality areas.

Meet the new designs

Nostalgic Reset

• DC633 Lune Small – Packwood Stone with red wine-hued Stucco Roselle; a sculptural semicircle design that is playful yet sophisticated.

• DC630 Check – oversized Tay Oak squares; pair with a gold stripping border for added elegance.

• DC629 Chantilly Weave – bold two-tone Bordeaux Oak and Buxton Oak re-energises a heritage weave, perfect for boutique lounges and bars.

• DC631 Check – classic black and white in statement Bianca Classic Marble and Nero Classic Marble.

• DC635 Small Parquet – a throwback to mixed wood-grain floors across five tones, from cool scandi-inspired Wharncliffe Oak to warm, golden Rotterdam Oak.

Simple to specify – with room to customise

Specifying Designers’ Choice is straightforward: choose the ‘DC’ code and the laying pattern is precision cut in Amtico’s Coventry factory using premium Signature LVT planks and tiles. For projects that need a unique twist, step up to Endless Possibilities – ‘EP’ codes – and keep any DC laying pattern while swapping in products of your choice from Signature. Designs can be previewed instantly using Amtico’s online Room Visualiser, starting with the product or the pattern, with the option to upload a photo or sketch to see the scheme in context.

Built for commercial performance

Amtico Signature LVT features a durable 1mm wear layer, a 20-year commercial warranty and antimicrobial protection against bacteria and viruses. Made-to-order in Coventry, Signature can also be specified as Amtico Safety flooring, which meets the verified EN13845 enhanced slip resistance standard, and it is available with Amtico’s bio-attributed PVC for a lower-carbon option.

Restorative Spaces

• DC637 Large Parquet – five Stones: Waterloo Concrete, Wilmcote Limestone, Ratley Stone, Ilmington Stone and Coombe Stone, for a pared-back, utilitarian feel.

• DC634 Small Parquet – three-Wood blend of Clowes Oak, Buckingham Oak and Wharncliffe Oak to bring biophilic comfort to workplaces and hospitality.

Soft Utilitarian

DC632 Gatsby Square Large – Russet Burnished Metal meets Darley Oak for dramatic contrast; works beautifully as a rug feature or for zoning, with hyper-realistic pearl pigments that create the illusion of weathered metal.

• DC636 Large Parquet – a five-Wood design layering rustic oaks for social, multi-functional spaces such as hospitality and build-to-rent.

From lobby to lounge, all-day dining to boutique bar, Designers’ Choice provides ready-made foundations for impactful hospitality interiors – with the flexibility to tailor when a brand concept demands it. Explore the full collection and the nine new designs at amtico.com/commercial.

Low-maintenance planting ideas to green up your hospitality venue

- AMBER OL -

When it comes to hospitality, a venue’s atmosphere is often the detail that leaves a lasting impression. The look and feel of a hotel can be just as important as other factors a customer considers such as price, location, availability and accessibility when booking or recommending to a friend – so it’s important to make it a priority rather than a background detail.

Let’s focus on the benefits of indoor and outdoor flowers and foliage. Without them, a venue might seem bare or austere. Thoughtfully integrated, and a space can really come to life.

For venues with limited green space, there are still plenty of ways to build a vibrant oasis in a courtyard or hotel lobby. Simple details such as installing a green ‘living’ wall as a café backdrop, or large planters with fresh foliage either side of an entrance can enhance the appearance of a venue whilst also improving air quality.

One of the issues with introducing plants can be the cost of ongoing maintenance. That’s where Amberol’s self-watering planters make a difference. Proud originators of the Aquafeed™ self-watering system, our low-maintenance planter range features capillary matting that frees up users to water plants only once or twice a week – saving time, water, and money.

Brakes Launches ‘Get Set Supply!’ to Support Smaller Suppliers

- BRAKES -

Brakes, the UK’s leading foodservice supplier, has launched a major new initiative to support small businesses that want to start supplying wholesale.

‘Get Set Supply!’ is set to be the most comprehensive support programme for smaller suppliers entering the wholesale market. Each selected supplier will be mentored by experienced Brakes’ colleagues or other established suppliers and offered a programme to drive sales through the UK’s largest foodservice wholesaler.

Following an online application process, around 12 shortlisted companies will be invited to a quarterly innovation session attended by customers and key procurement contacts. After the innovation session, successful suppliers will be selected to have their products listed.

Once selected, the new supplier will be given a programme of support to help them grow within Brakes, including sales presentations, sampling and promotion.

Brakes has also committed to training its merchandising team to provide specific support to food producers joining the programme.

Paul Nieduszynski, CEO of Sysco GB, said: “It can sometimes be daunting for small suppliers to try to get into large businesses and, once there, to be successful.

“We want to demystify the process and provide support for around 25 new suppliers every year, giving them the opportunity to start supplying Britain’s foodservice market in a sustainable way that can grow with their business. We know that there are some great products out there and we want to help those companies tell their story.

“Our programme will be a real incubator for talent and, as part of the world’s leading foodservice wholesaler, who knows where it will take them!”

Applications for the first wave of Get Set Supply! nominees are now open, with more information available at www.brake.co.uk/get-set-supply.

Mark Poynton returns to Cambridge with Ancient Shepherds

- ANCIENT SHEPHERDS -

Established residents of Fen Ditton, Gareth and Emma have been fans of Mark Poynton’s cooking ever since he opened his Cambridge restaurant, Alimentum, in 2009. Having lived in the village for over 20 years, the pair safeguard the future of MJP @ The Shepherds and are proud to be part of its next chapter. With over two decades of running a successful Cambridge business behind them, Gareth and Emma ensure that Ancient Shepherds gives back to the local community. They work with two Cambridge charities: Centre 33, which offers free and confidential support to young people, and Jimmy’s, which provides housing and assistance to those experiencing homelessness. Support takes the form of “invisible dishes,” charitable events, and pledges to donate from profits made by the restaurant.

Fresh from winning a Michelin star for his Norwich restaurant, Mark Poynton at Caistor Hall, Mark leads the kitchen at Ancient Shepherds with his right-hand man, Chris Lee. Chris’s background includes holding three AA rosettes for more than a decade across Suffolk restaurants such as The Bildeston Crown. Together, they focus exclusively on a tasting menu that reduces waste while elevating both customer and staff experience. Tight menu management keeps food costs sustainable while the regularly changing dishes encourage diners to return. The structure also allows for a healthy balance behind the scenes: one team works four days a week, with set holidays when the restaurant closes. For Mark, creating a happy, balanced team goes hand in hand with building a thriving business.

The kitchen uses as many ingredients as possible from the Kitchen Garden at the back of the restaurant, complemented by Mark’s long-trusted suppliers. Menus come as three, five or seven courses, each including bread, snacks, and amuse bouche. Current dishes include chilled pea mousse with cottage cheese and truffle, wakame-cured cod with tomato and elder ponzu, loin of hogget with tapenade and courgette, and for dessert, pineapple parfait with fennel sorbet and pollen meringue.

The restaurant is housed in a former pub dating back to 1580. Emma has overseen a sympathetic refurbishment that preserves the building’s character, using a Farrow & Ball palette of soft plaster pink and grey to complement the exposed brickwork. Contemporary touches include ceramic slate-topped

tables, while walls host rotating exhibitions curated by Fen Ditton Gallery, featuring artists such as Roger Law, Rebecca Jewell, and Felix Higham.

With space for 34 covers, the restaurant maintains an unpretentious style where food takes centre stage. A cosy lounge welcomes guests for pre- or post-dinner drinks, while five simple, stylish rooms upstairs offer an overnight stay or a base to explore Cambridge.

With Mark’s reputation continuing to grow, Ancient Shepherds stands as both a community hub and a destination restaurant, strengthening Cambridge’s vibrant food scene.

Breathing Easy & Bug Free: Why Gozito Insect Screens Are a Hospitality Game-Changer

- GOZITO -

In the heart of Britain’s buzzing hospitality scene—be it chic seaside hotels, bustling cafés, or elegant country house bars—the guest experience hinges on a delicate balance: a sense of open-air freedom without the threat of uninvited six-legged visitors.

That’s where Gozito steps in, offering hospitality venues a sleek, eco-conscious solution to enjoy fresh air, uninterrupted views, and peace of mind.

Gozito’s retractable made-to-measure flyscreens, UK manufactured with precision, retrofit seamlessly onto doors and windows common in hospitality environments—bifold doors, French doors, sliding patios—and vanish out of sight when not needed. With high performance fiberglass mesh, these screens deliver crystal clear visibility while keeping out mosquitos, flies, wasps, hornets, and other pests.

For venues operating under stringent food safety and guest comfort guidelines, Gozito offers both aesthetic elegance and practical advantage. The minimalist design enhances venue ambiance rather than detracting from it—lightweight, discreet, and frustrationfree. Plus, each system is robust enough to withstand winds of up to 120 km/h, and they come with a reassuring 10year warranty.

Gozito screens do not use ground rails to trip up guests or interfere with accessibility. But, it’s not just about practicality—it’s about partnership and purpose. Gozito dedicates 2% of its order value to Buglife, supporting conservation efforts that safeguard vital insect populations while preventing insect casualties at your doorstep. It’s a subtle but impactful signal to guests that your establishment cares about the local ecosystem.

enthused: “Professional, approachable, considerate … the screens are of substantial quality yet discreet.”

In an industry where atmosphere, safety, and flow are everything, Gozito flyscreens stand out as a smart, stylish, and sustainable accessory. They let guests feel the breeze, enjoy the outdoors, and savour the moment—without swatting, shooing, or compromise.

Hospitality clients are already singing Gozito’s praises. One reviewer recently noted: “Fantastic service from first contact. After lots of intensive research, I decided to go with Gozito … Sleek in design … Super efficient from order to delivery.” Another

Solar Lights as The Ideal Solution to Lighting Up the Industry –

Food for Thought

- LUMENA LIGHTS -

The UK hospitality sector, valued at approximately £144 billion in revenue in 2024, actively faces pressure from high energy costs. Solar lighting offers a practical route to reduce energy spend, lower carbon emissions, and enhance guest satisfaction. As the UK commits to its 2050 net-zero goal, visible and lowdisruption measures like solar-powered lighting for entrances, car parks, pathways, terraces, pub gardens and signage not only cut costs but also demonstrate sustainability in action.

Solar lighting should be considered as the best way forward in the hospitality industry. Not only is solar lighting considered a more ‘green’ and sustainable approach to lighting up your space, which, over just a few months, pays for itself. Solar lighting is also considered wildlife-friendly, with some Lumena designs offering minimal light pollution. More than half of our designs also offer a timer and dimming sequence to reduce lighting levels in the early hours.

Lumena Lights offers a variety of traditional and contemporary lighting designs to fit all aesthetics. Some examples in our Pro Solar Lighting range: the Radiata Edisol [fig.1], a perfect traditional look with sustainably sourced Radiata Pine timber, making for the ideal addition to any venue.

If you’re looking for a solar signage option, Signa [fig.2] is suitable for graphics up to 1m in width and offers functionality control with the included remote. Alternatively, you can uplight signage, foliage or enhance other features with our Heliosol Floodlight Series [fig.3]. Three output levels of 200W, 300W, and 400W, Heliosol can be surface, pole, or spike mounted and can illuminate up to 20+ hours. Equipped with a memory function, this light will remember the last settings applied, ensuring consistent illumination day in and day out.

If you want to improve safety and visibility in the runup to your building, our Eccentrica [see overleaf] may be the perfect solution. With minimal upwards light and low light pollution, this contemporary design is a perfect choice for both rural and urban settings.

Solar lighting benefits both hospitality businesses and the public they serve. For venues, it cuts costs, reduces carbon, and supports net-zero goals. It requires little maintenance, and there is minimal disruption during installation. For guests, it creates safer, more welcoming spaces - illuminating gardens, paths, and entrances with clean, reliable light without overpowering glare. It’s a visible commitment to comfort, care, and a brighter, more sustainable future for all.

Choose solar, choose Lumena Lights. Quality that is guaranteed.

The one-stop-shop for tip-top cellars

- CHEMISPHERE & BEER PIPER -

People only buy a second pint based on the quality of the first and a good pint starts with exceptional cellar hygiene and immaculately clean glass ware – that’s where sister companies Chemisphere and Beer Piper are here to help.

Successful pubs, bars and restaurants that pride themselves on maintaining high cellar hygiene standards know that carrying out regular deep cleans on beer lines, overhauling glass ware care, as well as putting in place the correct processes is necessary to keep those customers happy. As the old adage goes, failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

Chemisphere continue educate customers and manufacture their superior products as part of their ongoing mission to raise the bar for quality standards across the industry.

Further cementing Chemisphere as the industry expert on what goes into the perfect pint is the success of their training academy. Brewing industry luminary Allan Stevenson heads up the academy offering courses from one hour Perfect Pint to daylong Masterglass courses for technicians and quality teams. “Allan is one of only a handful of Master Draughtsmen and what he doesn’t know about beer, beer quality and the industry as a whole, isn’t worth knowing!” said Linda Adamson, Marketing Manager at Chemisphere UK.

Everyone agrees that training is massively important in the industry but not everyone is investing in it as they assume it’s expensive. This is not the case at the Chemisphere Training Academy as prices start from as little as £10 per delegate – making it extremely affordable for everyone. They are keeping prices low to further their commitment to raising quality standards across the industry by making top quality training accessible to everyone.

Chemisphere’s sister company, Beer Piper, completes the trio of offerings as the home of a ground-breaking automated beer line cleaning system. Beer Piper are reminding outlets that they’re here to make beer line cleaning simpler, safer, quicker and cheaper.

Their latest, next generation, BP5 machine incorporates all the amazing capabilities of its predecessors as well as a host of new game-changing features. It replicates a traditional manual beer line cleaning sequence: flushing with water, dosing with chemicals, leaving to soak and ending with a final flush of water, while recording and reporting every step to the Beer Piper cloud-based portal.

Jeff Singer, Commercial Director at Beer Piper said “Beer Piper takes care of your line cleaning so you can focus more time and energy on your customers. Not only does it free up your time, it can also save you money by reducing wastage and negating the need to use costly gases. It’s no secret that times are tough and businesses are worried and the hospitality industry is no exception. Identifying new money saving measures is at the forefront of everyone’s minds and this is where Beer Piper can really help.”

The superior quality chemicals used by Beer Piper are manufactured by Chemisphere and ensure lines are immaculate and allow clients to serve the best pints possible.

Hygiene That Is Better for Business

- T ORK -

Maintaining cleanliness in hospitality settings is essential for guest satisfaction and encouraging repeat visits. A clean, comfortable environment also protects a venue’s reputation. Tork, the global leading brand in professional hygiene, provides solutions that benefit both businesses and their guests.

Hygiene That is Better For Business

Washrooms are the busiest part of any hospitality setting. Guests will almost always use a washroom as part of the visit, so it forms an important part of the overall guest experience. To meet customer standards, it is the establishment manager’s responsibility to ensure staff have access to tools to keep them clean. Hand towels and soaps need to be refilled constantly to ensure guests are able to wash and dry their hands, but in larger establishments, with multiple washrooms, this can become a timeconsuming task. It is therefore no surprise that 71% of cleaners1 wish their systems were easier to re-fill.

Tork products and services help cleaners manage washrooms more efficiently, freeing up time to clean other areas and reducing complaints. The Tork Xpress® multifold hand towel system comes with compressed refills that hold up to 50% more towels2, meaning the dispensers can serve twice the number of guests before refilling.

1 Problem detection study conducted in US, UK, Mexico and China, 2020

2 Compared to equivalent Tork standard folded towel

3 Standard EN17161.

Another consideration for hospitality settings is providing a positive and comfortable washroom experience for users, regardless of their health conditions, physical capabilities, stage of life or hygiene concerns.

Ensuring all guests feel comfortable using your facilities isn’t just an ethical initiative, it has real business ramifications. According to the new research from Tork, 73% of respondents said they wouldn’t return to a facility with poor washroom facilities with 38% avoiding eating and drinking because they feel unsafe. This presents a challenge to businesses that need to adapt to accommodate everyone’s needs. Tork has recently received the world’s first certification for meeting Design for All standard3 for their dispenser development process. This process considers diverse user needs to encourage and promote accessibility of products and services by as many people as possible.

Issues such as offering inclusive hygiene in your washrooms may not be the first thing that comes to mind when purchasing hygiene products, but they are important to your staff, customers and to wider stakeholders. Tork is here to help you navigate such requirements, offering to support you every step of the way.

Do Not Disturb: Steaming in Progress

- PROPRESS -

Does your hotel have Propress on its radar?

If not, it’s time to check Propress MINI, our handheld steamer, into your hotel. The Iron Age is over; there’s no need to clutter your guests’ storage space with a cumbersome iron and board.

Established in 1980, Propress is the original steaming brand supplying shops, soft furnishers, hotels, and resorts — removing creases in fabric wherever they appear. Our steamers are the highest-quality, longestlasting, and most reliable on the market.

In hotels, professional steamers have traditionally been used for housekeeping, banqueting and events, to provide a five-star freshening and anti-creasing touch to staff uniforms, curtains, tablecloths, and chair covers. (Steaming even kills bed bugs and their eggs almost immediately.)

Propress MINI can be used on a variety of clothing, from suits to dresses, and even delicate fabrics. It’s so versatile, it can be used vertically, for hanging fabric, or horizontally on bed linen and upholstery.

Guests often look to remove creases from clothes when unpacking or after a few days’ stay, especially those travelling for business or individuals attending events where wrinkle-free clothing is important.

Coupled with its ability to treat delicate materials, the Propress MINI is ready to go in just 45 seconds, making it a match made in heaven for wedding attendees. As the old saying goes: “Steam if you want to go faster!”

The Iron Age Is Over

• Easier to use and more guest friendly

Picasso Digital: The Future-Proof Hotel PMS That Puts You in Control of Bookings and Revenue

- TE CHOTEL -

Following the successful roll out of the automated check-in “Mona AI” module, AK Techotel is looking to expand its market share even further with its recently redeveloped Picasso Digital Hotel Property Management System.

The next twelve to eighteen months should be the most exciting period for customers and employees of AK Techotel as more and more revolutionary modules are being developed and released, as Picasso Digital consolidates its position as the future of Hotel Property Management Systems.

Alistair Brown, National Sales Manager of AK Techotel in the UK says “With over 97% of hotel bookings now coming from online platforms, it is vital that the hotel is able to control bookings coming in, availability of rooms going out, whilst also limiting the amount of commission that is being paid”. With Picasso Marketing the hotel can direct traffic to its own website booking engine, paying zero percent commission and control exactly what rates are available, as the website booking is an integral component of the PMS. Alistair Brown continues “The release of the next generation booking engine is being rolled out as we speak, and with Picasso Digital being at the forefront of the development, I for one can’t wait”.

Smarter Hotels, Sustainable Futures

- ZENNIO -

How Zennio’s KNX-based integration is redefining efficiency, guest comfort, and sustainability in hospitality.

In hospitality, every percentage point counts. Energy alone accounts for 3–6% of a hotel’s running costs — yet waste remains rife. The solution isn’t guesswork, it’s insight. The path to leaner, greener hotels starts with data, and ends with intelligent control.

That’s where Zennio comes in.

By integrating the hotel’s PMS with a KNX-based Guest Room Management System (GRMS), every element — HVAC, lighting, access, and entertainment — can work in sync. If a guest hasn’t checked in, the AC won’t run. If housekeeping sees a live “Make Up Room” signal, they head straight where they’re needed. If maintenance spots early-warning alerts, breakdowns are prevented before they cost revenue or refunds.

The KNX standard’s open interoperability means hotels aren’t locked into one vendor — they choose the devices that fit their needs today, knowing they can expand tomorrow. This flexibility, paired with Zennio’s global experience and local support, ensures systems grow with the property, not against it.

For guests, it’s seamless comfort — personalised lighting, temperature and services at their fingertips or via voice. For operators, it’s operational clarity, cost savings, and a measurable cut in environmental impact.

From luxury suites to common areas, front-of-house to back-of-house, Zennio’s technology delivers actionable insight and precise control. The result? Rooms that adapt in real-time, staff deployed with purpose, and assets maintained proactively.

In an era where sustainability sells and efficiency drives profit, intelligent integration is no longer a luxury — it’s the baseline. The hotels that thrive will be those who see technology not as an add-on, but as the engine of their operation.

Zennio already powers that future in over 100 countries. The question is: will your hotel be next?

Zennio History

Zennio was founded in 2004 with a vision to make the world “smarter” by providing innovative solutions to the control automation industry, what is many times referred to as smart buildings. Along the path it became more and more evident many hotels were missing the benefits of those solutions and Zennio committed itself to provide them

Natasha’s Law: Nearly four years on, are we doing enough on food labelling?

- BROTHER UK -

Evolving food labelling regulations have played a crucial role in improving food safety standards over the years, and have undoubtedly saved lives. Nearly four years ago, Natasha’s Law was introduced, revolutionising the way food allergens are labelled on Pre-packaged for Direct Sale (PPDS) foods. This vital legislation empowers the two million allergy sufferers in the UK to make informed choices about the food they consume.

“Labelling is essential for allergen management, and it’s at the heart of staying compliant with Natasha’s Law. It’s pushed businesses to think differently about their labelling processes. But there’s still more to be done. A 2023 study by Erudus1 showed that 54% of PPDS labels failed to meet the required standards, with messy, handwritten labels being a major issue.

“Clear, accurate labelling isn’t just about compliance –it’s about building trust with customers and ensuring their safety too. The good news is that technology is playing a key role in helping hospitality businesses to improve their labelling processes. Label printers,

1 Erudus’ study analysed 116 PPDS labels on foods purchased from delis, farm shops, cafés, food markets and festivals across the UK, report published in 2023.

for instance, have become an invaluable tool for creating clear, durable, and compliant labels. Unlike handwritten labels, printed versions are smudgeproof and easy to read, helping businesses avoid common pitfalls.

Brother’s labelling solutions for PPDS foods allow food outlets and providers to produce high-resolution and legible labels with all essential information. The option to create a standalone solution, whether with an integrated keyboard or by connecting a tablet, makes compliance much quicker and easier. These solutions help businesses meet regulations, streamline the labelling process, and give customers more confidence in their choices.

As food labelling requirements continue to evolve to ensure the safety and accuracy of food products, businesses need to adopt reliable and user-friendly technology that can produce accurate, legible, and cost-effective labels. This will not only keep customers safe but also safeguard business operations. Visit brother.co.uk/food-labelling

Why Multi-Site Solar is the Smart Move for the Hospitality Sector

- GEO GREEN POWER -

At a time where many hospitality chains and businesses are facing increased costs due to rising energy prices, finding ways to save on these costs has never been more important.

This is where multi-site solar installations can be an ideal solution. Not only can they lead to notable cost savings on energy use, but they can also clearly demonstrate a brand’s commitment to sustainability - something which is now often at the forefront of corporate agendas across many sectors, not just in hospitality.

Multi-Site Solar Explained

As the name suggests, ‘multi-site solar’ involves having solar panels installed across multiple business premises and locations, rather than having these on an individual or ‘single-site’ basis.

By having panels installed across their estates, businesses can sustainably produce green energy for their locations, instead of solely relying on the grid. This in turn helps to lower both their respective carbon footprints and their overall energy costs.

Additional Benefits of Multi-Site Solar Installations

Beyond the potential to save money on their energy consumption, there are also a multitude of wider benefits everything from hotel groups to bars and restaurant chains and more can find from these particular installations. These include:

Protection against energy price fluctuation

In recent years, our energy costs have varied significantly and being able to predict and manage what the next price cap will look like has been a challenge for many businesses. However, this can be offset with solar as it provides a consistent and free source of energy. Moreover, with additional battery storage, businesses can further offset this by storing excess energy for nighttime use or for times of peak usage.

Smart solar capture potential

It can be the case that certain premises within a hospitality estate won’t be suitable for solar panels. But with multi-site solar panel installations, firms can instead essentially share the benefits across their full organisation.

Boosted CSR and brand perception

By installing solar panels on sites across its premises, a hospitality business can clearly demonstrate its commitment to sustainability and boost its green credentials. This can then positively influence consumer perceptions of a brand, potentially leading to more customers.

Increased property value

A hospitality business can also increase the overall value of its property portfolio, as should a company wish to sell, having solar panels on multiple premises can make the estate a more attractive asset to investors.

Multi-Site Solar and Geo Green Power

To ensure a hospitality group gets the maximum benefit for its operations, rolling out a multi-site solar installation is something that requires specialist support.

One such provider is Geo Green Power and here the firm’s Communications and Projects Director, Kat Auckland, explains their process:

“We take an estate-wide approach, rather than working on single sites one-by-one. Then, with a holistic perspective, we can advise on the best course of action.

“As an example, if there’s a large national restaurant chain with 100 sites, we would assess each location for suitability to then create a rollout plan which is both cost-effective and one which will maximise the solar potential of the whole estate.

“Across these 100 sites, it might be the case that 75% would be viable for solar, at which point we would recommend a series of ‘trial sites’. This sees a dedicated team surveying, designing and facilitating installations on a select number of sites, to demonstrate the best practices for hospitality businesses and to show them the tangible benefits of an installation, ahead of a full rollout.

“From a financial perspective, it’s worth highlighting that businesses can also opt for ‘Power Purchase Agreements’ or ‘PPAs’. These purchase agreements will see a third-party finance the solar panel installation(s) and the business is then ‘sub-metered’ for the energy they produce and this then pays for the PPA fund. This can be an effective means of making a multi-site rollout more affordable.

“We’ve successfully rolled-out multi-site solar projects for major hospitality brands like Mitchells and Butler, Moto and Savoy. What’s more, our experience and nationwide teams means we can also facilitate the full delivery and installation of both ground-mounted and roof-mounted solar panel systems.

“We always ensure the installations are also safely done around a business’ operations, so there’s minimal disruption to any day-to-day commercial activity.”

Next Steps with Multi-Site Solar

It’s no secret that the hospitality sector is one with some of the highest energy demands. In fact, a recent study by AMA Research, its “Non-Domestic Rooftop Solar PV Market Report UK 2023-2027”, showed that chains with bars and restaurants face the biggest drains, with cooking and cool storage accounting for upwards of 80% of their total energy use.

Ultimately, when a hospitality group invests in multisite solar it isn’t just about finding a new energy solution. The reality today is that it’s a smart and strategic investment that can bring cost-savings, enhance a brand’s green credentials and help futureproof its operations.

Any businesses considering multi-site solar with their estate can contact Geo Green Power.

Innovative Solutions to address Food Ordering Challenges in Hospitality

In a progressively diverse operating environment in which businesses are having to navigate an ever-wider range of challenges, innovative technology can help to successfully drive food preparation efficiency as well as provide opportunities to diversify and boost revenue. With food and beverages increasingly ordered via multiple channels, demand for versatile food labelling solutions alongside technology to facilitate remote ordering has surged. By investing in innovative technology and future-proof solutions, businesses have the potential to enhance order accuracy and capitalise on future opportunities.

Given the increase in orders from a variety of channels including restaurant, kiosk / self-service, drive through as well as online collection and delivery, an efficient and accurate ordering process becomes essential, especially given stricter requirements for food labelling, allergies and customer order exceptions.

Printed orders can vastly improve order accuracy and with a growing number of custom orders and order modifications, a printed order that can be sent directly from the POS system, self-ordering kiosk or online app to the kitchen, allows all staff members

to see the customer’s requirements clearly, and effectively cuts down on errors. Serving accurate quantities and items first time improves order efficiency, while allowing for increased table and order turnaround.

Tablet and Cloud Connectivity

To optimise operational efficiency and reduce potentially costly downtime in a challenging environment, scalability and flexibility are key. Feature-rich hardware with versatile connectivity to support fixed, mobile and Cloud applications as well as the flexibility of multi-platform integration across iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS/ Web offers a range of options as the business evolves.

Central to achieving this is technology such as Star CloudPRNT™ which is is built into all of Star’s latest thermal receipt and label printers. Using Star CloudPRNT, food and beverage orders or labels created through web apps and Cloudbased software can be directly printed in the bar or kitchen without the need for an additional tablet or device to input the order, saving time and increasing order accuracy.

In addition to Star’s core CloudPRNT technology, Star’s managed service StarIO.Online, enables businesses to print to any CloudPRNT-compatible device with real-time monitoring and centralised control. Running on securely managed Cloud servers, StarIO.Online allows users to reliably track print jobs, barcode scans, new device connections as well as status monitoring of printers, scanners, connected cash drawers and other devices in a single or multi-venue environment.

This can prove invaluable for restaurants in terms of deployment, updates and device management, saving time and reducing costs.

New Food Labelling Technologies

With the growth of multichannel ordering accompanied by increasing demand for customer collection, third party delivery and legislation around accurate ingredients and allergy identification, the requirement for efficient and versatile food and beverage labelling is growing. Amongst the range of labelling solutions currently available, linerless labels without traditional backing paper offer both ecofriendly properties and operational efficiencies.

Star linerless label printers allow food orders to be printed onto variable length ‘sticky receipts’ which can follow the order through the preparation process and can even be used as the final bag seal with customer pick up order number and / or delivery address.

The expertly designed and compact TSP143IV SK linerless label printer is ideally suited for this application, featuring a fast print speed while benefitting from an internal power supply and 4-year warranty as standard. Able to print on 40mm, 58mm or 80mm wide linerless re-stick labels as well as receipts, the TSP143IV SK includes a paper taken sensor to queue multiple orders. The X4 version of the printer connects to USB, Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth, WiFi and includes Star CloudPRNT technology, offering a highly versatile label printing solution.

and delivery labels as well as customer orders. And, featuring the same benefits as Star’s receipt printing range including tablet and Cloud connectivity for ease of setup and multi-estate provisioning, these printers excel on all fronts.

Simple Installation and Operation

Hardware that is easy to set up and allows a fast-paced hospitality business to be up and running within minutes and serving customers quickly with minimal technical support required is invaluable. Delivering a new BLE based WLAN and Bluetooth setup designed to simplify wireless connectivity ‘outof-the-box’, the new X4 version of the TSP143IV SK printer as well as the mC-Label2 printer allow users to quickly connect via an auto-generated QR code or via the Star Quick Set Up Utility and be online within less than a minute. For multi-site installations, this also provides simple and straightforward provisioning of multiple printers.

Self-Service Kiosk Solutions

The rise in online ordering across multiple channels is resulting in greater demand for self-service kiosks for ordering alongside the collection and delivery of food and beverages in QSR.  Kiosks can act as both a costeffective solution for businesses and a convenient option for customers.

Providing support for traditional PCs and tablet POS, Star has developed long-standing partnerships with leading kiosk manufacturers supplying tier one chains as well as smaller venues. In addition to large-scale projects, the expanding range of low-cost offerings can be an attractive proposition for the SME market. Star also supports its iOS, Android, Windows, ChromeOS/Web tablet software partners with both open frame and housed kiosk printing solutions.

Alongside its compact mechanisms, Star’s robust packaged printers offer ease of installation, a variety of interface options and are CloudPRNT compatible for internet connected services. Driven by their lower cost compared to the modular open frame printer as well as ease to install, use and maintain, the packaged printer often successfully bridges the gap between a compact footprint and ease of use.

For businesses that require both food order and label printing solutions, the multi-media Star mCLabel2 and mC-Label3 printers can print traditional pre-formatted die cut labels, high adhesive permanent and semi-permanent linerless labels as well as receipts. This offers the ideal solution for printing different sizes and types of labels from 25mm to 80mm wide including permanent food and allergy labels for food storage, customer collection www.star-emea.com

Deter Dine & Dash with CardsSafe

- CARDSSAFE -

Dine and dash sends shivers down the spines of hospitality business owners and managers. It’s a frustrating experience that impacts your bottom line and demoralises staff. While you can’t completely eliminate the risk, you can take steps to deter these opportunistic thieves significantly.

Having worked with hospitality businesses for over two decades, from hotels to pub chains, sports venues, golf courses, big and small bars and restaurants, we’re often engaged in the conversation – how do operators best protect themselves from dine and dash? We’re seeing an increasing number of hospitality and leisure venues, both large and small, experiencing dine and dash issues. In fact, one in three calls to our customer service team is motivated by a customer walking out without paying their bill.

Prevention is Key in Deterring Dine and Dash 1 in 20 customers walk out without paying their food or drink tab, and in the current climate, things need to be looking better. The hospitality industry has been plagued with dine-and-dash since the cost-ofliving crisis and the pinch on everyone’s wallet. A few bad apples leaving a bar, pub or restaurant without paying can cost the venue hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds every year.

The best approach is to prevent dine and dash incidents in the first place. You can make it much harder for opportunists in the first place without making your customers feel like they are under suspicion. While no system is foolproof, staying vigilant, training staff, and adopting technology can create a safer and more profitable environment.

CardsSafe is a proven and genuine deterrent for walkouts and chargebacks. It helps staff upsell and increases trust between the venue and customers. This is why major chains like Young’s pubs, Hilton Hotels, Lord’s Cricket Ground, and many independent restaurants and bars utilise the system.

Trond Rornes, Director of CardsSafe Ltd., told us. “We’ve experienced a significant increase in enquiries relating to dine-and-dash. Most recently, a chain restaurant business with 43 venues took on our CardsSafe system because of far too many cases of customers making off without payment. We offer a solution to a national problem.”

*Plus, new customers have a sign-up fee of £39.95 and £9.50 P&P (plus VAT).

The wireless CardsSafe units can sit discreetly behind the bar and work alongside existing POS. In addition, the system does not capture data, so it never breaches GDPR. The tab-keeping system is straightforward to use, so it requires minimal training and helps venues and customers ensure secure tab-keeping.

At just £9.95* + VAT per unit (for 10 cards) per month rental, CardsSafe really pays for itself.

x1 £120 dine & dash = CardsSafe unit rental cost for 1 year

CardsSafe is cost-effective – it pays for itself – just one £120 walkout or a chargeback is the cost of one unit with ten draws per year. In addition, each hire comes with customer service troubleshooting, free replacement keys, and additional units that can be added at any time.

The question is, can you afford not to have CardsSafe as a part of your business?

A stunning transformation into Lost City Escapes—a premium escape room attraction featuring Poseidon’s Promise, the world’s first ocean sustainability-themed escape game, and Blackbeard’s Brig, a swashbuckling pirate adventure.

Escape rooms are a rare win-win for resorts: a multigenerational experience that appeals to families, couples, and corporate groups alike. This onceunused area is now a high-performing attraction— and a powerful revenue generator. Atlantis saw a full return on investment in less than four months

Unlike many resort activities, escape rooms are indoor, weather-proof, and located right on property—making them a convenient, year-round

option for guests seeking fun and excitement without leaving the resort.

Guests often linger after their game to debrief— driving more traffic to on-site restaurants and bars. And once someone plays their first escape room, they’re hooked—often booking an additional game to challenge themselves again.

Escape rooms also shine in the group and meetings market. Gamemasters offers a custom corporate team-building program, developed by a clinical psychologist. It’s an engaging, results-driven experience that meeting planners love—and one that provides a distinctive edge over competing venues.

Can you reimagine space on your property?

Enhance your guest experience, increase on-property spending, unlock new revenue streams and turn that space into your next big success story with custom escape rooms by Gamemasters.

Protect Your Building with Expert Passive Fire Protection and Fire Doors

- EXPERT PASSIVE FIRE PROTECTION -

At Element PFP we specialise in passive fire protection, helping business owners, developers and contractors protect their properties with fully accredited solutions designed to last.

Fire doors are one of the most visible and vital parts of passive fire protection. More than just a doorway, a properly fitted fire door is a crucial barrier in slowing the spread of flames and smoke. This extra time can make all the difference, protecting escape routes, limiting damage and most importantly, saving lives. At Element PFP we supply, install and maintain certified fire doors that not only meet strict safety requirements but also complement the design of a space, ensuring that safety and style go hand in hand.

Beyond fire doors, we provide a full range of passive fire protection services. Our work often begins with detailed fire compartmentation surveys, carefully assessing a property to identify risks and ensure that fire cannot move unchecked through hidden gaps or weak points. From there, we carry out professional fire stopping, using proven materials and techniques to seal service penetrations and protect critical escape routes. Every installation is completed to the highest industry standards, giving our clients confidence that every detail has been addressed.

to meet the needs of each project, offering expert advice and reliable delivery at every stage.
