Introducing the Dyson V11 Outsize™ cord-free vacuum, a bigger machine for bigger homes. Cordless in a bigger format, for faster deep cleaning Today, Dyson launched the new Dyson V11 Outsize™ cord-free vacuum, a supersize cord-free machine designed to clean up big messes in big homes. Building on the intelligence, power and performance of the Dyson V11 Absolute™ cord-free vacuum, the Dyson V11 Outsize™ has been re-engineered to include a 150% larger bin, 25% bigger cleaner head, with up to 60 minutes of runtime. Optimised for deep cleaning, the new Dyson V11 Outsize™ offers 20% more suction thanks to a powerful Dyson Hyperdymium motor and 18 Dyson cyclones which generate forces of more than 79,000g to fling microscopic particles – such as pollen, dust and bacteria – into the bin. The machine’s fully-sealed filtration system traps 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3

us a bigger and more powerful machine – engineered precisely for larger home owners,” he adds.

“Since inventing this cord-free format ten years ago, we’ve seen home cleaning become quicker and easier for millions of owners. But our engineers are never satisfied,” says John Churchill, VP of Floorcare at Dyson.

Key features of the Dyson V11 Outsize™ include:

“Following extensive research, we found that people with larger homes needed a machine that could offer deep cleaning capability, covering larger surface areas, complete with increased run time and larger bins. In the Dyson V11 Outsize™, we’ve combined our proprietary vacuum technology including a Dyson Hyperdymium motor, patented cyclones and full-machine filtration, with a reengineered cleaner head, hygienic bin and swappable battery system, giving

Dyson’s most powerful motor The Dyson V11 OutsizeTM cordfree vacuum is powered by a Dyson Hyperdymium motor. Spinning at 125,000rpm, it has a triple diffuser to optimise the balance of power and performance while reducing turbulence and noise. Its increased efficiency generates 20% more powerful suction than its predecessor. 25% wider cleaner head The Dyson V11 OutsizeTM cleaner-head measures 32cm in width. pass. This means you can clean more of your home, faster. High Torque cleaner head with Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS) The DLS system, unique to the High Torque cleaner head, intelligently detects brush bar resistance and automatically communicates with the motor and batteries’ microprocessors to change the suction power between floor types. This enables carpets to be deep cleaned and runtime to be extended on hard floors. The High Torque cleaner head features stiff nylon bristles that drive deep into carpets to remove ground-in dirt, and anti-static carbon fibre filaments that capture dust from hard floors and crevices. An integrated digital motor spins the brush bar up to 60 times a second.

150% bigger bin The Dyson V11 Outsize™ now has a bin capacity of 1.9 litres, 150% bigger than the Dyson V11 Absolute™ cordfree vacuum. For owners, this can mean fewer interruptions during your clean and enable you to clean for longer. The ergonomically adapted ‘point and shoot’ system makes emptying easy and hygienic. Battery offering 60 minutes of fadefree cleaning Dyson’s most powerful battery pack has seven high-capacity cells with nickelcobalt-aluminium cathodes to help deliver more suction power. Advanced filtration Exposure to dust and allergens can affect wellbeing. LCD screen intelligently reports in real time The on-board screen shows current performance, including selected power mode and remaining runtime, giving the user more control over their clean. The screen also reminds the user when to clean filters for optimum performance, and informs them of any blockages and how to clear them. Thanks to sensor magnets embedded in the filter assembly, the screen can tell the user when the filter isn’t connected properly. JLA’ s Ozone Washing System Proven to Remove All Traces of Coronavirus In University Study of Infected Laundry Treating coronavirus-infected laundry with a professional ozone washing system could have major implications for the future of infection control in the hospitality industry, according to new research. The in-depth study carried out at De Montfort University in Leicester found that the OTEX washing system, which uses ozone to kill bacteria even at low temperatures, completely removes all traces of coronavirus (OC43), a model virus for SARS-CoV-2. The system, created by JLA (the UK’s leading supplier of commercial laundry equipment) was tested by a research team overseen by Dr Katie Laird, Reader in Microbiology and Head of the Infectious Disease Research Group, and expert virologist Dr Maitreyi Shivkumar, Lecturer in Molecular Biology. The research found that cleaning with the OTEX technology completely removed the coronavirus, even in large washing loads. Additional testing also proved that the virus was not transferred to other textiles in the wash. Believed to be one of the first studies of its kind, the research proves that coronavirus-infected laundry can be cleaned even at low temperatures, allowing heat sensitive items such as personal clothing, hospital mattress covers, emergency rescue wear and microfibre items to be cleaned effectively. Dr Laird and her team are now completing the next stage of their research, looking at the rate at which the virus is inactivated in the cleaning process to give more data on the length of time and quantities of ozone required for the virus to be eliminated. Dr Laird comments, “A key element of tackling the spread of COVID-19 is to understand how effective infection control can be implemented in real world settings. There are a variety of situations in which textiles potentially carrying the virus need to be cleaned, such as care homes, hospitals and hotels.

“Until now we have had little data about how the virus responded to different types of cleaning. These initial results demonstrate that cleaning with ozone, as in the OTEX system, completely removes the model coronavirus. “This held true even when treating larger loads of washing, as is likely to be the case in a real laundry setting. This result can give reassurance that such cleaning is effective .” The implications of these findings are hugely significant in the fight against COVID-19 and the protection of both service users and staff. The financial and environmental benefits are equally as impressive. Research shows that over the average seven-year lifespan of a standard 30kg thermal disinfection cycle, using OTEX can reduce operating costs by over £130,000, whilst also reducing the businesses total carbon footprint by over 400 tonnes. Helen Ashton, CEO from JLA commented “I am really excited about the results of these tests as here at JLA we play our part in eradicating this terrible virus. We have been developing and refining the OTEX laundry system for over fifteen years and its benefits to our customers are clear - full eradication

of disease, including coronavirus, even at low temperatures and a significant reduction in operational cost coupled with a meaningful benefit to the environment. “The system has been designed to be easy to use with real time verification of the disinfection process on every wash which provides a unique audit trail of full compliance to regulatory standards.” This is the latest accolade for JLA’s innovative OTEX system, having been previously recognised by the NHS Rapid Review Panel in 2009 set up by the government to fast track new technology to address hospital acquired infections, achieving the highest grade (level 1) for infection control products. More recently, assessment of compliance with current Public Health England HTM01-04 guidelines for the decontamination of healthcare linen. The OTEX ozone system is also fully supported in line with the EU Biocidal Products Regulation. For more information about OTEX by JLA, please visit: https://jla.com/otex

Stage 3. End of life Microbes like Biojet® and start breaking down the packaging

Stage 4. Biodegradation Microbes break down Biojet® in a much shorter period of time

Stage 5. Gone Microbes consume the whole pack and leave organic matter CO2 & CH4

will only happen in the correct environment where microbes exist.

As people seek better environmental packaging solutions, Bell Packaging is delighted to announce the introduction of this exciting new product which means we can now offer a complete environmental range for new packaging projects in 2021.

VIRGIN – REUSABLE – RECYCLABLE – RECYCLED – BIODEGRADABLE Traditionally biodegradable / compostable products are very expensive. In some cases the cost has been two or three times more than virgin products which often makes the packaging cost prohibitive and is therefore not widely used. There has also been concerns expressed about the viability of biodegradable products questioning what remains after the degradable process has been completed. ®

Biojet answers both of these challenges. It is a much lower cost solution and has many exciting environmental credentials. Traditionally plastic products use crude oil to create polymer which is then converted into plastic which we use to make PET boxes, tubes and clampacks. Our challenge has been to make these designs biodegradable but not affect the performance of the packaging whilst it is in use. ® To make Biojet we introduce an additive which attracts microbes that uses plastic as their source of food and energy. These microbes can be found in landfill, the ocean floor, rivers and swamps where bacteria and microbes thrive. When the microbes meet the plastic, the biodegradation process is accelerated as the plastic is consumed. This process

www.bellpackaging.com

What used to take thousands of years to break down plastic now takes much less time as the microbes consume the entire product. After the process has been completed, the microbes leave behind the same bi-products as decaying organic matter – humus (soil), CO2 and CH4 both of which can be captured to produce clean energy. ® Biojet packaging is 100% recyclable through the normal PET recycling centres.

This additive has been independently tested and complies with the Intertek Greenleaf Biodegradability Standard. ® The additive used in Biojet is 100% organic and is comprised of non toxic raw materials which are independently approved for direct contact with food. The additive also complies with other domestic and international requirements for the absence of toxic or other potentially harmful substances.

The additive is FDA Title 21 Part 177 compliant for food contact and fully compliant with EU REACH Regulation No 1907/2006. ® Testing to date shows that Biojet packaging made with this additive performs in the same way as standard recycled plastic. The shelf life, appearance, clarity and strength of the packaging all remain constant with the same characteristics as packaging made using virgin or recycled polymers. ®

Biojet is a Registered Name owned by Biojet® Bell Packaging Limited. Biojet® has an EU & UK patent pending and is Designed only available for supply to to keep our Bell Packaging clients. oceans

16 THE WORLD OF CLEANING & FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

Skanska partners with Ecocleen to deliver multi-site contract cleaning during COVID-19 Ecocleen Established in 1887, Skanska is one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups. The multinational company operates around the world with over 38,000 employees worldwide. In the UK, it is best known for working on a number of major projects, including the Gherkin, the M25 and Crossrail, to build, upgrade and maintain the country’s infrastructure for future generations. Navigating the pandemic As part of its infrastructure services business, Skanska maintains the highways network across Devon, which has the longest road network in England. It provides an essential service that has continued throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. To ensure its operations were COVID-19 safe, Skanska had to make some changes in its approach to day-today operations. For instance, deskbased staff went straight to working from home, leaving the offices to those managing operations out on the network. To maintain ‘business as usual’ out on the road network, the company had to think on its feet and find solutions, with the added challenge of government and industry guidance changing almost daily. With the common goal of health and safety for everyone, the team at Skanska pulled together. Taking preventative measures As a construction company, Skanska is following the guidelines set out by the Construction Leadership Council, which has shared regular guidance notes on what is needed to run a site during the pandemic, emphasising the importance of good hygiene practices. After reviewing its cleaning regime with Ecocleen, Skanska introduced

an enhanced cleaning regime for the Devon contract, covering all the touchpoints and other significant risk areas to reduce or remove COVID-19 transmission. Skanska worked with Ecocleen to increase the frequency of cleaning in its main depots, used daily by operatives, and extended this to six satellite depots that aren’t used as regularly but are essential for Skanska’s winter maintenance operation. During the summer, these depots provided an extra stop-off point and welfare facility for operatives – 15 sites in total. To ensure operatives had enough facilities available to them to enable the right levels of hygiene, Skanska also installed an additional five portable toilets at strategic points across Devon, with the Ecocleen team cleaning them twice each day. Ecocleen rose to the challenge, as they were in fairly remote locations. With quieter roads, Skanska was able to deliver more of its planned road maintenance work, for which it needed on-site welfare facilities. Again, Skanska and Ecocleen worked quickly to make sure these sites are cleaned every day. Delivering local expertise The Ecocleen team tackled these challenges front on and delivered. Ecocleen was able to hit the mark and deliver the cleaning resources required

for Skanska in a very timely manner. For this partnership to be successful, collaboration and speed of response were key. To stay efficient, Ecocleen set up a common Microsoft Teams channel, so that everyone from both companies had sight of all the information required to move forward quickly. Skanska knew what it required as far as frequency and scope of cleanliness. Ecocleen took this one step further to provide the best advice from the team’s local experience, industry knowledge and understanding. Before COVID-19, cleaning was a structured and planned thing, with a set cleaning regime for each Skanska depot. Now, it is a service that is operationally led to adapt to changing needs with the added benefit of a strong and transparent partnership with Ecocleen. “Since COVID-19, everybody is more aware of hygiene and more sceptical when they walk into a toilet or even a building as to whether it has been cleaned sufficiently. Hopefully, this means that cleaners will be valued more going forward, because in the past it hasn’t necessarily been looked upon as the type of role that it should be - it’s a hard job!” said Gary Williams, operations manager for Skanska at Devon Highways. “We have never been so close to a cleaning company before and we wouldn’t have been able to continue operating as normal without the help of Ecocleen.”

Slip Test By P&S Property Management Client: Rendall & Rittner Kidbrooke Village Kidbrooke Village is a Luxurious Residential Block near Greenwich South London managed by Rendall & Rittner. The flooring had become slippery when wet around the swimming pool and within the changing areas, we performed slip tests which failed with an average reading of 22. Test cleaning with PH neutralising chemicals indicated a large build up of Alkaline soap residue

causing the areas to become dangerous under foot when wet. All areas required to be thoroughly Machine scrubbed removing all build up of slippery residue. Particular care taken when working pool side and staff strictly adhering to Risk Assessments throughout process.

Once the areas were all cleaned, neutralised and a non slip chemical applied. On completion further slip tests were performed and all areas passed with an average reading of 36. Reports were then issued to client and managing agent along with a recommended ongoing maintenance plan to avoid further build up.

3. Darcy Spill Kits

A must-have product for all those in the facilities management industry, the Sealey Tools Steam Cleaner is the ideal tool for those small but stubborn stains. Using only tap water, the unit produces pressurized steam up to a maximum of 160°C which cleans, sanitizes and sterilizes.

When dealing with chemicals and cleaning supplies that can have a dangerous impact on people or the environment if used incorrectly, it is so important to have an effective and easy to use spill kit on hand in case of emergency.

For optimum efficiency the steam cleaner heats up to full temperature in just 7 minutes and includes a variety of accessories for multiple cleaning tasks. There isn’t a spot this machine won’t reach as it is ideal for cleaning a range of surfaces including for cleaning carpets and upholstery, alloy wheels, car interiors, floors, mirrors, glazed areas, service and toilet areas. One of the reasons Indust-Solution Services has made this a top pick is because unlike chemical cleaning devices, the steam itself leaves no toxic residues making it a lot safer to use in the workplace.

Unfortunately, human error is difficult to minimise completely as accidents always happen, but the damage is minimised with products such as the Drizit range of Emergency Response Spill kits manufactured by Darcy Spillcare. The spill kits are designed to allow you to effectively respond to any oil, chemical or general fluid spill on site, land and water, quickly and easily to ensure limited damage to the surround environment. Proposed APPG‘should call for key worker status and vaccines for cleaning and hygiene personnel’ . APPG sponsor hopes MPs will champion the vital role of the industry in fighting Covid-19 The proposed All Party Parliamentary Group for the cleaning and hygiene industry will have the status of the sector’s operatives as key and essential workers, and their priority for Covid-19 vaccination, as a priority. The British Cleaning Council (BCC), which is sponsoring the new APPG, says it will push for the recognition cleaning and hygiene operatives deserve for the vital work they are doing in tackling the pandemic and in helping the UK to recover from it. Cleaning and hygiene operatives are crucial to the continued operation of many key and essential industries but not all of them have been given key and essential worker status. By providing cleaning operations, the UK cleaning and hygiene industry helps to keep other essential industries going, such as the NHS, food manufacture, key public services and transportation, so protecting the health and well-being of their workers, colleagues and the public. Guidance currently does not specifically name cleaning and hygiene personnel as key workers, although ‘support staff’ in the NHS, education and other key sectors are identified as essential workers. Additionally, the priority list for vaccinations is variable, and after the initial phases, the BCC hopes industry personnel will be among the occupations given higher priority because of the risks staff are exposed to during their work. The BCC has been working to interest MPs in taking part in the APPG for the UK cleaning and hygiene industry and hopes Parliament will inaugurate it soon. APPG members will decide their own agenda but the BCC will use its influence as the voice of the industry

and the sponsor of the group to encourage them to address its concerns. Chairman of the BCC, Paul Thrupp, said: “It is very frustrating that, despite months of us calling for all cleaning and hygiene personnel to be given key and essential worker status, it still hasn’t happened. “Industry personnel are in the frontline in the fight against the virus, getting exposed to it in the workplace as they try to protect others. “Without their bravery, the delivery of key services would be hampered by sickness among staff and the UK would be in more trouble. “Cleaning and hygiene operatives will continue to play a key role in the future as we battle to beat the pandemic and get back to normality.

“It is vital that the Government recognises this by giving them key worker status and high priority for vaccinations. We hope the APPG will put this urgent issue right to the top of its agenda.” The BCC is supporting an APPG for the industry to help raise awareness of the sector’s huge scale and importance, and to give the industry a voice in Parliament and ensure it can influence relevant decisions. The BCC has been working alongside former MP for Stirling, Stephen Kerr, to attract MPs to join the APPG. After inauguration by Parliament, MPs would elect their own chair and decide which issues they want to discuss.

Make the safer choice

Right now, the demands put on safe hygiene solutions in public spaces are higher than ever before. Keeping up with hand hygiene is the best way to prevent the spread of infection, and hand drying is a big part of that. In hygiene-critical areas like hospitals where safety is paramount, paper hand towels are the only recommended drying solution as jet air dryers produce more airborne droplets* increasing the risk of bacteria spread. Today, 59% PG QFPQMF JO UIF 6, wish that more facilities would offer hand paper towels as BO BMUFSOBUJWF UP air dryers**, making paper hand towels by far the most preferred choice. Virus-free air at ISH digital 2021 MANN+HUMMEL exhibits HEPA air filters and air purifiers which filter more than 99.995 percent of viruses, bacteria and microorganisms from the air. Including SARS-CoV-2. Innovative technologies to return to everyday life: MANN+HUMMEL has developed effective methods and equipment to reliably clean indoor air. The filtration expert from Ludwigsburg will present its solutions at ISH digital 2021 (March 22 to 26) to a wide trade fair audience. The MANN+HUMMEL product portfolio comprises air filters for HVAC systems as well as mobile and stationary air purifiers. Each HEPA air filter installed (individually tested according to ISO 29463 and EN 1822) is equipped with an especially energyefficient ePTFE medium, and is capable of safely filtering out more than 99.995 percent of viruses, bacteria and microorganisms from the air. This means they are making an important contribution to tackling the Coronavirus pandemic. HEPA H13 and H14 air filters for HVAC systems The Nanoclass Cube Pro membrane has been developed for central HVAC systems. In the cold season, the HEPA filter allows the system to return to its most energy-efficient air circulation mode, thereby ensuring cleanroomquality air. Its new ePTFE medium reduces the pressure drop by 50 percent compared with micro-glass fiber media HEPA filters, thereby bringing the operating costs of a heating and ventilation system back to a level comparable with a ‘pre-Coronavirus’ filter configuration. The filter is available in standard sizes, and can be installed without system modifications. This filter also meets the requirements of fire protection class E, as per EN 13501. Mobile and stationary HEPA room air purifiers Room air purifiers with ePTFE H14 air filters are another effective solution in the fight against the pandemic. The MANN+HUMMEL product portfolio consists of the stationary OurAir SQ 2500 for rooms up to 200 square meters and the OurAir TK850 mobile

air purifier for rooms up to 70 square meters. The new OurAir SQ 500 for rooms up to 40 square meters has also been added to the range of solutions and will be available in March. The highperformance devices are especially quiet and have a modern design. Infectious virus particles which can attach to aerosols, such as SARS-CoV-2 for example, are almost completely filtered from the air (more than 99.995 percent) along with bacteria and microorganisms. Recent measurements, carried out by the Institute for Mechanical Process Technology and Mechanical Systems (MVM) at KIT Karlsruhe, including in the classroom of an elementary school, demonstrated the high efficiency of the devices in terms of reduced aerosol concentration and therefore reduced risk of infection from viruses and bacteria. The studies provided evidence that it was possible to reduce the aerosol concentration in the room by 50 percent within four minutes, and by 90 percent within 15 minutes.

Applications for the HEPA air purifiers are extremely wide-ranging, and extend across all environments where large numbers of people meet or spend time together: Kindergartens, schools, universities, senior and care homes, office buildings, food retail, stores, event locations and transportation. Decades of experience in filtration for cleanrooms and operating theaters MANN+HUMMEL has more than 60 years of know-how in the cleanroom filtration sector (HEPA), and is the global market leader in surgical air filtration. The company, headquartered in Ludwigsburg, Germany, has specialized in especially sensitive areas for many years. HEPA air filters and air purifiers also make sense long-term, since not only do they filter the SARS-CoV-2 virus from the air, but also influenza and cold viruses, as well as free allergens. This means occupants can continue to ‘breathe easy’ even in the postCoronavirus era.

Hycolin Antiviral Cleaner Is Officially Certified To Kill Covid-19 Mirius, the makers of Hycolin Antiviral disinfectants, are proud to announce that its Hycolin Multipurpose Antiviral Surface Cleaner has been tested against the SARS-CoV-2 virus by scientists using the NEN 14675 Standard Method and has been proven and certified to be e¬ffective against this Novel Coronavirus that is the cause of COVID-19. Until now, disinfectant cleaners claiming to be effective against Coronavirus have usually been tested against a surrogate virus that was only similar to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), not the virus that causes COVID-19 itself. Mirius, in conjunction with independent laboratory, Wageningen Bioveterinary Research Institute (WBVR), have tested the Hycolin Multipurpose Antiviral Surface Cleaner against SARS-CoV-2 which causes COVID-19. The Hycolin Multipurpose Antiviral Surface Cleaner was demonstrated to kill over 99% of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in less than 5 minutes contact. WBVR, working in collaboration with the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands, is a global leader in science and is well-known and respected for its research into infectious diseases, notably in the important discipline of virology. The WBVR collaborates with public and private partners to safeguard animal and public health through prevention, eradication, and control of diseases. Research institutes like the WBVR are understandably deeply engaged in the science of the

COVID-19 pandemic. To achieve their admirable and very necessary objectives the WBVR routinely handles viruses that are not available to the wider scientific community including laboratories that provide commercial disinfectant (antiviral) product testing services. Due to the limited availability of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in laboratories around the world, the usual approach to the assessment of ‘antiviral’ disinfectant products is to test the product against surrogate viruses that are used as replacements for the unavailable SARSCoV-2 virus. However, obtaining an independently generated, empirical result of an antiviral product’s performance against the virus that causes COVID-19 is definitive and the ultimate goal in the context of antiviral disinfectant testing. WBVR have combined Mirius’ bestselling Hycolin Antiviral Disinfectant with the SARS-CoV-2 virus according to the specifications of the NEN 14675 Standard Method in order to measure the inactivation effect of Hycolin on the COVID-19 virus. Dr Richard Hastings, Mirius’ microbiologist and technical lead comments: “Mirius are delighted and honoured to collaborate with the scientists at the Wageningen Bioveterinary Research Institute in order to perform such a novel and important study to better describe the antiviral performance of its Hycolin products. To gain access to the actual SARS-CoV-2

virus is a huge privilege and highlights Mirius’s standing within the biosecurity community, especially as our products are under the scrutiny of world-leading virologists. This study outcome brings additional confidence to Hycolin users as being truly effective against the virological cause of COVID-19. It also demonstrates Mirius’ commitment to the ongoing global campaign against COVID-19 and the capability of Mirius to advance the science behind its best-selling products for the benefit of customers.” Darren Langdon, Managing Director at Mirius comments: “We are proud to offer consumers this powerful and effective cleaning solution that specifically targets the virus that causes COVID-19. At Mirius we strive to offer powerful cleaning solutions to consumers at affordable prices, and our new Hycolin Multipurpose Antiviral Surface Cleaner will offer an even safer and effective way to protect homes from COVID-19. We are pleased to have worked with the scientists at the Wageningen Bioveterinary Research Institute in order to deliver this powerful cleaning solution.” Hycolin is available in stores across the UK including Aldi, Lidl, Savers, Dunnes Stores Ireland.

SC Johnson Professional Hand Sanitisers Meet Disinfection Efficacy Test Standard against Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-related Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) strain: USA-WA1/2020. New testing conducted by an independent laboratory in the United States on SC Johnson Professional’s alcohol-based hand sanitisers, InstantFOAM Complete and InstantGEL Complete, has concluded that these products all meet the EN14476:2015 guideline for effective deactivation of the virus Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-related Coronavirus 2 (SARSCoV-2) strain: USA-WA1/2020. SC Johnson Professional, manufacturer of high quality at-work skin care products, is pleased to reassure users that the sanitiser products noted above have now been tested and shown to effectively deactivate the virus, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndromerelated Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in accordance with the EN14476:2015 suspension test guideline, after 30 seconds contact time. The products already meet the criteria of having “Fully Virucidal” properties i.e. effective against all enveloped and non-enveloped viruses in accordance with EN14476:2015 standard and are now among the first in the world

to be specifically tested against the SARS-CoV-2 virus strain to recognised standards. EN14476:2015 is the European Standard quantitative suspension test method used to evaluate the virucidal properties of chemical disinfectants intended for use in the medical sector. SC Johnson Professional’s fully virucidal sanitisers were re-tested specifically against SARS-CoV-2 due to its status as a ‘novel’ or new virus. In this test standard, the disinfectant must achieve greater than 4 log reductions (a 99.99% reduction) in viral titre following a contact time no longer than 120 seconds. In this testing, the SC Johnson Professional sanitiser products noted above all met these requirements when tested for 30 seconds contact time well within the contact time limit of the standard. SC Johnson Professional hand sanitiser products are marketed as PT1 biocidal products used for human hygiene purposes only and whilst they are one of many effective tools in the battle

against the COVID-19 pandemic, their use does not prevent or treat COVID-19 disease or provide any medicinal effects or benefits to the user. SC Johnson Professional recommends that users of its alcohol-based hand sanitisers, InstantFOAM Complete and InstantGel Complete, should apply enough product to keep the hands wet for 30 seconds and ensure that the whole of the hands are covered with sanitiser including between the fingers and thumbs, around the fingernails and on the backs of the hands. More information on correct application technique, including video, can be found here.
