Deed Restrictions IN THE WOODLANDS

Thinking about home improvement?

Here is a summary of requirements in The Woodlands (not all-inclusive).

Long-range planning is critical to preserving the quality of development and to maintaining compatibility with the environment.

The Woodlands Township is a master-planned community that provides for orderly development of residential, commercial and industrial land usage. Long-range planning is critical to preserving the quality of development and to maintaining compatibility with the environment.

Development of The Woodlands is guided by a group of legally binding covenants and design standards that protect the aesthetic integrity of the community. Additions and modifications to residential properties must be in compliance with these covenants and standards to assure continuation of good design, maintain property values and preserve the natural environment.

Residential Design Review Committees

The Covenants require that all changes and improvements to a property must be reviewed. Each developed village in The Woodlands has a Residential Design Review Committee (RDRC) made up of at least three people elected by the village residents and property owners to serve one-year terms. Committee members serve in a volunteer capacity and represent the resident viewpoint essential to the evaluation and approval

process. Each village RDRC meets once a month to review property owners’ applications for modifications or additions to their properties to ensure conformance with the Covenants.

The following is a brief summary for easy reference. This summary of the protective covenants and residential standards is representative, but not all-inclusive, of those now in effect in The Woodlands. Separate standards govern non-residential projects. Since the standards are updated from time to time, it is important that residents check with The Woodlands Township for copies of the most current standards. Applications for additions and modifications will be approved on the basis of the standards in effect on the date submitted for review by the Residential Design Review Committee.

For further information about the application process, contact The Woodlands Township at 281-210-3973. Application forms for various types of projects and copies of the most up-to-date standards are available at The Woodlands Township, located at 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard, and on the Web site at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov.

6 THE WOODLANDS COMMUNITY MAGAZINE FEBRUARY 2014

Summary of Standards

Fences: Some lots are restricted to a specific fence design, including those with large ponds, swimming pools or spas, on golf courses or lakes, corner lots, lots adjoining major streets, townhomes, patio homes and those in certain sections of The Woodlands.

Fences are limited in height depending on lot size. For most fences, the maximum height is six feet. A single rot board no taller than six inches may be included at the base of the fence, then the total maximum fence height is six feet, six inches. The smooth side must face outward on all sides of the lot and the construction side must not be visible to adjacent streets, reserves, parks or pathways. Prohibited fencing materials include chain, chain link, wire mesh, wirebound picket, plastic, fiberglass, rope and bamboo.

Decks and other patio structures : Decks, patios, arbors, trellises, sunshades, storage sheds, gazebos and similar structures must conform to the architectural character of the existing dwelling. Easements and setbacks must be observed for structures with solid roofs. Gazebos, summer kitchens, patio covers and some storage sheds may also be required to respect setbacks and building lines. Please contact the Covenants Department for more detailed application information before beginning construction of these projects.

Colors and materials : Exterior painting or re-staining and roof replacement require an application and review and action by the Residential Design Review Committees, prior to installation. Changes in exterior color or material must be reviewed by the Residential Design Review Committees. This standard applies to doors, shutters, trim, and changes in siding. Limited colors and selections in muted shades are strongly encouraged. Canvas awnings and roofs must be of solid muted shades and require an application and review prior to installation.

Exterior Lighting: Due to their industrial nature, some lamp types and fixture designs are not allowed on residential lots. In general, pole lights, pedestal lights and tree lights intended to shine downward must be located at least 20 feet inward from the street pavement edge and respect all easements. Mercuryvapor lamps are acceptable only in shielded fixtures mounted high in trees to provide low level ambient property illumination (moonlight).

The level of illumination of any light should not be offensive or create a glare when viewed from outside the lot. Directional lights must be aimed into the lot on which they are installed. The light source must be shielded.

Lights mounted on buildings, poles or trees to provide general lot illumination must be mounted in fixtures that shield visibility of the lamp from the street or adjacent properties and direct the illumination upward or downward.

Play Structures : Criteria for the color, materials and placement of play equipment and structures are designed to minimize visual impact of the equipment. Basketball goals must be attached to the residence or mounted on a pole at least 20 feet from a street edge and five feet from the side lot line or no less than half way up the drive or adjacent to the dwelling or garage. Play equipment and basketball goals are not permitted on cul-de-sac islands or on the street edge.

Forts, swing sets, etc., are restricted in height, tarp color and size and must be located in the rear or side yard and

not in any easement. Wood construction is preferred. Play structures generally require approval prior to installation.

Room additions, garages, and detached buildings : Please call The Woodlands Township for the Neighborhood Criteria that apply to any lot before planning a project. Special restrictions as to the percentage of a lot that may be covered by hard surface material as well as the restrictions related to the amount of square feet of living area in a given home are attached to each lot. The design of any proposed alteration must be architecturally compatible with the dwelling.

Detailed construction drawings, exterior elevation drawings and specifications for color and materials must accompany the completed application. The drawings must indicate how the proposed improvement will relate architecturally to the existing residence, and the plans must be sealed by an A.I.B.D./T.I.B.D. or N.C.B.D.C. designer, licensed architect or structural engineer. Inspections and a refundable compliance deposit are also required. Conversion of a garage or carport to some use other than for automobile storage is generally prohibited. Exceptions may be granted where an architecturally compatible approved replacement structure is provided.

Pools and spas : Pools and spas require an application and review by Residential Design Review Committees. Pools and spas must be enclosed by an approved fence with self-closing and self-latching gates. Pool barrier fencing must comply with the Residential Code.

continued on page 8

FEBRUARY 2014 THE WOODLANDS COMMUNITY MAGAZINE 7

The pool and/or spa, as well as its associated decking, berms and waterfalls must not encroach upon any easement. Concrete, paving, and interlocking pavers are also limited by standards regulating lot coverage. Additionally, the water surface area is also limited by the standards. The homeowner should allow plenty of time for the application to be processed as drainage, access routes and tree-removal questions are all carefully considered. Inspections and a refundable compliance deposit are required.

Satellite dishes : A satellite dish antenna can be allowed on a lot if the dish is inconspicuous. All dishes must be black or gray in color. The removal of vegetation for signal reception is not allowed. More stringent restrictions apply to dishes more than 39 inches in diameter. Since special restrictions apply to the location of satellite dishes on a lot, please contact The Woodlands Township before a purchase is made.

Covenant Provisions

Landscaping and tree removal: In an effort to preserve the forested environment and ecological balance of The Woodlands, no tree greater than six inches in diameter when measured two feet above natural grade, may be removed without approval of the Residential Design Review Committees. Native plants are encouraged.

Pets: Residents of The Woodlands are limited in the number of animals to be kept outside the home. No more than two, either cats and/or dogs, may be kept outside. Puppies and kittens are not counted in this total until they are weaned from their mother. Animals must not be allowed to run at large, but must be confined to the owner’s lot or controlled by a restraint device.

Fireworks, firearms and hunting: The sale and use of fireworks and the use or discharge of firearms of any kind whatsoever is strictly prohibited on any property within The Woodlands. Hunting of any kind and by any method is also prohibited.

Residential lot use restrictions : Without prior approval by the Residential Design Review Committee, no structure may be used for any purpose other than that for which it was originally approved. No profession or home industry may be conducted from any residential property without committee approval.

Garage, yard, and estates sales are expressly prohibited: The Woodlands Village Associations conduct a flea market twice a year in which residents may participate.

Boat, trailer and automobile parking and storage: Boats, trailers, trailer houses, recreational vehicles, truck campers, semi-truck tractors, or mobile homes, may not be parked 48 consecutive hours or more on any street or any lot, where visible at ground level from a street or adjacent property. Parking on lawns, ditches, open space areas or other dirt, gravel or grassy areas is not allowed. Motor vehicles that are disabled or mechanically inoperable on a public street may not be parked on any street or at a location where visible at ground level from any street or adjacent property.

Disposition of trash and other debris: All trash, refuse or recycling containers may be placed near the street edge no earlier than one day prior to waste collection. Emptied containers must be removed from the street, front yard or driveway by the end of the collection day. Containers must be stored on the owner’s property at all times. All trash and refuse containers must be stored out of public view at ground level from the street or alley or adjacent and surrounding properties at all times except during waste collection.

No lumber, metals, bulk materials, refuse or trash may be kept, stored or allowed to accumulate on any lot or adjacent area such as greenbelts or open space areas, drainage easements, vacant lots, etc. Building materials may be stored temporarily on the premises during a construction project for a period not to exceed 120 days.

Use of easements and rights-of-way: Easements provide a buffer zone between properties to minimize the impact of one lot upon another. They are set aside for providing utility service and drainage to each lot, and to provide natural vegetative screening and privacy separations between lots. Being certain that your project respects all easements is perhaps the most compelling reason to contact The Woodlands Township before you complete your project plans. This list is not all-inclusive. Please contact The Woodlands Township for the current standard as applicable at 281-210-3973, or visit www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/ covenants. Some standards are expected to be revised in 2014.

Happy30th Anniversary

In1984, The Woodlands Watch began with a handful of volunteers who believed in crime prevention as a proactive means of creating a safer community. The group attended a crime prevention class at San Marcos State University and following their return, they organized The Woodlands Watch Program. The program, which began as a grass roots program, has expanded to include Campus, Senior and Apartment Watch – other programs that target specific residents within The Woodlands.

Three decades later, The Woodlands Watch continues to grow. However, the watch continues to base its practices on the same concepts:

• Neighbor knowing neighbor is the first step in crime prevention.

• The community must maintain a strong working relationship with local law enforcement.

These concepts are incorporated in The Woodlands Watch through the partnership between The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Services, public safety personnel and a network of resident volunteers called coordinators. Crime prevention practices are shared and neighbors are encouraged to get to know one another through a series of outreach programs. These programs include Watch Meetings, Good Neighbor Days, National Night Out, Neighborhood

Involvement Days and other events scheduled throughout the year.

The strength of the program can be attributed to the dedication of the network of volunteer coordinators who devote their time and energy to creating the sense of community and a safe community. Originally, the group of coordinators numbered fewer than a dozen. Today, the number of volunteer coordinators has grown to more than 1,600 while member participation has grown to more than 24,000.

A strong partnership with community safety personnel is also essential to the success of The Woodlands Watch. The Woodlands Township is grateful to partner with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 4, who bring excellent crime prevention programming to the residents. In addition, the Township is thankful to The Woodlands Fire Department for their fire prevention contributions and the Conroe Independent School District Police for their support of the Campus Watch program.

Throughout the years, this effective program has won numerous awards. These include awards from the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners, Texas Crime Prevention Association and the National Association of Town Watch. The Woodlands Watch has consistently placed in the top 10 communities in the National Night Out competition in their population category and many times in the top five communities.

At its core, The Woodlands Watch is proactive in nature. It is communication empowered by education that encourages residents to work closely with each other and public safety personnel to create a shared sense of community. If your neighborhood does not participate in this proactive program, contact The Woodlands Township at 281-210-3800 or

neighbor@thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov. The Township will provide you and your neighbors with the tools you need to get organized. We will be offering a drop-in event on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd. This is a great opportunity to learn more about The Woodlands Watch Program and other related programs.

Cochran’s Crossing

2013 was a busy and productive year for the Cochran’s Crossing Village Association. The board continued to be proactive in identifying concerns and answering questions from residents. Some of those issues included: ensuring the

standards residents of The Woodlands have come to expect are maintained; maintaining communications with the San Jacinto River Authority before, during, and after the water transmission project involving Research Forest and impacting the Cochran’s Crossing Village area; providing significant direction for the renovation of Shadowbend Park; dealing with transportation issues, review and comment on the Township budget; and supporting water conservation and mosquito eradication.

The Board had a positive relationship with elected representatives from the state, county and Township. There were monthly safety reports from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The Board was represented at the annual Safety Expo and promoted National Night Out to residents.

Other events supported by the Cochran’s Crossing Village Association included the 3R Bazaar/caps and corks, the annual community wide garage sale, 4th of July Parade, and The Woodlands Marathon. Activities sponsored, organized, and carried out by the association included the fall festival in October and the annual pool party. The festival benefitted from support from Kroger, The Woodlands and College Park Rotary Interact Clubs and Physicians ER. Physicians ER also provided first aid coverage at the pool party.

Through funds raised by its support of various projects and funding from the Township, the association was able to

provide scholarships to deserving high school students and grants to teachers to allow implementation of educational efforts that need supplemental finances.

Elections for village board positions will be held in February. Village board members for 2013 deserve recognition for their efforts in the past year. The 2013 village board included Stuart Schroeder, president; Brian Creighton, vice president; James Goldmeyer, treasurer; Gary Conwell, secretary; Mark Bacon, Kathryn Borchers, Ned Chapman, Mark Gjovik, Cynthia Kessinger, Larry Perry, Paul Perry, Stephen Perry, Dilyn Loveless, Gerald Raap, Lori Riley, Susan Tinsley, Dabney Wisenbaker, and CW Wallace. The board held regular meetings the fourth Tuesday of every month except December and October when the meeting was a week early to complete final preparation for the fall festival.

College Park

Hello to everyone from College Park! Our winter days are almost behind us, and spring is right around the corner. We always get a few months of rest with our lawns, and our water bills are lower. Our residents are always appreciated for the great maintenance they practice in keeping their yards looking great, no matter what time of year!

February, being the happy time of year with Valentine’s Day, is a wonderful time of year to show your loved ones how much you care. With the sun out, and nice crisp days, it is a great time to go on picnics at our community parks and enjoy being together with your family and friends.

Our annual Spring Fling will be coming around the corner. Please refer to our College Park Web site and newsletter for the date and time. If you would like to receive our newsletter, please contact one of our College Park village board

The children are in the middle of their spring school semester. Please be aware of our school speed zones and also when a school bus is stopping and letting our children off the bus.

Our monthly College Park meeting will be on the third Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd. Please come and attend one of our meetings and get involved in our community! We always have a function coming up that needs volunteers to represent our village. The College Park board members would appreciate the help in the future.

Keep safe, and be patient with our road construction. The flyover is looking good on S.H. 242! It is amazing how the construction workers on that project have done all of that work while minimally disrupting traffic. Kudos to all of their hard work!

Grogan’s Mill

We encourage all residents to become involved with what happens in your village. The election of Village Association Board members and representatives to the Residential Design Review Committees will be held on Saturday, February 15. Early voting will take place the week prior. Both early and election-day voting will take place at The Woodlands Township building, located at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd. For exact times and more information, please go to www. thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/election and choose the link for February 2014.

After the elections, check the Grogan’s Mill Web site at www.grogansmillvillage. com for village election results. Village candidate information will be posted there as well. We also encourage residents of Grogan’s Mill to attend our monthly meetings, held on the third Monday of the month, 6:30 p.m. at the Township Building,

2801 Technology Forest Blvd. Public comments and involvement in Grogan’s Mill activities are always welcome.

In early March, the Grogan’s Mill village board will meet for its annual planning retreat when the upcoming year’s programs and budget will be determined. We are always interested in what projects the residents suggest their board undertake each year. For instance, currently being considered for the 2014/2015 fiscal year is a neighborhood cul-de-sac revitalization program. Please submit suggestions and comments to vicepresident@gmva.org.

As with all our meetings, the planning retreat is open to all Grogan’s Mill residents. Please check our Web site for the specific date, time and location.

The Grogan’s Mill Farmer’s Market began its seventh year last month, again with a record number of vendors and continued growth in product quality and diversity. We also look forward to another record in the number of customers served. Be on the lookout for special children’s events and special theme days. If you’ve never been, come visit and see what you’ve been missing! To see details of each week’s featured vendors and products, be sure to sign up for the weekly e-blast on our Web site under the Farmer’s Market tab.

Profits from the market go to support Grogan’s Mill schools, the Interfaith Food Pantry, college scholarships for graduating Grogan’s Mill high school seniors, and other worthwhile community projects.

The Woodlands Township Wins Coveted Soccer Field of the Year Award

The Woodlands Township was recently honored with the prestigious Soccer Field of the Year award for Bear Branch Sports Field 7 by the Texas Turfgrass Association. Entries were judged based on their submitted photos and narrative description of the fields. Additionally, fields must be two years or older and under the continuous care of the entrant for at least two years. Bear Branch Sports Fields, located at 5205 Research Forest Drive, was built in 1993 with assistance of a grant through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Texas Local Parks, Recreation and Open Space Fund and USA Soccer. Bear Branch Sports Fields originally had six soccer fields, a concrete parking area, a covered pavilion and a small restroom facility. Expansion of the park in 1999 added a seventh field that included bleachers, field lights, a player bench area, a water-permeable parking area and a drinking fountain.

“The Woodlands Township Parks Operations Division takes great pride in having high quality turf. It is important for the field to be safe, playable and aesthetically pleasing for residents and park users,” said The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Director Chris Nunes. He attributes their overall success to well-planned, sound horticultural practices utilized by a devoted staff.

PREPARING YOUR LAWN FOR SPRING

A Message from The Woodlands Joint Powers Agency

Injust a few weeks, spring will be returning to The Woodlands. No, not the vernal equinox –that occurs on the evening of March 20. In Southeast Texas, spring occurs after the last frost. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the last frost date will happen sometime between February 19 and March 13. The Old Farmer’s Almanac, however, indicates that there is a 90 percent probability that the last frost date will be around February 28.

St. Augustine and Bermuda grass lawns are still dormant this time of year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take some positive actions to have healthy lawns in the coming warm months.

Apply An Organic, Pre-Emergence Herbicide

Corn gluten has been proven to be an effective pre-emergence herbicide. It’s organic, won’t harm your lawn, and will do a good job on preventing weed seeds from germinating. It generally comes in a granule form. Spread it on your lawn and water it in with a hose.

Get Your Soil Tested

Your soil may be depleted of the minerals necessary for turf grass to thrive. Get a soil test done. Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Soil, Water and Forage Testing Laboratory in College Station will conduct a soil test for around $20. Contact your local Extension office (936-539-7824) for more information. There are also private soil testing laboratories in the area.

Please remember that at this time, grass is still dormant. Your grass will begin to come out of full hibernation after the last frost date. Until it begins to green up, there is no need to water. After, begin watering only if needed, using no more than one inch per week.

Do Not Fertilize Yet

It’s far too early to fertilize your lawn. Fertilization now will only help weeds take hold. The same goes for compost. Wait until mid-spring to do these chores.

For more tips on lawns and water conservation, please visit www.wjpa.org

In this issue of The Woodlands Community Magazine, The Woodlands Community Emergency Response Team (twcert.com) brings you the Do One Thing (do1thing.com) topic for February – Water. Created by a team of professionals with extensive experience in emergency management, Do One Thing is a 12-month preparedness program that focuses on different areas of emergency preparedness each month. You can jump in anytime, and you don’t have to do things in any order. It’s as easy as this:

1. Read each month’s topic.

2. Select one of the easy “Things to do.”

3. Do that one thing!

This month, make sure that you have enough water on hand for your family to last at least three days (72 hours). This should be about three gallons per person.

Whether you live in the country or the city, your water supply relies on electricity to run the system. During a power outage, you may find yourself without a way to get water. Your water supply can also become unsafe to drink. Both private wells and city water systems can be contaminated in a disaster.

Choose one of the following things to do this month to become better prepared:

Purchase and store a 72-hour supply of commercially bottled water (or more – up to two weeks). A three-day supply for one person is three gallons of water (one gallon per person per day). Also include an extra one gallon for a medium size pet. That one gallon should last three days, but plan for more or less if your pet is very large or very small.

During an emergency, you should drink at least two quarts (one half gallon) of water a day. Drink three to four quarts a day if you are in a hot climate, pregnant, sick or a child. Some of the water in your emergency water supply will be used for cooking or washing.

If you buy commercially bottled water, it should be replaced once a year. Store your water in a cool, dark place to keep it tasting fresher longer.

Bottle a 72-hour supply of water at home. If you get your water from a municipal water system, there is no need to disinfect tap water before bottling.

Replace your water supply every six months if you bottle your own water. Always sanitize bottles before refilling them. Store your water in a cool, dark place.

Sanitize bottles before filling:

1. Wash containers with dishwashing soap and rinse with water.

2. Sanitize by washing a solution of 1 teaspoon of liquid household chlorine bleach to a quart of water on all interior surfaces of the container.

3. Let air dry for at least one minute

Use clear plastic bottles with tight sealing caps. Milk jugs don’t make good water storage containers. They don’t seal well, and water stored in them can sometimes develop a plastic taste. Only use bottles that originally had beverages in them (large plastic soft drink bottles work well).

Learn how to provide a safe supply of drinking water for your household in a disaster.

Water Heater

1. DO NOT use if the tank or fixtures have been submerged in floodwater!

2. Turn off the gas or electricity to water heater (turn off electricity at the fuse or breaker box, turn off gas by locating the valve supplying the hot water heater and turning the valve handle so that it crosses – is not lined up with – the gas line).

3. Turn off the water intake valve (should be located near the water heater).

4. Open the drain at the bottom of the tank.

5. Turn on a hot water faucet (water will drain from the tank, not the faucet).

Discard the first few gallons if they contain rust or sediment. Do not turn the gas or electricity back on until the tank is refilled.

Pipes

1. Turn off main water valve where the water comes into the house (usually near the water meter if you have city water).

2. Let air into the pipes by turning on the highest faucet in your house.

3. Get water from the lowest faucet in your house. Never get water from faucets that have been submerged in floodwater.

Ice

If you have freezer space, consider freezing part of your water supply. This has the added advantage of keeping food in the freezer cold longer during a power outage.

Eagles

Eagles Throughout the History of the United States

Featuring photography by Kathy Adams Clark, nature writer Gary Clark weaves the inspiring saga of Eagles Throughout the History of the United States, opening spring programming for Walk in the Woods Nature Lecture Series on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. at McCullough Junior High School, 3800 S. Panther Creek Drive.

Foraging up to 50 miles, a male Southern bald eagle soars overhead. The male provides food while his mate sits on the nest. After the eggs hatch, the female shares feeding duties.

Mr. Clark characterizes eagles as fiercely free bird–one of our nation’s most precious resources. “Eagles are engrained in our cultural heritage,” the naturalist notes. Majestic in flight, eagles have a wingspan of six to eight feet. “Seeing it is enough to take your breath away,” he said.

The speaker will share a glimpse of our local population of nesting eagles within the larger context of the bird’s amazing recovery from the brink of extinction. Removed from the endangered

species list in 2007, eagle populations are increasing at an encouraging rate in the state and nationwide.

For more than a decade, the Clarks have documented activities of a pair of eagles that nest on Lake Woodlands each winter. By late March, fledglings are typically sighted leaving the nest and spotted feeding over the lake. The pair may have reached the end of their natural reproductive life, according to Mr. Clark. Hopefully, their offspring will return from summering grounds along the lower Mississippi River to nest in The Woodlands, once again capturing the hearts and imaginations of residents and birders.

The free lecture is a program of The Woodlands Township with sponsorship by The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N., Hilton Garden Inn and Waste Management. For more information, please call 281-210-3800 or visit www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov.

What is R.A.D.? RAPE AGRESSION DEFENSE

TheR.A.D. Systems is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques. It is a comprehensive course for women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.

R.A.D. is not a martial arts program. The courses are taught by certified R.A.D. instructors and provide you with a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire physical defense program for reference and continuous personal growth. The R.A.D. System of Physical Defense is currently being taught at many colleges and universities. The growing, widespread acceptance of this system is primarily due to the ease, simplicity and effectiveness of the tactics, solid research, and unique teaching methodology.

The R.A.D. Systems is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault, by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics. The system of realistic defense will provide a woman with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance.

Why R.A.D.?

Approximately 85 percent of rape victims know their assailant. With more than 3,500 instructors certified and nearly 160,000 women trained, R.A.D. Systems is the country’s largest and fastest growing self-defense program for women and children.

R.A.D. is an international alliance of thousands of instructors united in offering practical options for responding to increasing acts of violence against women. The program offers life-long opportunity for physical skill mastery provided through the trademarked Lifetime Return and Practice Policy.

Where and when?

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office teaches these free self defense classes at 1520 Lake Front Circle Suite 900. To check the course schedule and sign up for an upcoming class, please visit The Woodlands Township Web site and look in the Action Guide for R.A.D.
