Dear Tricord Investor, The North Star moves in a small circle above the north celestial pole, and every other star in the Northern Hemisphere rotates around it. Because Polaris appears stationary in the night sky, seafarers can easily find true north by locating the North Star.

A key to successful navigation is fixed vectors that a traveler can use for guidance. Vectors are essential in navigation because they show the distance and direction of an object from a particular point. The same principles can be used to navigate your financial journey.

There are four questions that I have found helpful in navigating the world of investment. I use them as the constants and vectors in understanding the investment opportunities that come my way.

1. How do I get my money back? I need to understand how the investment works. If it is too complicated for me to understand, or doesn’t make sense, then I should probably avoid it. Things that sound too good to be true probably are, and get rich quick schemes usually do not pan out.

2. When do I get my money back? I must understand how long my money will be tied up. The time value of money plays a factor in any investment. Because money loses its value over time, the yield and return on my investment must outpace inflation and other factors that make it worthwhile or sensible.

3. What can go wrong? I must understand the risks involved. Every investment has a risk, but some require more risk than others. I understand the saying highrisk means high rewards; however, I must know if the money I am risking is money I can afford to lose. So, I want to mitigate my investment risk through diversification and negative correlation.

4. Can I walk away from this investment? Learning to say no can be just as valuable as learning to say yes. The minute I feel I cannot walk away from a deal or opportunity is the minute the investment starts driving me instead of me driving it.

Classes That Produce Results Kyosimire Glorious’ life is an example of one such transformation by Tricord Global’s approach to lending and educating. Her business grew after she received a loan and took classes with Tricord/GloTrans. She started with $57 in capital and has now increased her working capital to $849. Through her experience, Glorious was able to develop a plan for her loan and expand her business.

Another success story comes from Mwebe Bumbakali. He is a motorcycle taxi driver who used a loan to repair his motorcycle.
