Second Group 1 for Dundee Osprey in Top Gun By GRV Website Dundee Osprey has won the 2016 Group 1 Sky Racing Topgun (525m) at The Meadows tonight, with biggest win of his career. The $215,000 race went to script for the powerful greyhound, as he got a dream run into the first corner and settled in third position behind pacy duo Aston Bolero ($7.70) and Pantera Nera ($3.20). From there Dundee Osprey (Fabregas – Dundee Rose) was always going to be hard to beat, and he proved too strong winning by three lengths over Aston Bolero, with Pantera Nera third in 29.99sec. On a wet night at The Meadows, Dundee Osprey paid $7.30 for the win, leaving hobby trainer Geoff Scott- Smith in disbelief. “To get an invite into this race was a big thrill. And to win it is something beyond my wildest dreams,” Scott- Smith said after Dundee Osprey scored his 14th win from 33 starts, with the $150,000 first prize taking his career earnings up to $345,000. In the lead up to the race, the Pakenham South trainer had little confidence about his greyhound’s chances. “He’ll have a huge task to keep in touch with the

leaders,” he warned punters. “Although he has matured into a really nice race dog and his last 200 metres is super strong.” Scott-Smith was a little known breeder-trainer until he bred and raced Dundee Osprey, with the greyhound winning the Group 1 Harrison-Dawson, the prestigious Speed Star at Sandown Park, and now he has a Group 1 win to his name at The Meadows as well. It takes an exceptional greyhound to win at Group 1 level on both of Victoria’s city tracks, and Dundee Osprey is certainly that. (Topgun Stayers report on page 11 )
