Collision litter THIS week’s review of litters selected from the Victorian Litter Registrations list starts with a nice litter of eight pups by perennial stud success, Collision (August 2001 Awesome Assassin x Rumble Spirit).

Registered by Wangaratta South breeder, Michael Hurley, the six dogs and two bitches are from the well bred bitch, Nancy May (February 2013 Spring Gun x Diamond Series), whose dam is by Brett Lee x Hot Treasure (Black Shiraz x Blue Bank).

She is from a litter which included, Diamond Dancer, Disco Diamond, Katey’s Gem, Mick Rydian, Spring Diamond, Spring Series, Winton Burn and Your Deal.

On the track she didn’t do all that much racing, with just 28 starts, from which she recorder three wins and 14 placings.

She won twice over 450 metres at Shepparton (25.63, 25.69) and also won over 425 metres at Bendigo (24.35).

She has one previous litter on file, with five dogs and three bitches, whelped in September 2017, by Pure Octane.

By Andrew Copley Being drawn for the number one box at a big cup meet would be pretty good news for most trainers but that’s not the view of Gippsland couple Ian and Maureen Brown whose greyhound, Wears Woodleigh, is running in the $67,000 Cranbourne Cup final (520m) this Saturday night.

“We were actually hoping he’d be drawn for box eight rather than one because he’s been running best from the outside boxes, right from his first race which he won from box eight. He’s a young dog and still learning and he likes to get out from the field and have a bit of a look around before making his move,” Maureen said.

Greyhounds in the home Megan Goldsworthy - Hey everyone!

So I’ve had my girl Tiger for about 9 months now, no matter how many treats I’ve given or encouragement I have tried she has refused to leave the kitchen / lounge area and walk down the hall way.

I had long given up on trying to get her into the bedroom with me at the end of the hallway as she got too distressed if I picked her up or tried to push her.

Last night at about midnight what do I see but a long nose sniffing in my bedroom? Next comes the very shakey Miss Moo. She looks around and sniffs for a Peter Colloff -Officially adopted and passed her assessment, so while, (I’m staring at her in disbelief wondering if she’s proud of our little girl. possessed) and then she jumps on the bed and fell asleep) now I’m very happy with her sleeping on my bed just so confused! http://www.facebook.com/groups/144096608971567/

I just got a happy reply from Lissie's former owners after I sent them a 1 year update with lots of pictures. Last year they sent me one of her racing photos, which was great to see.

But irrespective of where you live be mindful when walking your greyhounds that they may take some time to adjust to the heat Greyhounds traditionally don’t like walking in temperatures above 25 degrees so:      



Ditch the coats Keep the walks shorter until they adjust Walk earlier in cooler temperatures Watch for signs of distress Keep your dogs hydrated and Make sure they have water immediately they get home And watch out for snakes in long grass because they are active.
