Industry Event maintenance mania

UIP was well-represented at AOBA's 2023 Mainte Mania event. Held in Chantilly, Virginia, on April 2 annual event was attended by some of our very o dedicated and talented maintenance teams. Our team took turns learning, competing, and net with their peers at this full-day program. The day with demos, courses, expert talks, and advice on the most beneficial certifications and training clas available.

It was also a day of appreciation, and we can't say thank you enough to those who participated, but also to all of our service techs, maintenance professionals, and all who help keep our residents comfortable in their apartments by providing superior and quick service whenever asked, day or night.

A Strike for Brookland Lanes

Last month, our Brookland Lanes project received its critical historic entitlement with unanimous support from the approving board.

Located in the Northeast neighborhood of Brookland, off Rhode Island Avenue, the 337-unit apartment project will adaptively incorporate a historic bowling alley from the 1950s into the design.

Kudos to the Development Team! They're now able to hand the project over to our Construction division, queued to begin in late 2024.

Rendering of the Brookland Lanes redevelopment.

The 1950's bowling alley facade can be seen to the right of the mid-rise building.

There's more to know!

This Earth Day, The Millennium gets straight 'A's thanks to their bees.

Earth Day, held every April 22nd since 1970, is widely recognized as the largest secular observance in the world, marked by more than a billion people every year as a day of action to shape human behavior and create global, national, and local policy changes.

The Millennium at National Landing took the 2023 EarthDay.org Biodiversity Campaign challenge. They've been partnering with Alveole, an urban-beekeeping company, to reintroduce pollinators, a critical but increasingly missing part of the urban greenspace, into cities across the country.

Learn more about Earth Day Initiatives on Earthday.org.

Additional information about Alveole can be found on their website at alveole.buzz.

Hoping to also counter the recent Colony Collapse Disorder phenomenon, Alveole explains that these docile, non-territorial honey bees make great use of an otherwise unused patch of rooftop, with residents able to purchase products featuring their hive's honey!
