This past June, we piloted our program on Rikers Island, working with young, ages 18-21. Two distinguished teaching artists spent five days with these 10 young men, and collected stories about their experiences prior to being held on Rikers. This gave these young men an outlet to express their feelings, concern and anger in a meaningful way. On the last day, we were fortunate enough to observe their final presentation in which these young men bravely shared their stories with their peers. Check out the book they created here.
