There is no place like The Town Hall. Founded “to promote good citizenship, social justice and general enlightenment through the education and expression of public opinion,” our hall’s world-class acoustics quickly became a calling card, and for over a century, playing The Town Hall stage continues to be a ‘must’ for musicians and singers from all genres and backgrounds.

Whether visiting our storied auditorium for the first time, or returning to experience yet another great night live on our stage, you can feel the vitality in the room. The Town Hall is truly contemporary; purpose-built to open its doors to art, ideas and especially to you.

Ten years ago, the Tokyo Ghoul anime launched the story of Ken Kaneki into global pop consciousness. Following the blockbuster success of Sui Ishida’s Tokyo Ghoul manga, the anime series brought the darkly philosophical story of Kaneki to a wider audience. Starting from its first episode, the music of Tokyo Ghoul proved to be intrinsic to the world-building of an alternate universe where humans and ghouls co-exist, albeit violently. Composer Yutaka Yamada’s lush, sweeping ballads and ominously percussive score have made the Tokyo Ghoul soundtrack one of the most influential anime recordings of the last decade.

The Sinfonietta is a global network of all-women orchestras renowned for reimagining the music of popular culture in a symphonic setting, and is thrilled to be in Residency here at The Town Hall for the 20252026 season.
The Sinfonietta was founded in 2020 by EgyptianAmerican Orchestrator Macy Schmidt (Forbes 30 Under 30 recipient). Since teaming up with Colleen McCormack, the orchestra has been presented by Carnegie Hall, signed with Sony Masterworks, and has created international satellite Sinfoniettas from Los Angeles to Shanghai and beyond. In 2023, The Sinfonietta created an all-Arab women orchestra for the Forbes International Women’s Day Gala honoring world leaders Hillary Rodham Clinton, Gloria Steinem, Malala Yousafzai, Billie Jean King, and Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska. The orchestra has collaborated with pop stars such as Renée Rapp, Laufey, Brandy and Jordin Sparks; presented live score events such as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (World Premiere, 70+ city national tour), Cowboy Bebop (World Premiere), and Avatar: The Last Airbender ; and even onstage as featured soloists for the opening number of the 2023 Tony Awards. In 2024, The Sinfonietta began a partnership with Mattel and Warner Bros. Pictures to develop Barbie The Movie: In Concert After its premiere at the Hollywood Bowl, the program has since played on three continents, from the Royal Albert Hall to a tour of China.
As a production company, the Sinfonietta has partnered with brands such as Condé Nast, HSBC, Microsoft, Bloomingdale’s, MAC Cosmetics, and The Atlantic Magazine to create original commissioned content. The Sinfonietta’s management division has worked with clients such as Louis Vuitton and the United Nations. Since inception, the Sinfonietta has been featured in outlets such as NBC, CBS, Rolling Stone, BuzzFeed, Forbes, TIME, TeenVogue, Elle Magazine, The Washington Post, The Today Show, and more.

A first-generation Egyptian-American, Macy Schmidt has forged an unprecedented career as both a businesswoman and a creative. By the age of 27, she has already been named a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, collected her first Tony Award as a Broadway co-producer, and conducted her own all-women orchestra, The Sinfonietta, headlining venues such as the Hollywood Bowl and Royal Albert Hall. In 2024, Macy established Overture Global Entertainment, a production company specializing in film concerts. She launched the company with major studio partnerships, including Mattel Inc. and Warner Bros. Pictures.
Macy made history as the first woman arranger or orchestrator to create a Tony Awards Opening Number, is the first and only woman-of-color Broadway orchestrator for her contributions to the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Kimberly Akimbo and created a custom musical piece for permanent exhibition at The Museum of Broadway. Beyond Broadway, Macy was commissioned by The Walt Disney Company to create, arrange, and orchestrate the company’s 100th Anniversary Overture.
Her career highlights include performing for both the 9/11 20th Anniversary Presidential Memorial Program and the 2024 Pioneer of the Year gala honoring Greta Gerwig, supervising entertainment for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and on behalf of Forbers, was selected for a 1-on-1 mentorship in Abu Dhabi with Secretary Hillary Clinton.
Beyond entertainment, Macy has consulted across industries, from advising TikTok’s corporate leadership to cryptocurrency firms and private equity funds, and has worked extensively in the UK, China, the Middle East, and India. Macy continues to shape the future of live music and entertainment on a global scale as an artist, a businesswoman, and an advocate for women in entertainment. She is represented by CAA and ATC LiveX.
Scholar and musician Jillian Grace is deeply passionate about Black American Music. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Jazz Voice Performance from Howard University in 2018 and was a member of the premier vocal Jazz group Afro Blue. In 2022, Grace received her Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music, with a focus consistent with her undergraduate studies.
In 2024, Grace was named a semifinalist in New Music’s Next Jazz Legacy program. In 2025, she was a contributing writer to The New York Times’ “Five Minutes That Will Make You Love Blue Note Records.” She currently serves as an adjunct professor at Iona University, where she was awarded the 2025 Adjunct Faculty Award.
Today, Grace thrives at the intersection of music and academia. Her collaborations with Damien Sneed, New Jazz Underground, The Soapbox Presents, Joy Guidry, and many more have further solidified her as a force to be reckoned with. Jillian is based in Brooklyn, New York.

At The Town Hall, daring isn’t just about rebellion—it’s about invitation. An invitation to express. To connect. To belong. How dare we? We always have. And we’re just getting started.

Town Hall has played an integral part in the electrifying cultural fabric of New York City for more than 100 years. A group of suffragists’ fight for the 19th Amendment led them to build a meeting space to educate people on the important issues of the day. During its construction, the 19th Amendment was passed, and on January 12, 1921, The Town Hall opened its doors and took on a double meaning: as a symbol of the victory won by its founders, and as a spark for a new, more optimistic climate. Upon its dedication in 1921, The League for Political Education opened the building you are now sitting in with the watchwords:
“It does not matter who you are, what you are, or from where you come, you are welcome.”
That year, German composer Richard Strauss performed a series of concerts that cemented the Hall’s reputation as an ideal venue for musical performances. Since, Town Hall has been home to countless musical milestones: the US debuts of Strauss and Isaac Stern; Marian Anderson’s first New York recital; in 1945, Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker introduced bebop to the world; Bob Dylan’s first major concert in ‘63; and much, much more
