FASHION Paris Fashion Week 2021

Paris Fashion Week goes totally digital in 2021, similar to many iconic events across the globe. Whilst the audience-free format may seem disappointing, the credibility and atmosphere of fashion shows has never relied on the audience. The beauty of them is that, nine times out of ten, the audience has been dissolved into complete awe and, whilst anything is more tangibly sensational in real life, when the art being presented is as meticulous and original as that of the outfits of Paris Fashion Week, the experience is just as credible over a screen.

March 1 unnoticed, it is more successful than ever in 2021 with their jewellery becoming a global need for men and women, a perfect example of the exposure that Paris Fashion Week provides for brands. Hip cut-outs have been part of the trend cycle for a few years now, but what makes the idea of showing a little skin all the more exciting for next spring is that, in a Zoom world, everyday attire no longer has to be solely practical. Fun little slivers of back or upper thigh will never be visible via Zoom.

Inevitably, the runway has had to be reinvented for the pandemic era. Celebrities are virtually positioned in the front row as they would have been in real life, with their video images filling the side lines of the runways as the models saunter past. The brands themselves, as part of the production industry, still have license to craft the shows in real life with models taking to the runway in an attempt to showcase the artwork in its most realistic form. We hope for the return of audiences not too far in the future when looks will most likely have adopted some of the lockdown fashion we have all been styling daily!
