He quickly came to the fore in many South Midland Centre events and progressed to doing National trials. He was a very determined rider and this helped when he went onto enduros, I know his sponsor Jim Jones always thought of him as a good solid rider and he had some good rides on the Gori. Later he went onto car rallying (very expensive)! I was lucky to have a friend like him though we did have some "grumpy moments"! He still rides a bike when he is in his holiday home in Canada.
