THE GLENN GOULD SCHOOL

We gratefully acknowledge the support of our public funders
The Glenn Gould School is supported by funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Canadian Arts Training Fund
The Glenn Gould School is supported by a grant from the Ontario Arts Council
This institution has been granted a consent by the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities to offer this program for a seven-year term starting October 12, 2017. Prospective students are responsible for satisfying themselves that the program and the degree will be appropriate to their needs (e.g., acceptable to potential employers, professional licensing bodies or other educational institutions).

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
THE ROYAL CONSERVATORY has a rich 138-year history of training and mentoring Canada’s most gifted performing artists, including Glenn Gould, Teresa Stratas, Oscar Peterson, Angela Hewitt, Isabel Bayrakdarian, Jan Lisiecki, and many more.
This legacy was renewed with the founding of The Glenn Gould School (GGS) in 1997. Now entering into its 28th year, GGS alumni, representing over 30 countries and every Canadian province, grace the stages of the leading symphony, opera, and recital halls throughout Canada and around the world.
If accepted, students choose to attend GGS for a myriad of important reasons. Toronto, for example, provides a culturally rich and diverse community in which to grow as an artist; The Royal Conservatory’s facilities, including the jewel-box Koerner Hall, provide the perfect stage from which our students learn how to communicate and connect with an appreciative audience; and our growing group of philanthropic partners, members of the audience itself, choose to provide scholarship support for GGS students, thus ensuring that our immensely talented graduates can embark upon a life serving music without accrued financial hardship.
When choosing a music school, nothing is more important, however, than finding
the right teacher. Those on the GGS faculty roster represent some of the finest pianists, instrumentalists, and singers in classical music education and performance. More importantly, this remarkable group of pedagogues, led by Dean James Anagnoson, are able to guide their students towards achieving excellence and beauty in a remarkably kind and nurturing environment. This, like many other aspects of The Royal Conservatory, makes GGS strikingly unique.
We have an exciting year of music ahead, my first as Michael and Sonja Koerner President & CEO. I encourage you to attend as many concerts, recitals, and master classes as you can, the vast majority of which are free. I know that you will come away from these performances inspired by the remarkable artistry of our students and convinced that the future for classical music—and indeed humanity— is bright.
Thank you for being here!

Alexander Brose Michael and Sonja Koerner President & CEO The Royal Conservatory

A MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN
THE GLENN GOULD SCHOOL (GGS) has in its short history become internationally recognized as one of the finest performance training schools in the world. In the 202425 academic year we will offer the same inspiring performances and outstanding level of instruction that we have become known for.
We are a small school – a total of only 131 students – and this enables us to fully support each individual in their artistic goals and ambitions. The TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning is a magnificent facility and provides for our students the opportunity to perform in Koerner Hall, one of the greatest concert halls in the world, as well as access to state-ofthe-art studios for lessons, rehearsals, and practice. In addition, the historic Ihnatowycz Hall offers our students the intimacy of the 237-seat acoustically beautiful Mazzoleni Hall, as well as many additional studios and classrooms.
This year, GGS students will again offer four exciting Royal Conservatory Orchestra concerts, as well as Fall and Spring Operas, and numerous chamber music and solo instrumental performances.
The GGS faculty is amongst the finest in the world and includes the newly appointed Ihnatowycz Chair in Piano Jeremy Denk, Vocal Chair Adrianne Pieczonka, and legendary pedagogues such as cellist Hans Jørgen Jensen and violinist Paul Kantor. Additionally, GGS students have the privilege of performing on numerous occasions for distinguished international artists in one of the finest master class programs offered by any
school in the world. GGS presents more than 125 master classes annually, and each visiting artist brings a remarkably unique interpretive perspective. The opportunity to perform for such an array of artists enables our students to expand their musical horizons in ways they had never imagined.
It is my distinct pleasure to introduce to you in the following pages our gifted students for the 2024-25 academic year. You will find named full-tuition scholarships under the photos of their recipients. We have also highlighted those generous donors who have made leadership gifts to support specific programs. Scholarship and program support at every level makes a difference, and we gratefully acknowledge all our donors – your generosity is appreciated more than ever.
I am extremely proud of the training and support we provide to our students and believe that the outstanding performances you will experience this year underscore how The Glenn Gould School has established itself as one of the finest institutions in the world in nurturing and developing the artistic voices of exceptional young artists.
Many thanks again for all that you make possible through your ongoing support.

THE 2024-25 REBANKS FELLOWS

THE REBANKS FAMILY FELLOWSHIP AND
INTERNATIONAL
PERFORMANCE RESIDENCY PROGRAM
The Rebanks Family Fellowship and International Performance Residency Program at The Royal Conservatory’s Glenn Gould School is the only program of its kind in Canada, offering a rich curriculum for career development.
Alumni of the program grace the world’s great stages, including Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall and Koerner Hall, perform with major orchestras in Canada and abroad, and are members of leading chamber ensembles such as the ARC Ensemble and the Rolston String Quartet.
Since 2013, The Rebanks Family Fellowship Program has launched the successful professional careers of many extraordinary young artists who have completed their formal training. The program includes private study with exceptional faculty and guest artists, performance opportunities, career coaching, and marketing training.
In addition, each Rebanks Fellow participates in a funded international residency, providing performance opportunities and artistic training with the goal of strategically expanding their professional outlook and network.
The Royal Conservatory is grateful to the Rebanks Family and the Weston Family Foundation who have been invaluable supporters of this innovative program.
