December 7, 2024 INTERNATIONAL ORCHESTRA SERIES

“Music can name the unnamable and communicate the unknowable.”
- LEONARD BERNSTEIN
A bold new initiative
Orchestral music is one of the greatest achievements of human creativity. The extraordinary works created over centuries for the orchestra remain as vital, inspiring and meaningful as ever to billions of people in the world. The great orchestras of the world, led by esteemed conductors, offer extraordinary sonic experiences, and celebrate our human emotions.
In winter 2023, The Royal Conservatory launched The International Orchestra Series in Toronto, presenting leading international orchestras annually in its iconic Koerner Hall.
The International Orchestra Series:
• Celebrates the universality of music as it crosses social, political, and language barriers
• Inspires and enriches the cultural landscape for Torontonians
• Provides a unique cultural experience for annual visitors to Toronto
This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a historic cultural initiative. As a supporter of these concerts, you will be a pivotal force behind bringing these extraordinary performers to Toronto.

Expanding the impact
To support The Royal Conservatory’s commitment to music education, where possible, members of the visiting orchestra will offer master classes or another education opportunity to students of The Glenn Gould School, our post-secondary professional music training institution.

Each educational opportunity will offer a unique experience for students, members of the public, and donors to see how a virtuoso performer can help to infuse a student’s performance with texture, nuance, emotion, and technical skill.
This is an exceptional learning opportunity:
• They replicate a high-pressure environment, helping prepare students for auditions and competitions
• Students receive coaching from respected practitioners who fine-tune a performance and bring it up to a professional level
• Exposing students to different perspectives and approaches informs and improves their artistry and creative development
• Playing for a master class artist gives a student an opportunity to build their personal reputation and grow their network among influential artists and teachers
• An artist coaches three or four students in each master class, with many more in attendance, resulting in a multifaceted and rich learning experience.
Extraordinary orchestral experiences
Through the International Orchestra Series, The Royal Conservatory’s goal is to provide Torontonians, and the city’s visitors, the rare opportunity to see legendary orchestras in the superior acoustics of Koerner Hall.
