COMMUNITY NEWS County of Brant names Darryl Lee as Chief Executive Officer of Brant Municipal Enterprises County of Brant, ON – The County of Brant is pleased to announce that Darryl Lee will be appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Brant Municipal Enterprises (BME) starting January 2024. “We are grateful for the return of Darryl to the County of Brant as the Chief Executive Officer of Brant Municipal Enterprises,” said Alison Newton, Chief Administrative Officer for the County of Brant. “Darryl brings extensive municipal experience and knowledge, and we look forward to watching his successes grow.” Darryl Lee, a resident of Paris, Ontario, has 33 years in public service and an impressive background in municipal government holding managerial positions at the City of Hamilton and ultimately the Chief Administrative Officer position at the

City of Brantford. In 2022, he was appointed as the Interim Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the County of Brant to assist in the recruitment for a permanent Chief Administrative Officer. “As the Chair of the Board of Directors for Brant Municipal Enterprises I look forward to having Darryl leading the helm,” said County of Brant Mayor David Bailey. “Darryl earned the trust and respect of County of Brant Council throughout his tenure as Interim Chief Administrative Officer, and we are excited to see what the future holds for him with Brant Municipal Enterprises.” Brant Municipal Enterprises Inc. is an incorporated, County of Brant owned corporation with a primary focus on

generating new revenues for the County of Brant while adding economic and social value to the community. Brant Municipal Enterprises focuses on renewable energy development and real estate. “As we welcome Mr. Lee, I would also like to thank our Acting Chief Executive Officer of Brant Municipal Enterprises, Adam Crozier,” said Newton. “Adam was appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer on June 5, 2023 as recruitment for the CEO began. He will return to his position as Director of Corporate Strategy for the County of Brant.” Mr. Lee was appointed by County of Brant Council on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. He will officially begin his role on January 2, 2024.

Brant joins fight to end gender-based violence On November 29th the County of Brant raised the Wrapped in Courage flag to show support and bring awareness to end gender-based violence in our community. The Wrapped in Courage campaign has adopted the purple scarf as its symbol. This week, County of Brant Council voted unanimously to declare gender-based violence and/or intimate partner violence an epidemic and to demand action from all levels of government. Councillor Jennifer Kyle brought forward the recommendation, noting more than 72 municipalities and regions across Ontario have declared this an epidemic. Members of Nova Vita Brant, County of Brant Council and the public attended the flag-raising to show support for this important issue in our community. County of Brant Photo
