H E A LT H C A R E N E W S Healthcare Foundation's annual Read4BCHS event celebrates 5 years of raising funds for pediatric care MEDIA RELEASE - The Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) Foundation launches its fifth annual Read4BCHS event, a fundraiser in support of local pediatric care, on February 5th, 2024. “Over the past four years, with the support of our sponsors, readers and donors, we have raised over $100,000 to benefit the care of the youngest patients at the Brant Community Healthcare System” says Dr. Lee Ferrao, BCHS Foundation Board Chair. "These funds have helped to purchase pediatric equipment and renovate the Pediatric Acute Referral Service (PARS) Clinic at the Brantford General Hospital, which sees over 3,000 visits annually."

“The BCHS Foundation is truly fortunate to have the James F. Boughner Foundation as a continuing matching sponsor for the event" notes Kari Wilson, Executive Director of the BCHS Foundation. "This means that every dollar you donate to Read4BCHS has twice the impact.” The event runs from February 5th through 25th, 2024 and participants are asked to sign up online, collect pledges and commit to read for an amount of time, chosen by the individual participant or team. The BCHU Foundation Communications department confirmed that by mid week, only days after launching the campaign, reader-risers have already achieved close to $1,400.

Do you want to participate in this year’s Read4BCHS event? All individuals and teams that log a minimum of 10 books read will be entered into a random draw to win an Apple iPad 9th Gen, 64 GB of storage (retail value of $450). The Top Fundraising Team will win the grand prize - a Daily Physical Activity deluxe playground equipment package (retail value of $1,070). Thanks to the generous support of the James F. Boughner Foundation, all donations to Read4BCHS will be matched up to $10,000!
