Hope for Healthcare surpasses its goal, raises $348,000 in support of medical equipment for new Emergency Department at BGH

MEDIA RELEASE - Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) Foundation is thrilled to announce that the Hope for Healthcare holiday campaign has surpassed its goal and raised over $348,000 for our local healthcare system.

Kari Wilson, Executive Director of the BCHS Foundation says “we are incredibly appreciative of our donors and for donations of all denominations that help us continue to invest together to reimagine health care in our community We are exceptionally grateful to all our supporters; it is our donors that make such a difference to our health care system.”

The funds raised as part of the Hope for Healthcare campaign will support the purchase of medical equipment to benefit the Emergency Department at the Brantford General.

The ED Renovation Improvement Project is a 25,295 square foot interior and exterior renovation of the existing Emergency Department at the Brantford General.

Construction is now underwayand will take approximately 3.5 years to complete (Early 2027)

This project includes adding nearly 10,000 sq. ft. of new space with a new walk-in entrance; renovation of patient entry, waiting, triage and registration areas; renovation of the Extended Stay Area; development of a new See and Treat area and the addition of an Indigenous family room. “We are thrilled with the campaign’s success thanks to the generosity of our community, including our matching Hope for Healthcare donor Mott Manufacturing who contributed an incredible $100,000”, says Wilson.

Mott Manufacturing is a provider of laboratory furnishing solutions, celebrating 60 years of business in this community. The company caters to industrial, pharmaceutical, curriculum, healthcare and other sectors “Mott Manufacturing is proud to give back to the communities we serve and support this year’s holiday appeal by matching donations dollar for dollar up to $100,000,” said Ed Seegmiller, CEO of Mott Manufacturing when the matching partnership was first announced last November. “Our company believes in the importance of a strong local healthcare system for our community, available when our employees and families need it most.”

Redevelopment of the ED will cost more than $25 million and the BCHS Foundation must pay 10% of the construction costs, in addition to all the medical equipment, furnishings and fixtures that are not covered, or cost shared by the Ministry of Health. The 2023 Hope for Healthcare Campaign focused on raising funds for medical equipment such as vital signs monitors, infusion pumps, stretchers, portable ultrasounds and more. We are grateful to all our donors as they support this critical equipment to provide care to the community’s served at the BCHS. Over 58,000 people from our community and surrounding areas need the ED annually and an investment in this space and new patient equipment is required to serve our rapidly growing patient population
