Lyn Crighton
We might say that Lake Tippecanoe runs through Lyn Crighton’s blood— because, well, it does. The executive director of The Watershed Foundation for the past 15 years has been surrounding herself by all-things-water all her life. Her parents met on Tippy as teenagers, and they raised Lyn right where they fell in love. The lake. Yes, Lyn’s childhood summers were on the lake, where her grandpa taught her to waterski at the young age of just five years old. As a teen, Saturday night hangouts were at Tippy Dance Hall, her first job was as a lifeguard at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club at age 15—and she’d drive the boat to work. Later, she met her husband at the lake—and was married at the lake. And the wedding guest dress code? Why, bathing suit casual, of course! Lake life and Lyn Crighton are rather synonymous, as waters center her mind, body, heart, and soul. So, the dream of working to protect the lakes in her community led her to a Master’s degree in Water Resources Management from Indiana University. And her dreams came to full fruition when hired as the executive director of The Watershed Foundation. When not busily protecting the waters she loves, she’s likely found on the water—whether water skiing at sunrise, kayaking, paddle boarding, or soaking in the sun with friends + family.
