The Out-of-Door Academy nurtures learners to be their best selves through impactful, challenging, and purposeful growth experiences in a supportive and unique environment.
Our Vision
Preparing growth-minded individuals who thrive in an ever-changing world.
Each year, I am deeply moved by the generosity, trust, and hope that shine through the pages of our Gratitude Report. As leadership author John Maxwell reminds us, “When you make a commitment, you create hope. When you keep a commitment, you create trust.” Your commitment to Out-of-Door creates both—and it is felt in every classroom, on every stage, and across every field where our students learn and grow.
The ODA Fund is far more than a fundraising effort—it is a powerful reflection of your belief in our mission. Because of you, our students are discovering their passions, building their confidence, and preparing for lives filled with purpose and meaning. Your support fuels their opportunities and opens doors to experiences that will shape them for a lifetime.
Within these pages, you’ll see more than names on a list. You’ll find stories, photos, and reflections of the generosity and spirit that carried us through the 2024–2025 school year. Together, we are writing the next chapter in ODA’s philanthropy story, one that celebrates not only today’s successes but the boundless potential of tomorrow.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in our school and in the bright futures of the students we serve. Your loyalty and vision ensure that Out-of-Door continues to be a place where young people are inspired, challenged, and supported as they grow into who they are meant to be.
With gratitude,

Closing the Gap: Understanding The ODA Fund and Its Impact
The cost of providing a unique and world-class education continues to rise. We are committed to offering our educators competitive salaries, providing necessary raises, and maintaining financial assistance to ensure an Out-of-Door education remains accessible and inclusive.
As an independent 501(c)(3) school, Out-of-Door relies on the generosity of our community to support our annual operational costs. But why don’t tuition payments alone cover the full expense of providing an exceptional education? The answer lies in the financial model that has sustained leading independent schools, colleges, and universities for centuries. This is where the Annual Fund plays a vital role. Tuition alone does not cover the full cost of an Out-of-Door education. While the exact gap varies by grade level, on average for the 2024–2025 school year it amounts to about $3,000 per student. The Annual Fund helps bridge this difference, ensuring we can fully fund the operating budget that sustains the quality of education our students receive. Thanks to your philanthropic support, you helped close this gap.
The annual fund, known as The ODA Fund, supports essential expenses such as:
• A wide range of enriching projects, programs, and experiences for our students and educators
• Extracurricular (arts and athletic) supplies and equipment
• Enhanced campus security
• Cutting-edge STEM curriculum
• Educator professional development
• Field trips and student leadership initiatives
• Advanced technology resources
All Banyan Ball net proceeds support the Annual Fund.
Philanthropic gifts to support The ODA Fund are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. For any questions, please contact Denise Aberle at 941-554-3405 or daberle@oda.edu.

Banyan Ball: The Future is Bright
The Out-of-Door Academy wrapped up its centennial celebration with the highly anticipated 2025 Banyan Ball. As our largest event-based fundraiser of the year, this special evening supports The ODA Fund and makes a direct impact on the student experience.
This unforgettable evening took place under the stars at Thunder Stadium on the Uihlein Campus in Lakewood Ranch. With the inspiring theme, “The Future is Bright,” Banyan Ball honored ODA’s enduring legacy while embracing its vision for the next century, one defined by innovation, tradition, and student success.
Through the generosity of our attendees, sponsors, and donors, Banyan Ball raised an astounding $260,000.
