Public Security Peace Officers play an important role too Rachel Farr Communications Coordinator Town of Vegreville Municipal Enforcement Services has a strong relationship with the RCMP and both divisions work collectively out of the Southridge Emergency Services Building. Okotoks Peace Officers are responsible for the enforcement of Town Bylaws and also have the authority to enforce traffic offenses as well as many other Provincial Acts and Regulations. A Public Security Peace Officer is a person who works to uphold and enforce certain laws and regulations in Alberta. They are not to be confused with Police Officers, who have a much wider range of authority; however, Peace Officers do have the power to arrest if the offense being committed is in contravention of an Act that permits arrest and the Act is a part of the Peace Officer’s appointment. Peace Officers also have the authority to enforce an outstanding Warrant for Arrest issued by the Courts.
