Grand National jockey in fall
The risks associated with horse racing were brought sharply into focus over the weekend when Grand National winning jockey Ryan Mania was hospitalised after a fall at Hexham on Sunday. The 23-year-old won Britain’s big race, The Grand National at Aintree on Saturday, on the Sue Smith trained Aurora’s Encore, but he wasn’t so lucky on Sunday when his horse went down on the final circuit.
Mania, who was airlifted from the racecourse by helicopter, is understood to have received a kick between the shoulder blades as well as neck and back injuries, but he was described as stable and suggested on Twitter he was expecting to leave hospital following precautionary scans. written by Vic Gardner
Still missing
Detectives, who are still looking for missing British man Robert Golden, have launched a website to hopefully assist them with their enquiries – the website www.findrobert.com has more details and appeals in both English and Spanish.
Robert Golden from Shorham was last seen in Sevilla when he arrived from England by plane for a holiday on the 5th November 2012 but failed to return on the 23rd. There have been four possible sightings since then, but no progress with the search. His family continue to remain very concerned for his welfare. Very fond of walking and hiking Robert is
considered to be very approachable and friendly.
