NOTES December was a chill month for Monrovia.

Starting off with the December ice skating DCM with an amazing amount of Monrovia attendees. Over winter break, we ran Charity Miles for a week where members could participate in cardio activity such as walking to earn money for charity thorugh the app. To show our appreciation, we offered service hours for thier time and dedication to supporting non-profits. As we jump into the new year with Key Club, we ask our members to stay active and look out for more events!

Hey Key Club peeps! December was an exciting yet hectic month as well as the last month of the year 2023. There were many fun filled events as well as volunteering opportunities in the month of December that many key clubbers attended. Finals for the first semester were completed and I ended with all A so that’s good for me. I enjoyed winter break with family and friends. Finally snowboarding for the first time and I got bruised so badly but it’s ok. I also had some friends come over for a sleepover and we finally got to watching an anime that was released in 2022 called Suzume. That movie was too good. Anyway hope y'all have a productive and enjoyable 2nd semester!

ROSE FLOAT DECORATING

In the whole month of December 2023, Key Clubbers had the opportunity to help volunteer decorating rose floats that would later be seen in a parade as well as on tv. Monrovia officers and members attended on various days tasked with different things such as cutting flowers, decorating on the floats, and other tasks assigned. This was important as the floats were behind schedule for the set parade on January 1st.

On December 7th 2023, our club marched alongside Monrovia Kiwanis in our city’s Christmas Parade. Decked out in spirit, our members and officers wore Key Club merch while carrying spirit sticks along the parade. This was to celebrate the Kiwanian’s service. Our club was honored to join them and enjoyed the festivities around Old Town Monrovia!

ICE SKATING DCM

On December 17th 2023, D35W along with two other divisions hosted their joint DCM ice skating event with D10N and D10S at the Pasedena ice skating center. Monrovia had a good amount of our officers and members attend and had fun ice skating as they got to befriend other members from different schools.

Charity Miles On December 27th 2023 to January 5th 2024, Monrovia Key Club started once again our charity miles service event. Giving members the opportunity to gain a maximum of 50 service hours during their winter break by walking, running, and biking which converts to money for charity in the app. This encourages members to be active during their break.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BECOME YOUR OWN BEST FRIEND? To become your own best friend means to have comfort, stability, and enjoyment with being by yourself wether that be in public or in your own personal time. It is loving yourself and knowing your own worth regardless of what others say or approval from others.
