With digital imagery, the finest details are cut into the MDF base. Paint is rolled onto the uncut surface, which gives a lightly-textured sheen finish, and provides the incised imagery a real 3-dimensional quality. Peter added, “Quite a lot goes into choosing which images to produce, as it is important to strike the right balance between what the machine takes out and what it leaves, thereby creating the best contrast between the matte finish and the exposed cut wood.” We looked at some of the examples of what Peter has for sale via his website and were amazed at the fineness of detail that can be achieved by this cutting-edge technology (pun intended).
