2006 - The Official “Year of Study Abroad” Celebrate the Year of Study Abroad! The U.S. Senate has unanimously passed a resolution designating 2006 as the Year of Study Abroad. The resolution encourages study abroad, but also declares what we’ve known for years: study abroad enables students to: • Become more informed about the world and develop cultural awareness
In the fall of 2005 we began a mission to create a brand-new approach to study abroad education. The result was the CEA Study Center in Paris, a new partner institution that offers premier courses in conjunction with Northern Illinois University, exclusively to CEA students. We are happy to announce that we are continuing in this tradition and have opened the doors to a new CEA Study Center in Barcelona. The CEA Study Center in Barcelona was founded in order to provide North American students with a unique interdisciplinary liberal arts education, enhanced by its location in Barcelona, Spain. Courses are offered in both Spanish and English and give students the opportunity not only to improve their language skills, but also to further their academic pursuits in a variety of academic subjects. Courses taught at the CEA Study Center in Barcelona have been designed in conjunction with and approved by Antonio de Nebrija University. In addition, all faculty teaching at the CEA Study Center in Barcelona have been approved by Antonio de Nebrija University. CEA offers semester, year, and summer programs and provides U.S. study abroad students with a comprehensive and transferable curriculum that makes use of Barcelona as the true classroom.
