FALCON 10X THE FUTURE

OF PRIVATE AVIATION

The Face of America Magazine

The Falcon 10X has a cabin cross section larger than some regional commercial jets, allowing for new layout possibilities. The 10X cabin is 6 feet, 8 inches (2.03 m) tall and 9 feet, 1 inch wide (2.77 m). It is almost 8 inches (20 cm) wider and 2 inches (5 cm) taller than the widest and tallest purpose-built business jet ying today.

What most distinguishes the Falcon 10X is the sheer dimensions of its cabin. It will simply be the biggest and most comfortable on the market, o ering far greater exibility with a wide selection of interior con gurations. Rather than four cabin zones of equal length, you can smartly con gure your cabin with di erent zone lengths to create completely customized interiors.

With its iconic shooting ranges and equestrian facilities located in the central section of the ranch, this heart of the Canyon Madness Ranch is anked by the magni cent Canadian River Canyon on one side and by the “shock and awe” Encierro Canyon on the other. With a total of 14,000 acres, the ranch o ers enough terrain of all types to satisfy the recreational desires of any of our guests. The awe-inspiring pristine landscape is home to abundant and diverse ora and fauna as well as soaring cli s and rock formations. The two “bookend” canyons that de ne the majesty of this ranch provide a visual impact that is of “maddening” proportions. Lisson Gallery was pleased to return to Independent for its 2021 edition with 404.lissongallery.com, a major presentation by digital media pioneers Cory Arcangel and JODI (artist couple Joan Heemskerk and Dirk Paesmans). The artists, who have inspired each other’s work for more than two decades, share an interest in art’s potential to exist digitally and be distributed online. The highly anticipated presentation explores the similarities and di erences between their respective practices through video, installation, and interactive online works. Arcangel explores the possibilities and limits of computers playing themselves, creating looping interactions within closed systems that continue until they reach their point of exhaustion. JODI’s works featured in the presentation are representations of data, code, and digital existence that would typically be hidden or intangible, making visual our digital footprint. Lisson Gallery is one of the most in uential and longest-running international contemporary art galleries in the world. Today the gallery supports and promotes the work of more than 60 international artists across two spaces in London, two in New York, one in Shanghai, as well as temporary spaces opened in 2020 in East Hampton and London’s Mayfair district.

RAKETA

“BAIKONOUR”

A SPACE WATCH DESIGNED BY LEGENDARY COSMAUNAUT SERGEI KRIKALEV

The Face of America Magazine

60 years ago, on 12 April 1961, the rst ever manned space ight by the Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was such a groundbreaking event for humanity, that the Soviet Union felt the need to dedicate a brand in its honour: it created the watch brand “Raketa” which means “space rocket” in Russian. Since then, the Raketa Watch Factory accompanied every step of the space conquest by engineering watches for Soviet cosmonauts. Today, 60 years later, Raketa continues this tradition with Russian cosmonauts. The Raketa “Baikonur” model is a specialized watch for cosmonauts developed in 2016 with the cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev.

fl

fi

The Face of America Magazine

The Raketa movement in the ”Baikonur” watch has another important feature that makes it even more robust. “Buckle up” to understand it: when you wear the watch in the space station, its automatic winding system will obviously not work properly in the absence of gravity, and you will therefore need to regularly wind it up manually. In most other automatic watches, this would lead to a quick wearing out of the tiny little wheels in the automatic winding module (because they would be turning to no purpose every time you would wind-up the movement manually). The Raketa automatic movement includes a very special system that disengages these little wheels when you wind-up the movement manually, thus avoiding their premature use while the watch is in space. As a result, the automatic winding system will work perfectly well when you land back on Earth after a long stay in space!

The Face of America Magazine

In addition to enabling you to distinguish night from day, the 24 hour dial provides another really cool function: it can serve on Earth as a solar compass. This is why the rotating bezel of the Baikonur watch has markers indicating the 4 cardinal points (in Russian) and the 360 degrees as in a normal compass. This solar compass would be very useful if your “Soyuz” descent module should fail to land at the right spot in the deep taiga forest and you would need a compass to nd your way back to civilization

fi

The Face of America Magazine

The Raketa movement has a beautifully printed decoration that you can see through the open caseback: a cosmonaut ies in open space in the middle of celestial constellations and the famous words pronounced by Gagirin (when he ew to space) is printed in Russian on the oscillating weight - meaning en English “Let's go!”.

fl

RHUM BARBANCOURT

The Face of America Magazine

Rhum Barbancourt owes his name to Dupre’ Barbancourt who immigrated to Haiti from the Cognac region of France over 150 years ago. Here, he built a rum distillery –the oldest in the country - where he applied the French traditional distillation method to sugar cane juice and the aging process in oak barrels from Limousin, as practiced in the production of cognac in his native Charente. The most important characteristic of Rhum Barbancourt is the use of sugar cane juice, as opposed to molasses used by other rums from the region and the world. Using pure cane juice provides Rhum Barbancourt with a speci c pro le: its rich avor carries the manifold “cane” aromas, making it a terroir driven rhum.

fi

fi

fl

The Face of America Magazine

Our favorite: The “Estate Reserve”.The 15 years is a re ned rum with explosive avors. It goes through 3 di erent types of oak barrels over its 15 years aging. During this time it is not blended. This speci c process develops soft scents of caramelized brown sugar, and a body that allows its avors to spread slowly and elegantly over the palate. A powerful body from the start, revealing an almost explosive aromatic richness based on cooked pears, citrus fruits, cinnamon and pepper. With a long nish that begins sweet and ends with the recurrence of citrus and spice accents, this spirit is ideal for sipping.

Sarashina Horii was established in 1789, the same year that George Washington was inaugurated as the rst President of the United States. Word spread about the high-quality noodles and soon they gained favor with the Japanese Imperial household and Shoguns. Today, there are three restaurants in Tokyo and the company is overseen by a ninth-generation member of the Horii family. The soba making tradition stretches back over 230 years to a small shop in Tokyo. From there, nine generations have been the stewards of the culinary heritage and unique white soba. The signature Sarashina soba noodles are made from Japanese buckwheat, but only from the innermost part of each seed, similar to how sake is made from the core of rice grains. This produces noodles that are pure white in color, with a delicate aroma, texture that is smooth as silk, and has a more re ned avor. The restaurant also o er Mori soba, which is made from the whole buckwheat grain and has a more robust avor and darker color. Soba noodles are high in protein and lower in gluten than other noodles, however they are not gluten free.

In 2013, The Palm Court was relaunched to include a grand bar, tea by Palais des Thés, and a new and revised menu featuring inspired American fare from morning through evening. Renowned architect Thierry Despont has completely renovated The Palm Court while staying true to its original design intent. Inspired by nearby Central Park and its lush greenery, Despont incorporated potted plants, ceiling-high palm trees, trellis detailing, and custom furnishings with cane accents into his design. The room’s signature feature is a soaring stained-glass dome reminiscent of the original built in 1907. gifts BRIBON TEQUILA Bribón uses only fully matured 7-10 year old agaves harvested by hand and taken to the distillery where they are cooked for 18 hours. The cooked agaves are shredded and fermented in tanks at a consistent 32°C utilizing a proprietary strain of yeast developed by Don Roberto. After fermentation, the product is double distilled utilizing a process that combines pot-still distillate with column distillation, creating a tequila that is complex and sophisticated while being extremely approachable and easy to drink.
