A cool change is coming through

Cobar’s picture-perfect Autumn weather is expected to only continue until the end of the week.

The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted a top of 27 degrees for Cobar today, 28 is forecast for tomorrow while Friday is expected to reach a very warm 30 degrees!

A late shower on Friday and more rain on Saturday will however herald the cooler temperatures with the thermometer expected to drop considerably with just 17 the expected top for Saturday.

Sunday will be even cooler, with just 15 degrees the expected maximum after an overnight low of seven degrees.

Monday will be slightly warmer with a top of 18 (after an overnight low of six).

The past week has been just gorgeous with the daytime temperatures hovering in the mid 20s all week.

It was a very pleasant weekend with 25.6 the recorded top temperature on Saturday while 26.2 was our maximum on Sunday.

Monday was even warmer (and our warmest day of the past week) with the thermometer reaching a top of 27.1.

The nights stayed pretty warm too with 13.7 the overnight low on Monday, 11.9 was recorded by the Bureau on Sunday and 11 on Saturday.

While only a chance of rain is expected on Friday, there’s a good chance we will receive up to 15mm of rain on Saturday.

The cloudy conditions are expected to linger into Sunday but the Bureau predicts there’s only a slight chance of more showers.

Peter Vlatko, General Manager

zac Day yesterday said they were thrilled to visit Cobar and take part in our services. They report they were very well looked after by the RSL.

• Locals Jodie Jones and Simone Rogers Porter are on their bikes this week doing a four day charity postie bike ride to raise money for Wings4Kidz. The charity helps sick kids and their families in Cobar and other regional areas by providing free flights (and ground transport) to attend specialist medical appointments at major centres.

• Well done to Tim Eves who donated his winnings of $300 in the Cobar Newsagency Easter egg competition to Vinnies. Tim’s generosity will help someone in need in our local community.

• Aurelia Metals turned the lights off at their Hera Mine site near Nymagee on Friday morning as they wrapped up the transition to care and maintenance. The plant, offices and workshops were all powered down with Hera’s Mechanical Supervisor, Brad Lumbery having the honour of ‘flipping the switch’. Brad has been with Hera since day one and was there when they turned the lights on in 2014 and so it was only fitting that he turn them off. Aurelia praised everyone who worked tirelessly to de-

Hera, recording a 43 per cent improvement on the December quarter. The next chapter in Hera’s story begins when Aurelia’s nearby Federation Project development starts.
