Cobar volunteers win Vinnies regional sales award

The volunteers at the Cobar Vinnies store are all smiles this week after recently winning a Vinnies sales award.

Vinnies Regional Manager Tanya Godden, announced the Cobar store has been recognised for achieving Outstanding Sales in Quarter 3, January to March 2023.

“Cobar hasn’t fully recovered from where they were prior to COVID, but they have had a steady increase in their sales month on month, quarter on quarter,” Ms Godden said.

“We are very grateful to the generous public who donate good quality, pre-loved items for us to sell in the retail shop.

“Our customers continue to support the Vinnies shop, and enjoy coming in to find a treasure, or to find designer items at a bargain price.

“We need them to continue supporting the shop to ensure the longevity of Vinnies in Cobar. All proceeds from the sale of donated items stay in the local community and provide a substantial source of funding needed to run our local programs and services to assist people experiencing disadvantage.”

Vinnies volunteers help to bring a little dignity, comfort and hope to those who need it most and Ms Godden said it’s for these people, that their volunteers really do make a difference.

She said Vinnies always welcome more volunteers.

“By volunteering, you can be sure you making a difference for those in need.

“For some Vinnies volunteers, this is a chance to give something back to the community, to use their skills and experience to make a difference in the lives of people who need assistance the most.

“For others, it is a chance to develop new skills and experience in a supportive environment.

“If you are passionate about the planet, your community and thrifting, we’re always on the lookout for awesome people to join our team of volunteers,” she said.

“Our shops offer our volunteers a creative, supportive and rewarding environment.

“Being a shop volunteer gives you the chance to develop new skills, boost your ca- reer, get on the job training and add to your resume.

’re also pretty sure you’ll really enjoy meeting like-minded souls, finding second-hand treasures and basically just being at the heart of your local community.”
