Liverpool cause an upset in soccer

Rovers may have been the dominant team in the Mids division of the Cobar Junior Soccer Club competition this season, however Liverpool has taken that title after they comprehensively beat Rovers 4-1 on Saturday.

Maddox Best and Sophie Beer netted their first goals for the season for Liverpool and Henry Geppert and Jack Geppert also booted one each for their team to help them to their win.

The other Mids match was also an upset game with Rangers scoring their first win for the season beating United 5-nil.

Winning goals came from Isla McKervey (2), Henry Ntamuhanga (2) and Edwin Palma.

The Mids Gumnut Milkshake Award winners were Maddox Best, Harlow Chaplain, Joshua Ho Wing and Ashton Hyland while Tilly Doll, Lenny Hill, Hayden Griffiths and Logan Mackenzie earned the Cobar Hotbake Donut Awards.

The Seniors game between Wanderers and Rangers finished in a thrilling 5-all draw.

Wanderers’ goals were scored by Isaac Theakston (3), Jayden Cryer and Rebecca Hibbert.

For the Rangers, Jade Buckman scored three goals, Jeremy Theakston booted one and another came from the boot of a visiting player.

The Seniors Milkshake Award winners were Malcolm Gillette and Jacob Theakston while Kian Engelbrecht and Sienna Jones took home the Donut Awards.

In the Mini’s division, Rovers got the better of Wanderers to win 4-1, while Rangers finished with a 3-2 win over United in the other game.

Rovers’ goals were netted by Sam McKervey (2), Layla Fugar and Delilah McBride. (Delilah usually plays for Wanderers but she switched to play for the Rovers team this week to help them out.)

Juan Engelbrecht’s boot was responsible for the Wanderers’ goal.

For Rangers, Darcy Geppert scored twice and Ethan Jebb kicked one goal. In reply, Max Preisig and Ivy Joss scored once each for their United team.

Zinko Crawford, Sam McKervey, Ivy Joss and Darcy Geppert won the Minis Milkshake Awards while Delilah McBride, Layla Fugar, Max Preisig and Ethan Jebb earned the Donut prizes.
