Warm weather to linger longer

Cobar has had a run of warmer than average weather with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting the warm weather will linger for longer.

It’s going to be a great week to do the washing with sunny days and light winds predicted for the next seven days.

The forecast for today is a top of 23 degrees while tomorrow will be mostly sunny and should reach 22.

The sun will continue to shine on Friday with a top of 19 while Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny with 21 degrees and Sunday will reach 24.

Monday is predicted to be our warmest day of the week with 26 degrees the expected top temperature.

Last Thursday was our warmest day of the week when the thermometer reached 24.3 degrees, which, according to Weatherzone is close to the record high for this time of the year of 25 degrees, which was recorded in 2011.

Wednesday was another lovely winter’s day when it reached a top of 22.3 degrees and Friday was also a warm one with a top of 23.9.

There was a shower of rain on Saturday morning which put 1mm in the town’s gauge before it turned out to be a mostly sunny day reaching a top of 19 degrees.

Sunday and Monday were also pleasant days with 19.6 and 20 the respective top temperatures.

CSA Mine is one of Australia’s longest operating copper mines with a history stretching back almost 150 years. At 1.9 kilometers deep, CSA is the second deepest copper mine in Australia and the third highest copper grade in the world. Located near the NSW town of Cobar, CSA Mine employs around 550 people and produces approximately 40,000 tonnes of copper concentrate per year. The ore is mined and processed on site and then transported by rail 700km to the Port of Newcastle for export. CSA Mine was acquired by Metals Acquisition Limited in June 2023.
