A Message from the Commodore: Our Happy Place
I thought the holiday season was the peak of off-season festivities. I was wrong… January was incredible, and February brought us even more.
Between the continuation
of the Commodores’ themed bar, Valentine Kids’ Brunch, our new piano dedication, the Super Bowl watch party and the kids’ cooking class—we have been busy. And this does not take into account for regularly scheduled activities, such as Burger Night and Euchre, and various other committee meetings, all striving to make our club better.
February also had us entering our first maintenance shutdown since Past Commodore JB Walsh refreshed the Clubhouse interior eight years ago. Now
long overdue, we managed a moderate two-week Clubhouse shutdown for cleaning, painting, general maintenance and upgrades like the new automated entry doors to name a few. Despite the main Clubhouse being closed, Marc and his team transformed the Center Isle to a warm and accommodating Winter Lodge, serving pizza and other specialty themed options.
Moving forward, March will be busy as well, so please keep an eye on the calendar, and look for email and Instagram updates. The month starts out with the Ski Trip, followed by a Wine Dinner and the always-a-favorite Men’s Stag Night. The Commodores’ Bar will be transformed into the O’Commodores’ Bar for the month, so let the shenanigans begin!
Please be in tune with sign-ups for summer activities and dock-related information and deadlines. Spring is rapidly speeding toward us and the Yard Crew will be busy setting docks before we know it. We look forward to seeing you here!
— Commodore Andrew Drumm

Art Fleet
As this incredibly mild winter quickly comes to an end, our club continues to get ready for all the upcoming spring-related activities and very enjoyable events. Very soon our island will again be filled with members anxiously awaiting for their “launch day” to finally arrive, so that a new, fun boating season can begin!
In the meantime, stop in the Library to see the newest artwork on display.
Lori Rosenbaum’s daughter Nicole grew up at CYC and remains very fond of our club, although she is currently residing out of state. You might remember that she, along with her mother, was one of the CYC member-artists to exhibit her work during our first CYC Art by the River event a few years ago.
This month we are very pleased to welcome Nicole back with one of her paintings to be exhibited in the Library. This work is a very sentimental portrait of her grandfather, Ralph Daugstrup, who had been a member of the CYC for four decades, and who passed away last year. Ralph loved woodworking and gardening, and many of our longstanding members will certainly remember his contagious laugh and his friendly personality with which he filled our clubhouse for so many years!
Nicole Daugstrup is currently living in Wisconsin, and is the proud owner of “Fine
