WHAT WE DO POLITICAL ENGAGEMENT

The BTA has established the very first All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG*) dedicated to business travel and this allows the BTA, its members, partners, and clients direct access to central government. It gives the business travel community a voice and influence right at the very heart of where the decisions are made on issues such as transport infrastructure projects, the value business travel to UK GDP or the sustainability agenda for travel. No other business travel organisation can offer such influence at Westminster. * All-Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) are informal cross-party groups that have no official status within Parliament. They are run by and for Members of the Commons and Lords, though many choose to involve individuals and organisations from outside Parliament in their administration and activities.

The BTA has established relationships with senior MP’s on both sides of the house and from all parts of the United Kingdom. The association also regularly engages with the DfT and other civil service bodies in our status as the authoritative voice of business travel. During the Covid-19 crisis the BTA was invited to speak directly to the Prime Ministers senior business advisors within Number 10 for them to understand the issues and needs of the business travel community. Local and devolved government relationships are also a regular part of our activities and interaction and through our government affairs partners, Cavendish, we continually look to expand our political influence.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT US...

“ “

I have to say I think BTA have done an outstanding job over the last few months, all of their updates have been great and the meetings I have attended well thought through and useful

“You guys have done a brilliant job in updating us on so many industry issues at the moment, without the BTA we would be blind to so much information!” Even my legal person said the other day, we would be lost without all this information”

I think the industry will see many changes once this is over but we applaud the work being done by the BTA in putting corporate travel to the fore

Keep up the amazing work and thanks again. Very long way to go, but I feel the tide is potentially starting to turn

Thank you Clive and the whole team also for your extraordinary support to the trade during this time. It is much appreciated and very much needed!

I just wanted to say that during this lock down the communication from BTA has been amazing. The value we have from being members especially now has been invaluable; with interesting and relevant webinars and regular updates keeping us abreast of the entire industry. BTA is also becoming the organisation the media are peaking to for valuable insight into the industry, this is great kudos to you Clive

I just wanted to send a quick note to you about the BTA updates and feedback you, Clive and the Team are sending out. Like many I am not enjoying watching the news of late, but the updates Clive is sending every day are nothing short of brilliant

Just wanted to drop a note to feedback that I think you’re doing a great job during this very difficult period in regularly communicating in a structured and factual way to the membership. I typically read your emails below each day rather than the mobile or tabloid articles, as these are more accurate. Don’t think all your hard work isn’t appreciated

“ “

Thanks for all the support, lobbying, insight and communication the BTA is doing on behalf of the industry and its membership

I just wanted to say thank you for organising a really interesting call. It was very worthwhile and has increased my knowledge personally and what I can talk to the wider team about. Keep up your great work, your updates and support are invaluable information
