Snow Spotlight: Kweku Bimpong
With Summer Congregation around the corner, we invited our College Alumni to share their experiences transitioning from their studies at Durham University into the world of work.
Kweku Bimpong (Class of 2019, Pharmacy), had this to say about his journey:

After graduating from Pharmacy, I completed a Pharmacy training year working at a hospital and within a local NHS team. I had nothing lined up after, and admittedly it was tough, I applied to more than a dozen jobs and got a job as a Policy Advisor in the Department of Health and Social Care.
I'm now a Senior Consultant at EY working on health projects. I knew before graduating that I wasn't going to stay in Pharmacy and the careers team helped immensely. So my advice, speak to them!
The other bit of advice I have is not my own, at matriculation, it was said that your 'education is more than your degree' and it really is. I used examples of what I did in societies in interviews, so throw yourself in. And finally, you don't get if you don't ask, an inquisitive email/LinkedIn message can go a long way!

Welfare Wednesdays
Laura Wales (JCR President)

As the summative pressure mounted, our Fun Welfare Wednesdays were very well received each week. Kicking off with an ice cream van, followed by waffles, nachos, brownies, pancakes on pancake day, fruit and veg boxes, there was always a reason to come up to College and it was always lovely to see a crowd in the Igloo.
With Wednesday afternoons being mostly free from academic commitments, this was the ideal time for students to gather in College between sports matches, cheer practice, and as a pit stop following sessions in the library.
Betty, Phil’s beloved golden doodle, also made the odd appearance in the JCR Office on these days to assist with welfare drop ins and brighten the mood of the students passing by with Fun Welfare Wednesday food in hand.
