Student Enrichment Fund

The Student Enrichment Fund for the 2022/23 academic year has been hugely popular among students at John Snow College. A total of 53 applications have been submitted, with the college awarding £8,642 to support students' desires to take part in personal and professional development.

The Epiphany term saw 35 applicants, an increase from Michaelmas. Below are some of the successful students for this term:
One 3rd Year English Literature student was lucky to have been accepted onto The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art's (RADA) prestigious 'Confidence on Stage' course with the help of the SEF.
A 2nd Year PPE student decided to take up weekly French classes in order to increase her employability.
A 2nd Year Biological Sciences student has been granted funds to complete an open water diver course to help them in research projects underwater.
A 2nd Year PPE student has used the SEF to fund his travel for the Patchwork Foundation’s Master Class Programme. This scheme is designed to help young people from under-privileged backgrounds undergo personal and professional development over a 10-month period.
One 3rd Year elite ballroom dancer studying Law has been awarded the SEF to compete at two very prestigious dance competitions.
A Masters' Management student will undertake a Royal Yachting Association Day Skipper Course in order to coach other young sailors.
A 2nd Year Biosciences student has been granted the fund to become a qualified rock-climbing instructor.

From studying music at college, to studying music at university there was a huge transition. The skills required at a university level are much more complex.
Due to the lack of time during my gap year, I was unable to progress my skills on my flute. However, after beginning my university studies, I realised that there are many opportunities to progress my flute- playing skills.

Then I came across the application for the Student Enrichment Fund. This fund is for students who would like to partake in activities that are for their personal development. The fund has enabled me to partake in external flute lessons from a trained professional with years of experience. My technical skills have improved vastly, and I am now able to play at a greater standard than ever. I am a lot more confident in my abilities because of the opportunity the SEF has presented to me.
Because of the funding for my flute lessons, I am now able to prepare for my Grade 8 flute examination, which has helped my personal development. This will open up so many opportunities for me and will enable me to experience auditions for orchestras that require a higher standard of playing. Being able to have weekly lessons for my flute is only possible because of the Student Enrichment Fund, as they
