THEATRE 29

Celebrating Our 16th Season!

Welcome! Welcome to a brand new season at Theatre 29! As we enter our sixteenth theatrical season, we look back at how far we have come. Recent shows at Theatre 29 have all played to record-breaking capacity and this phenomenal success has made Theatre 29 tickets the hottest in the area. Theatre 29 productions were recognized by the Desert Theatre League, picking up 16 nominations (7 for Spamalot, 3 for The Perils of Goldilocks, 2 each for The Importance of Being Earnest and The Farndale Murder Mystery and 1 for A Doll’s House). Our 2015 season is sure to continue this trend of success with seven full-stage productions. With this kind of clamor for tickets for our shows, becoming part of our family of season ticket holders makes good sense. As our offerings evolve, so does our capacity to service our patrons better! In addition to our highly successful online ticketing avenue through www.theatre29.org, also note the QR bar code printed next to the description of each season production in the brochure. Use your Android smartphone or IPhone (with a bar code reader app) to scan the code and purchase tickets from your device! These codes will also be printed on all posters, so patrons can purchase on the go! Also, for the mobile user, download the WALLETINI app from ITunes or Google Play app market and purchase tickets, check out other offerings in the area as well as allowing transfer of tickets, when buying for a group! But, we never forget the human touch, for those who prefer to deal one on one with our skilled Box Office personnel! Enjoy the season and, again, thanks for your patronage! After history professor John Oldman unexpectedly resigns from the University, his startled colleagues impulsively invite themselves to his home, pressing him for an explanation. But they're shocked to hear his reason for premature retirement: John claims he must move on because he is immortal, and cannot stay in one place for more than ten years without his secret being discovered. Tempers rise and emotions flow as John's fellow professors attempt to poke holes in his story, but it soon becomes clear that his tale is as impossible to disprove as it is to verify. What starts out as a friendly gathering soon builds to an unexpected and shattering climax. They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, they’re altogether ooky, THE ADDAMS FAMILY is now on stage! Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family - a man her parents have never met. And if that weren't upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he's never done before - keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday's 'normal' boyfriend and his parents. Fun music, wacky dance and you never know what’s coming next! The Farndale ladies are renowned across the globe for their famously incompetent performances. Their bumbling charm is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit with the hilarious Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society's Production of A Christmas Carol. This heartwarming and engagingly goofy comedy portrays the attempts of four ladies of the society and one slightly reluctant man to get through a production of Dickens' A Christmas Carol that is disaster-prone in the lovable way of small theater productions. From broken-down transportation to collapsing scenery, line mix-ups to infighting, the ladies soldier through the mishaps like the troopers they are, having a jolly good time along the way and bringing the audience right along with them.

January 9 – February 7 A Farce by Oscar Wilde—Directed by Butch Pelfrey

February 27 – March 28 Music, Lyrics and Book by Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis Directed by Gary Daigneault

Sir Robert Chiltern seems to have everything – considerable wealth, a blissfully happy marriage to a wife who idolizes him and a stellar career in politics with the promise of even greater things to come. Suddenly he is faced with a terrifying choice: see his career and his marriage in ruins as a secret he thought was buried long ago threatens to erupt - or be party to a swindle of international proportions. Either way he faces disgrace, selfdisgust and much, much worse – the knowledge that he will no longer be his beloved wife’s Ideal Husband. One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, Urinetown is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a Gotham–like city, a terrible water shortage — caused by a 20–year drought — has led to a government–enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he's had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, Urinetown is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. An apartment in 1960’s Greenwich Village becomes the site of theater’s most terrifying game of cat and mouse. Desperate to reclaim a mysterious doll stuffed with illegal drugs, a con man lays a trap to ensnare a blind woman. With the help of his criminal sidekicks and a few clever disguises, he spins a tale to fool the innocent and unsuspecting woman. But when the doll can’t be found, the situation spirals out of control. From the author of DIAL “M” FOR MURDER, WAIT UNTIL DARK proves that what you can’t see can most definitely hurt you.
