Theatre 29 is always seeking volunteers who love the live performing arts and who want to support these successful efforts in the Morongo Basin. Even if you would never consider taking the stage yourselves, we always need support as Box Office personnel, concessions, ushers, construction, technical production, promotion, community outreach and many more aspects. Of course, we also have needs for financial contributions, as we are a fully self-supportive non-profit organization. And, through the purchase of season tickets, you are also helping to support our season productions and ensure future seasons of quality, family oriented entertainment for our community.

A LITTLE MURDER NEVER HURT ANYBODY By Ron Bernas

JAKE’S WOMEN By Neil Simon

Directed by John Wright

Directed by Butch Pelfrey

America's premier comic playwright makes another hilarious foray into the world of modern relationships. Jake, a novelist who is more successful with fiction than with real life, faces a marital crisis by daydreaming about the women in his life. The wildly comic and sometimes moving flashbacks played in his mind are interrupted by visitations from actual females. Jake's women include a revered first wife who was killed years earlier in an accident, his daughter who is recalled as a child but is now a young woman, his boisterous and bossy sister, an opinionated analyst, his current wife who is leaving Jake for another man, and a prospective third wife.

But Matthew wants something more -- to be rid of his wife Julia so he can have some real fun! He resolves to murder Julia by the new year’s end, and tells her so. She vows to stay alive, and tells him so. And so the game begins -- a hilarious yearyear-long match of wits and the witless. As the Perry’s friends and staff are dying off mysteriously. It seems Matthew is successful in murdering everyone but Julia. As the bodies are falling, dimdim-witted daughter Bunny contemplates calling off her wedding to unwitting Donald since all the intended giftgift-bearing guests are dying. Enter Detective Plotnik -- a Sam Spade reincarnation who suspects everyone, but hasn’t a clue. A hilarious whodunit in homage to the screwball comedies of the 30’s and 40’s.

SEUSSICAL, THE MUSICAL

LOST IN YONKERS

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES—A NEW MUSICAL

Directed by Gary Daigneault & Ed Will SEUSSICAL is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Lovingly brought to life are all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters: Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and a little boy with a big imagination-Jojo. As the imagination--Jojo. colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the world of the Whos. Follow Horton, who finds himself faced with challenges-Protecting his tiny friend Jojo challenges--Protecting (and all the Whos) from a world of naysayers & dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry.

Follow the misadventures of a wildly independent orphan with fiery red hair and a temper to match. L.M. Montgomery's timeless classic, cherished by generations, comes to life in a new musical. Anne Shirley is mistakenly sent to live with a plainspoken farmer and his spinster sister, who thought they were adopting a boy! She wins over the Cuthberts, and all of Prince Edward Island, with her irrepressible spirit and imagination-and wins imagination--and over audiences with her warm, poignant story about love, home and family. A literary classic brought to the Theatre 29 stage in an all new musical for a new generation to enjoy.

THE MEMORY JAR An Original Play by KURT SCHAUPPNER

Directed by KURT SCHAUPPNER

With their patriarch facing a grave illness, a fractured family gathers together in the family home, a former homesteader's cabin in Deseret Valley. When the oldest child proposes creating a memory jar for their parents, the youngest child balks, claiming that memories are faulty at best. There may, however, be a very real reason he wants to avoid childhood memories and it may have something to do with something that happened in the family home. Gripping drama from the author of “The Unbroken Chain”, “April” and the film “Once Upon A Dirt Road”.

DON’T HUG ME, A CHRISTMAS CAROL

A Holiday Musical Comedy Book & Lyrics by Phil Olsen Music by Paul Olsen Directed by Marty Neider

Having been described as “The Music Man meets Fargo, minus the blood and trombones” the “Don’t Hug Me” series hails from the cold North. It's Christmas Eve in Bunyan Bay, Minnesota and cantankerous bar owner Gunner Johnson gets in an argument with his wife, Clara, tells her he's skipping Christmas, he storms out of the bar, goes snowmobiling across the lake, falls through the ice, and goes into a coma. He comes back in his dream where he's visited by folk legend, Sven Yorgensen, who plays the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future. Sven takes Gunner (Scrooge) on a journey similar to that in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" only very different. Will Gunner come out of his coma and find redemption with Clara at The Bunyan? Find out. Featuring 17 original songs including: "Gramma Cut the Christmas Cheese," "Gunner Fell Into an Ice Hole," "The Wheel is Turnin' but the Hamster is Dead," "I Love You More Than Football," "Stuck in a Chimney," "I'd Rather be Naughty" and more.

ACTRESS

An Original Play by JOSH LAZAR Directed by JOSH LAZAR

Sparks fly when the younger "prodigal" daughter of a conservative local judge, who ran away from her small home town in Minnesota to become an actress in Hollywood, returns after 10 years to star in the town theatre's production of the same play her talented older sister, who gave up acting to marry a farmer, starred in her senior year in high school. Old wounds resurface, rivalries ignite, and each character must come to terms with the truth of their own past before the curtain descends.
