Since the order was lifted, numerous locals expressed their experiences on social media. Homicide police identify Richmond murder victim Homicide police say a 23-year-old man whose body was discovered in a Richmond ditch on Saturday morning may have had gang ties. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has identified the murder victim as Delta resident Christopher Singh. IHIT confirmed Tuesday that Singh was the victim of a targeted shooting. Conservatives unveil innovation policy ahead of elections The Conservatives on Wednesday laid out their new innovation policy ahead of an expected election call, part of an effort by the party to distinguish itself as an alternative to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, one that could dependably navigate the post-pandemic economic recovery. The Conservative proposal, if fully realized, could mark a departure from years of Liberal innovation policy, which many observers say has become unfocused and weighed down by a long list of incongruous subsidy programs.

Prime Minister Trudeau may call snap elections for Sept. 20 Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is likely planning to call a snap federal election for Sept. 20. According to four unnamed sources, Trudeau is planning to make the formal announcement on Sunday, following a visit with newly appointed Governor General Mary Simon where he must ask her to dissolve Parliament. There has been speculation of a federal election this year for several months and party leaders have been busy criss-crossing the country. On Wednesday, Conservatives Leader Erin
O’Toole was in Waterloo, Ont., to announce his party’s plan to “unleash innovation” as part of his party’s Canada’s Recovery Plan. Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has been touring the Maritimes as he speaks to premiers about COVID-19 recovery and affordable housing. Trudeau has signed child care funding plans with more than half the provinces and made a series of funding announcement in recent weeks.
Will Kelowna’s Delta variant outbreak spread throughout BC? With a COVID-19 outbreak roaring in the Central Okanagan there is a large push underway to get more people vaccinated while the Delta variant quickly changes the outlook of the pandemic. Health officials have placed partial blame for record-breaking local case counts on unvaccinated residents, but
the data shows the Central Okanagan could be doing much worse when it comes to those rates. Updated data from the BCCDC shows 77 per cent of Central Okanagan residents immunized with at least one dose. That is just two per cent behind Kamloops and ahead of most of the IH region.
Another heat wave warnings for Metro Vancouver Another heat wave is expected to roast parts of southern BC this week, with temperatures potentially hitting the high 30s in the Lower Mainland and the 40s in the Interior. It’s the third heat wave to hit the region this summer — a rare occurrence, said meteorologist Doug Lundquist with Environment and Climate Change Canada.
