The 24/7 Movement
On Christmas evening 2022, Dustin, Brittany and their sons were headed to Benton for a final family celebration of the Lord’s birth. In the blink of an eye, life for the Dillard’s tragically and irreparably changed when their vehicle on by an alleged impaired driver. Dustin and Brittany (both 33) lost their lives instantly while their three young sons threatening injuries. Pryor (2), Pierce (4) and Preston (7) were airlifted to a Chattanooga medical facility where, throughout the next month, they fought to regain their health and the new normality of life.
To honor the memory of Dustin and Brittany, the Dillard family and friends have profit organization seeking to reduce and prevent drunk, drugged and distracted driving. The numbers, two, four ages at the time of the collision. Our hope is to inspire, motivate and help others make good driving decisions by providing real solutions, awareness, education, advocacy and partnerships 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Dillard’s Law Signed by Governor Lee
The Dillard family was honored to be the guests of Gov. Bill Lee at the Tennessee State Capitol July 5th when he signed Dillard’s Law. Although we wish our meeting had occurred under different circumstances, we’re very thankful to all state lawmakers who refined and helped to pass this important piece of legislation including State Sen. Adam Lowe, State Rep. Mark Cochran, State Rep. Kevin Raper and the Governor. Words can’t really express how much we appreciate your support and kindness. A special thank you to Raelyn Stewart from Senator Lowe’s office for taking good care of us.
Dillard’s Law provides for the surviving parent or guardian of a child whose parent was a victim of vehicular homicide to convert a restitution order for child maintenance payments to a civil judgment at any time rather than following the conclusion of the defendant’s sentence. Our hope and prayer is this law will make people reconsider poor driving choices which will save other families from experienc the unimaginable pain felt by the Dillards and the Stewarts.
