Choices Matter
The story of the 2022 Christmas Day crash has been heard throughout our region, state and nation. For the first time, we’ve been able to reveal the impact the crash had on Dustin and Brittany’s vehicle when they were killed by a drunk driver. Their three young boys suffered critical injuries and it’s truly a miracle of God the boys are with us today.
The District Attorney’s report revealed the driver was driving at excessive speeds at the time of the crash; had the “throttle at 100 percent” impact at the time of the crash, and had a blood alcohol content of 0.144, well above Tennessee’s legal limit of 0.08.

In December 2023, the driver pleaded guilty to two counts of vehicular homicide and three counts of vehicular assault related to injuries sustained by the three children. He received a 22-year sentence without parole, plus another eight years for other offenses.
Today Dustin’s and Brittany’s life and legacy is shared with students, law enforcement, first responders, and people of all ages as a reminder of the importance and power of our decisions. Choices Matter in life and behind the wheel. We all have the ability to be a positive influence in our communities, and together we can create a better world like Dustin and Brittany.

Brittany’s Kids is a special oncampus program making a difference at Walker Valley High School. The club was founded with students who Brittany taught at the time of the crash. Students have a voice in The 24/7 Movement and have been meeting monthly since last September. We are walking with them through their graduation in 2026. Students have been honoring Brittany’s memory by helping to raise awareness among their peers of the dangers of impaired driving. Sophomores Mary Beasley, Libbi Dunkle and Caileigh Collins led an on-campus pickleball tournament that raised more than $800 for The 24/7 Movement. Special thanks to teachers Leesa Linderman, Rebecca Ball and Lisa Eulo for

December Billboard Campaign
The 24/7 Movement initiated a media billboard campaign in December dedicated to honoring individuals who lost their lives at the hands of drunk drivers in Bradley County over the past two decades. In addition to remembering Dustin & Brittany Dillard, the campaign paid tribute to Amy Pigg, a young mother of two boys and a caring wife, as well as Dustin Ledford, an amazing young man who left behind two loving parents.

The impactful campaign featured 11 billboards and garnered approximately 1.5 million views over a four-week period. By highlighting the reallife stories of local loved ones whose lives touched many, the initiative aimed to serve as a poignant reminder for people to exercise caution and refrain from driving under the influence.
