“There are stock pictures that by themselves motivate me to work with them – I see them and an idea for a composition immediately pops into my mind”
Sister gypsy: music is a big source of inspiration for me, and this work is my interpretation of the song Sister Gypsy by Blackmore’s Night. The lyrics speak of a wild and free-spirited gypsy girl, who is exists nowhere but in our own imaginations, symbolizing our own instinctive need to brighten our lives with a little magic. The truth beneath the rose: inspired by Within Temptation’s eponymous song, this work points to what truly lies beneath the things we know to be right, sometimes without even knowing why. Doubting what is commonly accepted as “right” makes us doubt our own selves, which can lead us to feeling guilty, but this may sometimes be the only way to the salvation of our souls.
