supposed cornerstone of commemoration was wasted when its launching became a show of clowns.

The Technology Advocate, the premier collegiate publicationoftheSanPablo CityCampus, wasoneofthe key working staff of the campus’ copy of the coffee tablebook. For a few working days, the commissioned staff members and editors rummaged through piles of old books, pictures, newsletters, and the like to get content from the past 70yearsofthecampus.

There, aglimpseofhistory came to life. In that spirit, the Technology Advocate gave its time, effort, and dedication to completingthecoffeetablebook.

However, like the usual scenario of every LSPU event, the launching went not only delayed but as un-

afterthe Gawad Pagkilala.

This led Technology Advocate, the launching audience, and even other campus press to lose their hope in the launching and leave the event. Another daywenton, andallthesetup was still at the venue, withtheribbonstillwaiting for a pair of scissors to cut itself. Even the library directoriscluelessastowhat happened.

Organizing a 70th weeklong anniversary is a challengingfeat.Itisunderstandable to have mishaps here and there. But to have a momentouslaunchbeleft with no status at all is an inexcusablemistake.

This challenges the quality of integrity, professionalism, and innovation that the university prides itself on. Painful and eyesoreasit seems, delaysand cancellations have always

been a part of every LSPU program. And frightening as it is, these repetitive occasions of unpolished planning and execution of events might have been a culture of our university. Not only did this epic failure of coffee table book launching hurl a thunderous impact on the heart of the Technology Advocate, but it also showed how LSPUvaluesits70-yearhistory:bydoingthebareminimum and having a “mairaos lang” attitude.

Instead of a warm round of applause, what resonated in this event was an awkward silence and a

music track of the classic clown. In the unclarity of events, disappointments will cloud the picture. And we fear that this funny-yetsad failed launching will be a benchmark in the coming years of our dearest LSPU. Let this moment be a waking call to do better – not only in words, letters, and pagesbutinaction.

Let the words of Technology Advocate be a resonating alarm clock to shatter the complacency that’s beeninfectingouruniversity for the past 70 years. And letnotthe 70-year history of our university be anotherwastedeffort..***

Personally, I don't know how many entries the Siniloan, Los Banos, and San Pablo Campuses submitted, but if I were to look at the equity of the chosen films, a question comes to mind: what possible reason could there be for your
