Baden Powelld

Robert Baden-Powell, Chief Scout of the World and Scouting Tasmania’s patron, was born February 22nd, 1857. We take this opportunity to commemorate the dedication he gave to Scouting and celebrate this date as Founders Day across the world.

Locally, our Groups across the state chose to celebrate in various ways, some holding a BBQ, others hosted activity days, with a parade to open and close the event.

“This evening we all come together at Kingston Beach to commemorate Founders Day, the birthday of Scouting founder Baden Powell. Our ceremony concluded with an investiture and a link up from Cubs to Scouts.

After the ceremony the Cubs and Joeys went for a short walk along the Alum Cliffs track whilst the Scouts and Venturer’s got in some boating practice before the upcoming Scout and Guide Regatta.”

The North West Groups along the coast and inland around Devonport all came together at Fulton Park, Forth to celebrate as a large group, participating in team games after the parade.

“To celebrate Founder’s Day (BP’s birthday) Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers from Mersey and Leven Districts met all at Fulton Park.”
