Apple Isle Moot, was threatened by both Covid and flooding, but persevered, proving to be a huge success, starting off with a bang on the 31st of December.

The event was held at Fulton Park, Forth, over a course of 9 days. Onsite the crowd bustled with around 520 Rovers registered as participants, along with 80+ staff members, volunteers and contractors.

With such broad expedition options and a vast variety of activities, participants got to see much of Tasmania. Rovers were treated to experiences with our states best local food to our most thrilling environments.

Rovers from various states explored hikes around Cradle Mountain and Freycinet. Tackled white water rafting and rock climbing. Explored Tasmania’s recreational wilderness with railways and grand views. Discovered our States unique taste with wines, cheeses and chocolates. Experienced ocean diving, mountain biking, 4x4 driving tours, sailing and so much more.

Participants travelled across the state, from one corner of the Tasman Peninsula to the North East and West of Tasmania.

Scouts Tasmania was thrilled to offer a unique opportunity for participants to gain formal training for seamanship and abseiling within the event. Being a first since the introduction of the new Scouting program it was a great addition. Rovers were also given plenty of chances to gain logbook hours towards their Outdoor Adventure Skills.

The events on-site team worked hard creating giant board games, installing a Frisbee golf course and organising cultural activities with palawa people.

The Arena acted as a centrepiece for on-site night life and live music, featuring several local bands and 2 rovers who ‘spun the discs’, DJing during the midnight shifts.

Scouts Tasmania is so glad to have had the opportunity to host this years National Moot and hopes the friendships and memories made throughout the Moot continue to be shared over years to come.
