Scouts & Ventures Sail the Tamar River

During the holidays our Scouts and Venturers participated in the tri-annual cruise camp. The camp was run over 5 days on the Tamar River/Kanamaluka.

We were also joined by 10 scouts and venturers from South Australia. Alongside the main camp, Hannah also ran her adventurous journey.
Day 1 - We sailed around Deviot and then stayed there for the night.
Day 2 - We sailed from Deviot to Port Dalrymple. It was a long day against the tide and a slight panic when the safety boat stopped working, but the youth members showed some great leadership!
Day 3 – This was a relaxing day. We sailed to George Town for fish and chips and to top up supplies, then back to Port Dalrymple.
Day 4 – This was a big day! We participated in the George Town Safari (race).
Then sailed back to Deviot where we took the boats out. We slept the night back at hall.
Day 5 – We cleaned the boats and headed home to sleep!
Everyone had a great time and hopefully learnt some new sailing skills. Thanks so much to the leaders for organising and the South Australian crew for joining us. We look forward to the next camp in 3 years time.
